Calling DTMLFile from an external method
by Joachim Schmitz 29 Jan '02

29 Jan '02

Hi, I am trying to make an external-method from an Zope-2.1.4 version work under 2.4.3. In this method I had a call to HTMLFile like this: return HTMLFile("Extensions/authform.dtml",self.__dict__,globals())() apparently the signature has changed now I have to do return DTMLFile("authform",globals()) but this results always in: Error type: KeyError Error value: __name__ File /usr/local/ZopePark/tozo2.aixtraware.de/ZInstanceHome/Extensions/POSHClient .py, line 62, in GetAuth (Object: pay) File /usr/local/ZopePark/ZopeVersions/Zope-2.4.3/lib/python/App/special_dtml.py, line 173, in __init__ (Object: HTMLFile) File /usr/local/ZopePark/ZopeVersions/Zope-2.4.3/lib/python/App/special_dtml.py, line 106, in __init__ (Object: HTMLFile) File /usr/local/ZopePark/ZopeVersions/Zope-2.4.3/lib/python/App/Common.py, line 160, in package_home The lines starting from 103 in special_dtml.py def __init__(self,name,_prefix=None, **kw): if _prefix is None: _prefix=SOFTWARE_HOME elif type(_prefix) is not type(''): _prefix=Common.package_home(_prefix) args=(self, os.path.join(_prefix, name + '.dtml')) if not kw.has_key('__name__'): kw['__name__']=os.path.split(name)[-1] apply(ClassicHTMLFile.inheritedAttribute('__init__'),args,kw) and the lines starting from 167 in special_dtml.py def __init__(self, name, _prefix=None, **kw): self.ZBindings_edit(defaultBindings) self._setFuncSignature() apply(DTMLFile.inheritedAttribute('__init__'), (self, name, _prefix), kw) >From looking at the code, I would assume, that _prefix is None, since it is nowhere defined. But _prefix=Common.package_home(_prefix) is executed. What's wrong here ? Python Base Classes, ZObjectManager, and Subobjects
by Ross Patterson 29 Jan '02

29 Jan '02

I'm transitioning a product from pure ZClasses to a hybrid product python base classes and ZClasses. So this is my first time working with python products. I'm trying to setup a python base class to provide a central place to subclass ZObjectManager and CatalogAware that I can rebase later without the ZClass hassle. But when I try to create a ZClass in the product and subclass to one of my python base classes, I don't get the subobjects tab in my ZClass. Clearly I'm missing somthing basic here, but I have scoured the docs and mailing lists for a clue before coming here. BTW, I did find this post earlier that no one seemed to reply to, and below that are my actual python files. ---quoted message--- I want to create a Python base class that inherits from the ObjectManager and has the "Subobjects" tab in the ZClass management screen. Inheriting from OFS.ObjectManager.ObjectManager does not do this - I need to inherit from ZClasses.ObjectManager.ObjectManager. I still don't know how to have the Subobjects propertysheet thing work. I've tried the two ways I listed in my last email of doing this, but I can't get it to work. One way was: class MyObjectManager(ZClasses.ObjectManager.ObjectManager): " .... " class ZMyObjectManager: """Mix-in for Object Management """ _zclass_=myObjectManager propertysheets=ZClasses.ObjectManager.ZObjectManagerPropertySheets() manage_options=( {'label': 'Subobjects', 'action' :'propertysheets/subobjects/manage'}, ) and then register ZMyObjectManager as a base class in __init__.py. The other way was: class MyObjectManager(ZClasses.ObjectManager.ObjectManager): propertysheets=ZClasses.ObjectManager.ZObjectManagerPropertySheets() manage_options=( {'label': 'Subobjects', 'action' :'propertysheets/subobjects/manage'}, ) and register that as the base class. Neither of them work. -- Itamar S.T. itamars(a)ibm.net ---end quoted message--- #!/usr/bin/python # __init__.py from ZClasses import createZClassForBase from PartBase import PartBase from SitePartBase import SitePartBase from ProjectPartBase import ProjectPartBase def initialize( context ) : createZClassForBase( PartBase, globals(), 'ZCPPartBase' ) createZClassForBase( SitePartBase, globals(), 'ZCPSitePartBase' ) createZClassForBase( ProjectPartBase, globals(), 'ZCPProjectPartBase' ) #!/usr/bin/python # PartBases.py from ZClasses.ObjectManager import ZObjectManager from Products.ZCatalog.CatalogAwareness import CatalogAware class PartBases ( CatalogAware, ZObjectManager ) : """ Base Classes for all ZCP Parts """ #!/usr/bin/python # PartBase.py from PartBases import PartBases class PartBase ( PartBases ) : """ Base Class for ZCP Parts """ #!/usr/bin/python # Products/ZCapitalProjects/SitePartBases.py from PartBases import PartBases class SitePartBase ( PartBases ) : """ Base Class for ZCP Site Parts """ #!/usr/bin/python # Products/ZCapitalProjects/ProjectPartBases.py from PartBases import PartBases class ProjectPartBase ( PartBases ) : """ Base Class for ZCP Project Parts """ ----------------------------------------------------------------- | Ross Patterson rossp(a)cats.ucsc.edu | | Programmer/Analyst (831)459-2792 | | Physical Planning & Construction Fax:(831)423-7436 | | UC Santa Cruz http:www2.ucsc.edu/ppc | -----------------------------------------------------------------

Re-read the post -- the dll's my own make. All it does is pull a set of rows from a database for use in a calculation, returning the results of the calculation. ---------- Keith J. Your best bet right now is to contact the maintainers of that dll (or read their developer docs) and find out what kinds of threading issues apply.

hopefully a simple hook (non-html version)
by Matt 29 Jan '02

29 Jan '02

Can't believe I sent an HTML email, sorry about that. I was wondering if there was a simple hook into ObjecManager or something like this that lets me know when an item in the container has been altered. At present I have to actively mine the container for changes to bobobase modification times of the objects it contains. I have wrapped a small product around Folder.Folder to allow me to do this, but would like to find a hook that lets me know when the modification time of a contained object has changed. Matt

manageAddProperty for a Multiple Selection in a Python Script
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 29 Jan '02

29 Jan '02

A python script is attempting to add a DTML Document to a folder. The folder has a property called "select_keywords" which, as the name implies, is a list of keywords for the user. A form is in the folder to allow the user to add informaiton. In the form is a list of the keywords from the select_keywords property of the form (the parameter is called 'user_keywords'). The user can then select the appropriate keywords and press the Submit button. The python script then creates a new DTML Document object and then attempts to add a multiple selection property to the new DTML Document object. In doing so, the object is created, but there is no link to the newly created multiple select property (called my_keywords) and the select_keywords property. The code... my_obj = getattr(context, id) my_obj.manageAddProperty('my_keywords', user_keywords, 'multiple selection', select_keywords) ... runs correctly, but the link between my_keywords and select_keywords is nott established, so Zope cannot use that field. The code... my_obj = getattr(context, id) my_obj.manageAddProperty('my_keywords', user_keywords, 'multiple selection', select_variable='select_keywords') .. generates an error (complaining about "select_variable"). Does anyone know the trick to make this work properly? Thanks in advance, Ron select_variable = select_keywords

Well, it does, but the base ref can be used for other uses too, inside zope. I'm quite sure that it would be just as simpl to set the link to the image with an absolute path instead, and actually having the base reference pointing to the document. At least this has no secondary effects. That's quite true, of course smacking everything with a base href like I mentioned also can take away from some of the very reasons that folks use Zope, too. I think I also suffer from "old habits die hard" syndrome, from working on static pages so long. Thanks for the clarification, though. Jeff
