DLL Release
by Scheck, Herman 27 Nov '01

27 Nov '01

Hi all, My question is on releasing DLLs/threads used by external python methods in Zope (ver 2.4.1). Once a COM object (QuoteDB.dll in the following example) is accessed via an external python method (below) and the process is completed... ---------------------- import win32com.client import pythoncom def GetRFQNumbers(DSN, UID, PWD): # retrieves request for quote numbers # # arguments: DSN - data source name # UID - data source user id # PWD - data source password # returns : record tuple of rfqNumbers pythoncom.CoInitialize() QuoteDB = win32com.client.Dispatch("QuoteDB.BusinessRules") rfqNumbers = QuoteDB.GetRFQNumbers(DSN, UID, PWD) return rfqNumbers[0] ---------------------- ... the DLL becomes locked until the Zope service is shut down. Problem here is that I do not want to have to shut down the Zope service containing multiple applications just to replace/upgrade a single DLL used by a single application. Am I missing something in the python code to release the DLL/thread before returning? Or, is Zope maintaining the thread in some way? How do I programmatically kill/close the thread when it is no longer in use? Thanks, -Herman

by Jason C. Leach 27 Nov '01

hi, I'd like to make a small modification to Document Library: I have added a property 'document_id' to the documents. In the now I would like that property to display when I list the items (document_list, document_idem_list). Any ideas? Thanks, j. -- ...................... ..... Jason C. Leach .. Use Zope internal style sheets
by Lars Heber 27 Nov '01

27 Nov '01

Hello, I'm about of building my own management screens for some ZClasses. They should totally fit the zopish outfit. Does anyone know where the used style sheets are stored? What I did to build my management screen was to have a look at the rendered HTML code of an authentic Zope management screen, use the code and replace it by DTML where necessary. Even the Paste button only appears when it should. But I don't want to insert the style sheets hard coded, or pack it into an own document, but I want to use the real Zope CSS. Where can I find it? I also started to play around with manage_tabs. I only found this object by property. Is it some kind of secret, or where can I find more of those extremely useful things (+documentation)? BTW: I recently asked how to change the headline of a self-written documentation for the Help System which is display on the Contents tab. I found that a Product Help does not have a property title. It just somehow takes the id of the product. But when this id of the product is changed, the Help remains with the old id though. How can I change this? Thanks for any suggestions. -- Lars Heber, mailto:Lars.Heber@t-systems.de T-Systems, debis Systemhaus GEI GmbH, Geschaeftsstelle Sachsen

Re: Checking if cookies enabled

Another possibility without using any JavaScript, thus independent from the JS settings of the user is: DTML method cookieTest: <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setCookie('cookiesAllowed', 'yes')"> <html><head> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=cookieTestComplete"> </head> <body> <a href="cookieTestComplete">Redirecting to cookieTestComplete...</a> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> DTML method cookieTestComplete: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-if "REQUEST.cookies.has_key('cookiesAllowed')"> <h1>Cookies are allowed!</h1> <dtml-else> <h1>Cookies are not allowed!</h1> </dtml-if> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.expireCookie('cookiesAllowed')"> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Successfully tested with NS 4.78, IE 5.0. There could perhaps be problems if the users has (somehow) turned off auto-redirecting... That's why there is the link left in cookieTest. -- Lars Heber, mailto:Lars.Heber@t-systems.de T-Systems, debis Systemhaus GEI GmbH, Geschaeftsstelle Sachsen

Multiple queries in a ZSQL method (MySQLda)
by Gilles Lenfant 27 Nov '01

27 Nov '01

Hi, I've been trying to execute 2 SQL queries in one ZSQL method with the traditional ";" separator I always got a syntax error when both queries work perfectly from MySQL command line !? I made a workaround with 2 distincts ZSQL method and a python script to make the glue but that's heavy. Is there a workaround to have those 2 SQL queries in one ZSQL method ? Thanks in advance. --Gilles

Re: [Zope] Generating thumbnails on the fly using PIL

From: "Pieter Claerhout" <Pieter_Claerhout(a)CreoScitex.com> > Hope that somebody can help with this. Well, you can look at the attached product, it is an subclass of Image that has thumbnails. Actually, if you remove EasyResourcse and EasyDublinCore from the constructor of the product, it should work in a standard Zope environment. The code that does the resizing is this part: def makeimage(self, maxx=0, maxy=0, ratio=1, ftype='JPEG'): """Creates an image from the orginal with specified size.""" if self.orig_data == None: tmpdata = self.data else: tmpdata = self.orig_data file = StringIO(str(tmpdata)) if maxx <> 0 and maxy <> 0: im = PIL.Image.open(file) if ratio==1: # keep aspect-ratio aspectx = float(im.size[0]) / float(maxx) aspecty = float(im.size[1]) / float(maxy) if aspectx > aspecty: maxy = float(im.size[1]) / aspectx if aspectx < aspecty: maxx = float(im.size[0]) / aspecty maxx = int(maxx) maxy = int(maxy) if im.mode!='RGB' and im.mode!='CMYK': im = im.convert("RGB") im.load() im = im.resize((maxx, maxy), PIL.Image.BICUBIC) newfile = StringIO() im.save(newfile, ftype, optimize=1) return newfile.getvalue(), TYPEINFOMAP[ftype]['content_type'], im.size[0], im.size[1] return None, '', 0, 0 Hope it helps.

Tarversal Issue
by Stadtverwaltung Schwarzenberg 27 Nov '01

27 Nov '01

Hi there... I got a little Problem with Zope (d'uh - what else would I wite this mail for ;-) ). I am trying to create a new website on an already existing Zope Server which alread hosts another site. So I created a new Folder (let's call it "bar") on the root Folder of this other server added a SiteRoot Objcet, etc.... Now there is one Problem: this old server defines a property "foo" in its root Folder. By accident I use the same name for an HTML form value. So what happens is that every time I submit this form my REQUEST.form['foo'] is overwritten by the other servers root folder "foo" property because Zope first traverses the ZODB and only then scans the REQUEST object. So if I write <dtml-var foo missing=""> I get the value of root.foo instead of REQUEST.form['foo']. Now it would be easy to rename my foo attribute but I used it in quite a lot of places, so I this would mean a lot of work. But what I thought about is, if it is possible to somehow tell zope to stop traversal once it reached my the "bar" folder, one level beforereching the root folder. Is there any way to achieve this?
