Zope crash (was RE: [Zope] odd zope behavior...)
by Keith J. Farmer 18 Nov '01

I took a closer look at the application logs. I'm seeing suspicious messages about ZOPE restarting. I checked the TimeOut values, and they're about 10x longer than the longest calculation takes. ---------- Keith J. Farmer kfarmer(a)thuban.org http://www.thuban.org

Converting HTML to StructuredText (and the reverse)
by Lennart Regebro 18 Nov '01

18 Nov '01

I'm interested in converting HTML to StructuredText (and back again). The "back again" part is pretty easy, although I don't want headers to be <H1>, I want them to be <p class="h1">. If you can give me any hints about that I'll be grateful. Is it possible without subclassing the current classes? Anyway: The big issue is converting from HTML to StructuredText. I can't find any classes that does this today, if anybody have any code for doing this or can point me to some I'd be very happy. Thanks!

odd zope behavior -- variable size limits?
by Keith J. Farmer 17 Nov '01

17 Nov '01

I've got a calculation engine written in C, extending python. I've noticed that nearly every time I try to run a calculation using it, via http://www.thuban.org/astro, apache complains that it can't reach the zope host (error 502). This happens with the Get Poly function in particular, though the Get Coords function also suffers. Given time, a refresh will pull up the results. I suspect the pages are eventually cached, and it is that cache which I access. I'm trying to figure out how best to solve this dilemma. The process for Get Poly works like this, using external methods which act as stubs to the C extension: *call dataset cruncher (internal to the cruncher, get big uber dataset [~100k, more or less], perform calculations that run about 10secs or less, and then pass back roughly 20 numbers as a result) *call result verifier (repeat the above, comparing the original dataset against the results from the last step, which are a least-squares polynomial fit, and return the rms and maximum errors) .. then display the results. I notice that there's a lot of disk activity when this process starts up. I'm wondering if it's always reloading the dll file, or if apache's too impatient, or what. The platform is a Win2k Server, with roughly 200M+ free at any given moment. The database is an MSDE/SQL Server database being accessed through ODBC. ---------- Keith J. Help! Data.fs corrupted
by zope＠meadowbase.com 17 Nov '01

17 Nov '01

Hi everyone, I'm an experienced Zope user/developer and have never seen anything like this. It appears data.fs is corrupted. Here's the message I get when attempting to start Zope (it's version 2.4.0 on solaris): ------ 2001-11-17T00:51:59 PROBLEM(100) ZODB FS FS21 warn: /local/home/a1142/zope/Zope-2.4.0/var/Data.fs time-stamp reduction at 4995254 ------ 2001-11-17T00:51:59 PROBLEM(100) ZODB FS FS21 warn: /local/home/a1142/zope/Zope-2.4.0/var/Data.fs has invalid status, , at 4995254 ------ 2001-11-17T00:51:59 PANIC(300) ZODB FS FS21 ERROR: /local/home/a1142/zope/Zope-2.4.0/var/Data.fs has invalid transaction header at 4995254 ------ 2001-11-17T00:51:59 PANIC(300) z2 Startup exception Traceback (innermost last): File /local/home/a1142/zope/Zope-2.4.0/z2.py, line 564, in ? I use WebDAV to edit ZPT documents, but had never done so on this particular installation. I changed the start file to open a WebDAV port, and it seemed to work. I was able to browse, edit, and save ZPT's into the database via WebDAV. Meanwhile I had a browser open, operating in a Version. I was curious to see if there's anyway to work in a Version via WebDAV (meaning a Zope Version). Doesn't seem like there is. After the WebDAV save I started getting cryptic traceback/error messages in the browser. (Sorry I didn't record the messages, they were errors about type conversion. One of them was about trying to convert a longint, and another one made specific references to dates.) Those errors appeared whenever I hit the "Undo" tab on any object in the database. So I stopped Zope and this error comes up when I try to restart. Has anyone experienced this problem? How can I prevent it in the future? Is there any way to recover the data in Data.fs? Thanks! --- Francis Potter

RE: [Zope] Deleting ZClasses

At 07:40 AM 11/17/01 -0500, you wrote: >hmmm. PTKDemo sounds like the old CMFDemo. This is a clean rebuild with none of those old Products. This *must* be coming from my Data.fs, which makes me concerned I'm going to have to clean it somehow... >Let's not confuse the Products directory in the files system and the ZMI. >Do all your instance deleting in the ZMI. >Find all 4 of your troubling zclasses instances and select the delete >button. >This is rather a simple thing. Re: Getting SQL record names in python script?
by azbok＠yahoo.com 17 Nov '01

17 Nov '01

Thanks for all the info about getting the record names. I used the names function and it works great!! If anyone is interested, I searched for dictionaries in zope.org and found a nice link explaining the ZSQL results class. The results class is the object returned from a ZSQL method. The link is http://www.zope.org/Members/spinwing/ZSQL_Results
