Xron, ZScheduler and Zope 2.4

Does anyone have Xron or ZScheduler working with 2.4? These apparently need to be patched to work with 2.4. I tried some instructions that have been suggested (import DateTime fix, etc.) and they have gotten me close to having it work but it still doesn't work. What would be most useful is to have someone send a patched working version of one of these that they might have on hand. Note, I am not a Zope developer or Python guru, so anything less than very specific instructions are of limited assistance. Thanks P. Johnson

SearchIndex deprecation warning

Hi! I would like to get rid of this: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- .../lib/python/SearchIndex/__init__.py:91: Deprecation Warning: ... blah ... Please use instead the re-factored modules in Products/PluginIndexes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apparently one or more of my installed (third-party) products is causing this. I don't know of any explicit use of the SearchIndex module, so I guess it is some ZCatalog function being called that's relying on it (reindex?). Does anyone know which calls cause this to happen, so I can replace them with the "proper" ones? Thanks very much in advance, Danny

Problems with Zope 2.4.3 package for Mac OSX

I've had some problems with the OSX package release described at: http://www.zope.org/Members/richard/zope_for_osx/news_item 1. The package install appears to set permissions in a way that doesn't allow running on port 80. I've compared key files and directories with my previous 2.4.0 that I do run on port 80 and I don't see significant differences, but I must be missing something. Perhaps this has something to do with starting from the OSX GUI (rather than 'sudo' from the terminal), but I'm able to start my 2.4.0 on port 80 with a copy of the GUI. (Running on higher ports is OK except for the SSL-related error noted below). 2. There appears to be a path problem with the M2Crypto module. Both the https and secure webdav modules fail to find it on the attempted import. A search reveals an M2Crypto directory containing _m2crypto.py, but explicitly specifying that path doesn't help. Zope as a service on NT

Hi folks; Currently we have Zope (2.4.2) running on a test Windows NT server as we test different products for use as the framework for our corporate Intranet. Zope is installed behind IIS using PCGI, but our admins have some concerns about how Zope runs, and I cannot verify with my limited knowledge of the product. I know on NT there are two ways to run Zope, either as a "standard" program, or as a service. For our needs, I believed the service would be ideal; but according to one of the admins when Zope is run as a service it is a "hack" that launches the "standard" way of running Zope. Personally, I had assumed that it was running in the background like any other NT service (maybe simply because I never saw a console window). The crux of the situation is (understandably) that the IT department does not want to run anything that they manually have to restart. Is there any definitive answer/description available about how Zope runs on NT? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks; Jeff Robinson Graphic Designer Motor Coach Industries

*NEWBIE* What is the best way to pass vars from a formulator validator to an SQL method?

So I have a formulator page and then a page to validate it (makeStory). After validation I want to call a ZSQL method called SQLinsertStory, which will simply take all the form fields and insert them into the DB. SQLinsertStory looks like this: INSERT INTO stories (title,author,des,email,phone,address,URL,article,file1,file2,file3) VALUES ( <dtml-sqlvar title type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar author type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar des type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar email type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar phone type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar address type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar hpage type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar article type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar file1 type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar file2 type="string" > ,<dtml-sqlvar file3 type="string" > ) with parameters for every field. What is the best way to call that Method and pass the necessary variables from makeStory. And how can I test if it worked or not? Thankx Jacob

how do I show the contents of a sub folder using the dtml-in tag?

I have a folder called alpha containing a folder subalpha. In a DTML document within alpha I want to list the contents of subalpha using objectValues. Basically I would like to use something like <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues(['Folder'])">, but going DOWN instead of UP... I haven't found anything in the various newsgroups (except for <dtml-in "subalpha.objectValues(['Folder'])">, which does not work...). Thanks in advance for any help.

Corporate structure vs navigation structure

Hello, For security management etc. you want the Zope folder structure to represent your corporate structure, but this is not the structure I want to present on our website (which is client oriented). Sure I could make an alternative navigation with DTML, but there must be a more elegant solution, right? A product? Or am I missing something?
