passing *args to external method

Hi List! I've been trying without success to pass from a form in ZPT to an external method an undefined list of parameters (*args). An example: def external_method(var_fix,*args): return 'Vals',var_fix,args ... file _sub_html_: <FORM ACTION="external_method" METHOD="POST" ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data"> <input type="text" name="var_fix" value=""> <input type="hidden" name="arg1" value="test1"> <input type="hidden" name="arg2" value="test2"> <INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="Submit"> </FORM> returns typed value for var_fix and () for args. However, if I do: def external_method(var_fix,arg1,arg2,*args): return "Vals",var_fix,arg1,arg2,args it returns values of arg1 and arg2. But my problem is that the number args cannot be fixed since such arguments depends on other page. I hope one can understand it. And I'd appreciate very much any attention. Many thanks in advance. How can I get a listing of all objects in the Zope 2.62 ZODB?

In Oracle it is easy to get a listing of everything that is in the Oracle database. One simply queries the system view dba_objects. Is there anything similar for the Zope 2.62 ZODB? I have been using Squishdot at goodbyejim.com for years. I still don't understand it. I would love to be able to see everything that it dumps into the ZODB. I understand that one can look at the Squishdot source to find out. But it ought to be possible to query the ZODB directly and observe all of the objects that are in it. Jonathan Mark

zeoctl logreopen doesn't work

Hi, since i'm running my zeo.log at debug level in grows quite large. I've tried to rotate the log daily by renaming the zeo.log and call zeoctl logreopen. ./bin/zeoctl logreopen kill(6319, 31) signal 31 sent to process 6319 But no new zeo.log is created and all log entries still go to the old file. How can I get zeo to create a new logfile without restarting the zeo server completely. LDAPUserFolder : findUser function usage in LDAPUserFolder ver 2.7

Dear users, we hv upgraded from LDAPUserFolder version 2.2 to LDAPUF version 2.7. our current installation ov zope is 2.9.4 now we hv a problem, in our application we hv calls to the findUser function findUser('pa',uid) where 'pa' is LDAP attribute and uid is value. with LDAPUF ver 2.2 it works fine and returns the count of number of records matching attribute 'pa' with value uid. after upgrade to LDAPUF 2.7 this function returns 1 for all cases. we hv read tht in 2.7 a new function has been added searchUsers and findUser has been reduced to a wrapper around searchUsers. can anybody suggest the corresponding line of code for using searchUsers or how to use findUser('pa',uid) in version 2.7. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks and regards -yogeen __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? sending updates with zope.

hi to all, i have this problem which is related to zope. we sell a tool inside zope that we install on a machine that stay at our customer. We need to find a easy but powerful way to update the tool if there are bugs or new features . after some research i've found zope synchronizer which is quite good but it miss some function (i.e. checking the file instead of just checking mtime ) and i would like if there are other products or solutions Any hint is well appreciated. thanks Samuele

question on URL styling

I am making a survey that has many very similar pages all in one directory. The page templates are called page-1.html, page-2.html, ... page-n.html. I am using two submit buttons on each of the pages; one for 'Next' and one for 'Previous' so that I catch changes to the form elements in each direction. I use a python script as index_html, and hit it on each submit (<form action=".">), and then redirect to the appropriate page, whether that page is current_page++ or current_page--. I also stuff all form variables into SESSION in the index_html python script. What I am wondering though, is how to display the 'page' portion of the address - right now it always just displays as http://myzopesite.com/workingdirectory/ I would like it to display http://myzopesite.com/workingdirectory/page-1.html, http://myzopesite.com/workingdirectory/page-1.html, etc. The pages are all accessible directly by those names, but by always going to index_html and returning the page via "return container[next_page](context, request)" I never see this part in the URL. Thanks for any suggestions.

Nowhere does that website say that Sakai is an application server - which is what Zope is. It seems to be a "collaboration tool", so maybe you could compare it to SchoolTool on Zope (3, I believe)? Upload file to server for encoding...

Hello Zope community, I just installed Zope-2.9.4 in a windows XP SP2 . I'm making a web site that the visitors should: A) Upload a file to the server B)After the file is uploaded , I have write a python program to encode the file C)When the encoding is finish, user must download the file back to his machine. I'm very new to Zope and I choose it because I thought it should have an easy and good communication with python. Since I have terminated the python program that does what I want, I have no idea how to accomplish the requests above. A -> I know I will need external access to the file system, is there a product that can help me in that ? B -> my program works as I want like a python program , it will need any modification so I can use it in Zope ? C -> I think I will need also some kind of progress indicator so the user can know when the encoding is done (some time takes more than a minute). Any ideas how the user will download back the file? should the download begin automatically after the encoding ? Thanks in advance...
