I don't know Sakai either, but a 30 seconds look at http://sakaiproject.org makes me belive that you are compaing apples and oranges. Nowhere does that website say that Sakai is an application server - which is what Zope is. It seems to be a "collaboration tool", so maybe you could compare it to SchoolTool on Zope (3, I believe)? Upload file to server for encoding...

Hello Zope community, I just installed Zope-2.9.4 in a windows XP SP2 . I'm making a web site that the visitors should: A) Upload a file to the server B)After the file is uploaded , I have write a python program to encode the file C)When the encoding is finish, user must download the file back to his machine. I'm very new to Zope and I choose it because I thought it should have an easy and good communication with python. Since I have terminated the python program that does what I want, I have no idea how to accomplish the requests above. A -> I know I will need external access to the file system, is there a product that can help me in that ? B -> my program works as I want like a python program , it will need any modification so I can use it in Zope ? C -> I think I will need also some kind of progress indicator so the user can know when the encoding is done (some time takes more than a minute). Any ideas how the user will download back the file? should the download begin automatically after the encoding ? Thanks in advance...

Authentication on a Folder?

Hi, I want to restrict access to a subfolder: Folder structure: --------------------------------- Root Folder +- MySite +- Admin Access limitation: --------------------------------- My Site: Public for all Admin: Only with Basic Authentication Notes: --------------------------------- My page templates under 'MySite' use Script (Python) calls from Admin folder like: index_html (in MySite): --------------------------------- <html> ... <tal:contain define="user container/Admin/getUser"> ... </tal:container> ... </html> But 'getUser' should not be able for access from outside the application server. assign REQUEST object to redirect?

Hi, If I return n Script (Python) the following container.REQUEST.form['id'] = 1 return context.index_html(container.REQUEST) then I have access to request/form/id within the page template index_html. Now I must redirect instead of returning like return container.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect('index_html') But how can I give request object in a redirect. Hanging site

Hi I have a problem with a site running on Zope 2.7.5. After a restart the site serves request happily for a while and then hangs, meaning: - The server processes are still alive (I can see them with ps) - New attempts of page views do not show in the Z2.log - Browser just reports time out (not that the site is not available) - DeadlockDebugger does not respond either There is no recognisable pattern looking at the last requests in the Z2.log before the site hangs. The last requests are mostly just view requests of pages, which display fine after a restart. I've tried packing the ZODB (which worked fine, but did not resolve the issue). I've run the fsrecover.py, but that didn't seem to find anything. I have moved the Data.fs to another machine where I have a Zope 2.7.8 and tried some tests there, but again couldn't find anything pointing towards a possible source of the problem. hello andreas, am hereby giving the trace from log file. other than LDAPUF we r not using any other 3rd party products. what i want is just to get basic authentication popup dialog to come. if it comes then the problem will be solved i guess. is there a way to configure the application so that the popup dialog pops up when the application is accessed ? coz the error mesg is that its trying find user Anonymous in LDAP and not finding. if popup comes then it may pass the entered username/password to LDAPUF i guess.
