RE: [Zope] Quick Security Question (Anonymous "Add Documents, Ima ges, and Files")

It may be easier/safer to use the proxy tab on your python script to give it "manager" status (or the like) giving only the script the ability to upload images. Without a proxy the script would run with the permissions of the requesting user. Hi If I have a file in a directory with MySQL database connection in the directory. The file contains lines with each line containing comma separated fields. The database works and I can make routines to list, display, edit & delete the records using Znolk I can also insert the file from the MySQL command line in a UNIX shell How do I read each line using an SQL INSERT (or UPDATE) in Zope. (python or DTML ?? and how?) regards Greg __________________________________ Greg McCall - greg.mccall(a)telstra.com http://www.message-us.com

silly problem that's got me stumped
by Chris Ryland 08 Nov '01

I'm trying in my standard_html_header (Zope 2.3.3) to detect the presence of a certain property on a file in a folder (specially, the "content" DTML Method, which is invoked by the index_html code, which says <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var content> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> All pretty standard. Now, the problem is, that if I put a certain property on the content file in this folder, it seems to be inherited by all subfolders' content files. Is that true? What's the canonical way to say "for this particular content file, does it have the following property?" -- Cheers! Chris Ryland Em Software, Inc. www.emsoftware.com

Re: [Zope] FTP hangage

I hope you don't mind that I re-directed this back to the list. Doh, W2K! Darn, I even read that in your post. It *would* work, if W2K's ftp command had a switch that allowed it to use passive mode. A quick search of knowledge base turns up: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q271/0/78.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=… The gist of the article is: The FTP clients that ship with Windows do not support passive mode. Therefore, they always need to negotiate a data port when issuing a command that returns data. Never fear, however. It appears that you aren't the only poor soul that has been in this situation. In fact, a quick google search turned up some instructions on the GNU website that shows you how to get around the unfortunate problems with Window's screwed up ftp client. http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/windows/faq8.html#ange-ftp Basically, you need to download a different ftp client (there's a link in on this page) and tell Emacs to use it. Good luck, Jason "Chris Ryland" <cpr(a)emsoftware.com> writes: > Does that work for W2K as well as Linux? Doesn't seem to. > -- > Cheers! > Chris Ryland > Em Software, Inc. > www.emsoftware.com

anything wrong with this?

If I want Zope to my primary web server, any problem running it at port 80, and apache at 8080 for things like static files, mailman, etc.? (Flipping their usual ports.) I know it'll work, but I guess I'm asking if there are any downsides to this plan. Thanks. -- Cheers! Chris Ryland Em Software, Inc. www.emsoftware.com

Hi, you can use a modified version of the python script they used in the zope book ( tree-tag ) to get all documents in a folder that have the property visible = true. http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/AdvDTML.dtml MfG Steffen -- become who you are

Purging Z2.log
by Pieter Claerhout 08 Nov '01

08 Nov '01

Hello, is there an easy way to purge the logfile without stopping the Zope process. I'm using AWStats for the statistics of my website, and have it sheduled to run every hour. Since it only processes the new lines, I would like to purge the logfile after each update of the statistics, to speed up the processing. Of course I don't want to stop Zope to do so. Is there a trick to do this? By the way, anyone ever thought of a Zope based statistics software? Cheers, Pieter

Zope + MySQL problem
by Chris Gray 08 Nov '01

08 Nov '01

I have a working Zope site that I want to move to a more powerful machine. I've set up the new machine (Debian GNU/Linux). I've moved Data.fs and everything looks fine. I've dumped the mysql database and reloaded it and everything looks fine ... except a query to the MySQL database that retrieves an integer record id value now retrieves it with the suffixed 'L' for a python long integer. This 'L' goes into a URL and breaks the next step in the process since Zope gives an error that '1727L' (or whatever) is not a proper integer. The code is basically the following inside a dtml-in loop on a database query: <a href="collect_stats.html?record_id=&dtml-record_id;"> This used to render as: <a href="collect_stats.html?record_id=1727"> and now renders as: <a href="collect_stats.html?record_id=1727L"> Why? Thanks, Chris
