sql odbc - How work transactions ??

How could I do a transaction with ZODBC DA ?? I am accesing to a Jet Database (.mdb file) If I put several sql commands in a same zsql method (separated with ;), the driver complais. Or is it implicit ? (ie I shoud call several Zsql method from a Python script) -- __o _ \<_ (_)/(_) Saludos de Julián EA4ACL -.-

Thanks for the replies. The problem is now sorted, and was simply down to a permission in the security settings for the relevant Document store folder being enabled rather than disabled (Add Document Library Files Without Review).

Installing ZmxODBC

Hello folks, I'm trying to install ZmxODBC on a Windows 2000 machine running Zope 2.4.1. In the Products administration view the traceback of the product import tells me that the module mx.ODBC was not found. But the product installed the mx section in lib/python/Shared as described in the install instructions. Maybe the python search path does not fit. dynamic update of XML-Documents from local FileSystem

Dear List, is it possible to link xml-documents residing in the local filesystem to zope via the XML-Document Product dynamically. It means that changes in the xml-document are reflected in zope on the fly? If somebody knows about that, I would be very thankful for some hints how to do it? Elena

import from External Method

Hi How do I tell Zope that a python-module which I import from a Zope "External Method" has changed? Please help, since I can't believe that Zope expects just External Methods consisting of just one file. Regards, Marc

can not use -L in zope startup

Hi, I would like to use Unicode support in Zope (to use non ASCII characters in structured text) However when I try to start zope with the -l command line switch I get an error. The specified locale is not supported by your system. See your operating system documentation for more information on locale support. I tried to set the environment variable LC_ALL to different values. Always to the same effect. This is on both win2000 and Linux. What can I do ? thanks Robert

First, you might want to take Danny Adairs advice (as posted to the list), as he is correct in that if you have quite a few users, his method will work much faster when checking if a user exists. Also, the parameters that should be in the REQUEST for manage_users are: name password confirm roles domains So you will have to either 1. Change your form to submit these same variable names, or, 2. do a context.REQUEST.set('name', context.REQUEST.form['Username']) etc, for each item you submit in the form and then pass REQUEST on to manage_users. After making sure the right variables are defined in the request, your first attempt: context.acl_users.manage_users('Add', context.REQUEST) should work for you. Tricky (I think!) external method question...

Hi, I'm a relatively experienced python programmer who's just recently gotten into Zope. I've downloaded the pdf of 'The Zope Book' and looked through the various How-To's but I'm stuck on the following problem: Starting from the top.... I have a DTML Document which is essentially a simple data input form. The 'ACTION' attribute of the 'FORM' statement calls a python Script to clean up and format the data. As part of this, the Script calls a number of External Methods, all of which are written in python. I do this by using the 'container' binding (e.g. x = container.myExternalMethod()). Some of these External Methods in turn import various .py files from my personal python directory which is totally separate and apart from where Zope/Extensions lives in the filesystem. In general all this works -- I get the results I expect. My problem comes from the one External Method that imports a .py file that contains a subclassed Class. The External Method looks like this: import MySubClass def aFunction(self,a,b,c): d = MySubClass.MySubClass(a,b,c) return d MySubClass in turn looks like this: import MyClass class MySubClass(MyClass.MyClass): def __init__(self,a,b,c): """Do some initialization that differs from MyClass""" return d The External Method above dies when it tries to create 'd'. The traceback I get from Zope says: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: __init__() should return None I'm stumped by this. I think there is some sort of namespace confusion going on but I'm not sure. If anyone can shed any light on this (and save some of my hair!) I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Steve

Dear List, and in the same way to my first question about xml-documtents is it possible to link msword-documents residing in the local filesystem to zope via the MSWord-Document Product, the Word-Munger Product or by any other means dynamically. So that changes in the external word-document are reflected in zope on the fly and I could reference to the content by dtml-var? If somebody knows about that or has done it, I would be very thankful for some hints how to do it? Elena
