Structured Text buggy in Zope 2.4.1
by Ivan Kurmanov 01 Oct '01

01 Oct '01

Hi, I'm new to Zope and to Python. I have installed Zope 2.4.1 and Python 2.1.1 recently. And I think that Structured Text in Zope works incorrectly now. While going through Tutorial I was a bit annoyed by strings like standard_html_footer rendered in HTML as "standard<u>html</u>footer", but then I figured out that this is not the only place where this happens. In particular I claim that lib/python/StructuredText/DocumentClass.py is wrong. At least it's behaviour doesn't correspond to the Structured Text description in the begining of lib/python/StructureText/ClassicStructuredText.py I think regular expressions in DocumentClass.py for figuring out the underlined, strong, emphasized and so on portions of a structured text are mistakenly oversimplified and I managed to instead use those from ClassicStructuredText.py which seem to be very carefully crafted. I will email my fixed version of DocumentClass.py (i'm a Python newbie!) to anyone interested. -- Ivan

Usersession - how to get one sessionid per open browser?
by Etienne Labuschagne 01 Oct '01

01 Oct '01

Hi all, When I open a different browser from a link in one of my pages (<a href="newPage" target="_blank" . . .) I get the same session Id for the new browser window. I would like to treat each open browser as a different session - how do I do this? Surely if I invalidate the session manually on opening the new browser, I will detroy the session data for the other browser (which I don't want to do). Thanks Etienne

Re: [Zope] CatalogAwareBase doesn't auto-reindex?
by Chris McDonough 01 Oct '01

Hi Bryan, Please keep the mail on the maillist, thanks. This is a limitation when using prebuilt forms from the properties interface. The prebuilt propertysheet editing forms don't call reindex_object. You need to create a custom properties-editing form with a target that calls reindex_object as well as modifying the properties. You could make the target a Python Script or a DTML method, as long as it calls the right stuff (manage_changeProperties and reindex_object) on itself with the right values. MailHost Question (multiple To addresses) from Python Script
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 01 Oct '01

01 Oct '01

Does anyone know how use the MailHost object to send copies of the same message to multiple users from a python script? Using a semi-colon to separate users (e.g., "user1(a)host.com; user2(a)host.com") doesn't work, at least when using MS Exchange. Any hints would be appreciated. Best wishes everyone, Ron

Is this it?
by tom smith 01 Oct '01

I recently asked how to call a ZSQL method in a folder higher up the hierarchy. I can do it if I manually get the parent. This can't be right can it? ### parent = context.REQUEST.PARENTS[0] results = parent.test_sql() t = '' for n in results: t = t + n.project_name + '\n' return t ### Surely, there's a way to do it using acquisition so that it would recursively look higher up the folder structure to find the ZSQL method? RE: [Zope] Add more examples in Zope Book API reference
by hans 01 Oct '01

01 Oct '01

Please, No. what i want, is a quick, concise reference. examples clutter essentials. Material w examples is better left to tutorials.. However, i would like to have indications about which feature works with which zope+python version. also, i would welcome a table of contents with url#section... im glad the Zope Book exits.

ZBabel - does it require an external database ?
by Gitte Wange 01 Oct '01

01 Oct '01

Hello, I have just been looking at the ZBabel product because I need to create a multilinugual CMF site. It looks very great but ... in the README file I read that you should setup a mysql database. Is this required or is it just if you are using a database to store your object datas in ..? HTML validation failure with DTML-renders -- ends tag with />
by Trevor Toenjes 01 Oct '01

01 Oct '01

I tried validating Zope's HTML for the first time and I have come across something strange... Zope inserts '/>' as the close, instead of just '>' for the automatic '<img src...' created when calling an image with DTML. Here is my code just to make sure I am not doing something stupid. bullet is a .gif. <dtml-var bullet> renders... <img src="zope/bullet" alt="" height="14" width="13" border="0" /> It also seems to do this for SiteRoot's insertion into the header. <base href="http://www.myzope.com/folder/folder/" /> -Trevor
