MySqlUser Folder problem with local roles
by Heimo Laukkanen 30 Sep '01

30 Sep '01

I am using mysqlUserFolder-0.6.0 and got stuck intoa a bad problem with local roles. When I give a local role for a user from the security tabs, somehow mysqlUserFolder doesn't respect it at all. When I write in dtml <dtml-if "REQUEST['AUTHENTICATED_USER'].has_role('Manager')"> I don't get what I want, unless the Manager-role is set to the user in the database - and then that setting is valid for the whole directory-structure, which I don't want. Help, anyone? -huima

CatalogAwareBase doesn't auto-reindex?
by Bryan Field-Elliot 29 Sep '01

Hi, I'm new to Zope -- let me first say, I'm totally blown away! I come from a Java/JSP/Servlet world, and Zope is just blowing my mind! I am using the latest Zope release (downloaded and installed yesterday). I am trying to use ZCatalog, and CatalogAwareBase as a base class for my custom ZObject. I have successfully managed to get things straight so that my catalog notices whenever I create new instances of my custom classess (I had to call my catalog "Catalog"). The new instances correctly show up in the "Catalog" tab of my Catalog. However, I am having a terrible time trying to get the Catalog to automatically re-index objects when I modify them. I am using standard property sheet editor page generated in the Product config area for my object class. Is this the wrong thing to do? It's hard to imagine the usefulness of the ZCatalog without it being up-to-date when objects change. I guess I'm just used to the RDBMS world where this is completely expected behavior. I can't tell if this is a bug in CatalogAwareBase, or else if the documentation is lacking. Thanks, Bryan

Trying to get Form/Checkbox value into Python Script
by Ronald L. Chichester 29 Sep '01

29 Sep '01

I've found the problem with getting data into a python script. It is with the checkboxes. If the checkbox is checked, the parameter is passed and the boolean property is set properly. However, if the checkbox is unchecked, I get a Zope error indicating that the parameter was NOT passed. Same form, same everything except in the test second test case the checkbox was unchecked. In essense, it only passes the checkbox value when the checkbox is checked. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? How do you pass boolean values (i.e., from checkboxes) to a python script when the box is unchecked? Thanks, Ron

Oleg wrote: > Why Python Script? Just set the cookie with explicit path in DTML. I did try that first, but it didn't work, and I couldn't find any reference material on how to do it properly. What I tried was: RESPONSE.setCookie('bandwidth', 'high', domain='su.ualberta.ca', path='/', expires='Wed, 19 Feb 2020 14:28:00 GMT') Can you tell me what is wrong with that call? TIA, marc

dtml-sqlgroup where question
by Juergen Gather 29 Sep '01

29 Sep '01

I'm looking for an easy way to find out, if dtml-sqlgroup where generated a where clause or not. Problem: If nothing is entered in my search form, there is no where-clause and I get all DS as result - what I'm looking for is way to add something like where 1=2 if there is no where clause generated by dtml-sqlgroup where - of course I could check each of my 64 input fields ;-) if they were all left blank but I hope there is a better way do achieve this. Any hints ? Thank you, Juergen

List handling and Python Products
by Andrew Kenneth Milton 29 Sep '01

Periodically I don't seem to be able to get lists out of REQUEST when in a Python Product method. I'm running 2.4.1 with python 2.1. I'm sure this worked before. REQUEST['foo'] gives me the first entry in the list, not the list. I've verified that this does work under 2.3.1, and 2.3.2 Anyway in case it's just me, here's a set of tests to try. <form method="POST" action="someMethod"> <select name="foo:list" multiple> <option value="1" selected>1 <option value="2" selected>2 <option value="3" selected>3 </select> <input type="submit" value="Go"> </form> def someMethod(self, REQUEST): print REQUEST['foo'] print type(REQUEST['foo']) def someMethod(self, foo=[], REQUEST): print foo print type(foo) print REQUEST['foo'] print type(REQUEST['foo']) -- Totally Holistic Enterprises Internet| | Andrew Milton The Internet (Aust) Pty Ltd | | ACN: 082 081 472 ABN: 83 082 081 472 | M:+61 416 022 411 | Carpe Daemon PO Box 837 Indooroopilly QLD 4068 |akm(a)theinternet.com.au|

Problem with local roles
by Danni Efraim 29 Sep '01

29 Sep '01

Hi, people. I've got a problem I was hoping someone would be able to help me with. I'm working on a site where people can log in using a web form, and then administer any pages they happen to have administration rights to. I want people to be able to use the login form anywhere on the site (it's in the navigation panel), but the administration links will only appear when the actual rights to administer a page are present, and the administration methods are of course restricted. Anyway, the solution I thought would be adequate would be the following: * Have a top-level UserFolder in which the content managers exist, but having only the restricted role "Guest". * Any user who's supposed to be able to administer a page will have the local role of "ContentManager" in that folder. This, however, does not work at all. No administration links appear, and attempting to access the editing methods doesn't work. And now to the weirder part. Adding a UserFolder to the folder, and adding a user with the same name and password, and the role "ContentManager" works just fine. Keeping dual user entries seems like a maintenance nightmare, though. I'm using Zope 2.3.3, with Python 2.1 on a Linux 2.4.7 (all those lovely numbers!). Am I doing something stupid, or is Zope being mean to me? /Danni

Copying files from a SiteRoot folder
by Trevor Toenjes 29 Sep '01

SiteRoot seems to be preventing me from using ZMI to copy/cut files to other areas in Zope. Is there a solution? (OR is there a different SiteRoot-type product that allows this?) TIA, Trevor

setting cookies in a python script? (OmniWeb issue)
by Marc Dumouchel 29 Sep '01

29 Sep '01

On our Zope site (www.su.ualberta.ca) we have a splash page that lets users choose which version of the site they want to see. That page has links to two methods, each of which set two cookies: splash --> gets set to 'yes', this prevents the user from encountering the splash page on subsequent visits. bandwidth --> gets set to either 'high' or 'low', depending on which method they click through to. The code for one of the methods, "setBandwidthHigh", (the other is almost identical): <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setCookie('bandwidth', 'high', domain='su.ualberta.ca', expires='Wed, 19 Feb 2020 14:28:00 GMT')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setCookie('splash', 'yes', domain='su.ualberta.ca', expires='Wed, 19 Feb 2020 14:28:00 GMT')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('index_html')"> The problem I have is with a browsers such as OmniWeb 4.0.5 (Mac OS X). OmniWeb adds the path of the method to the cookie, so the cookie gets listed in this form: domain: su.ualberta.ca path: /setBandwidthHigh name: bandwidth value: high Other browsers simply list the path as /, and work just fine. Omniweb doesn't work, because when index_html checks for the cookie, the cookie as listed doesn't show up because the path is too specific. Doing a <dtml-var REQUEST> shows no cookie entries under OmniWeb (unless I include the path in the URL- e.g. "www.domain/setBandwidthHigh/samplepage/". Instead, the splash page just comes back up. I'm still pretty new to Python, but I was thinking that if I put a form button on the page to select the site version, I could have a Python script execute when it clicked that set the cookie properly in OmniWeb (i.e., with a path of '/'). Can I set cookies from within a Python script? Any other suggestions to solve my problem?
