manage_addExtFile (was: help me please)
by Dieter Maurer 11 Sep '01

The Zope community generally perfers that questions go onto the main list (zope(a)zope.org) more people can help you and the replies in the mailing list archives helps other with similar questions.... Reply goes to the list, too. Vineet Ahuja writes: > dear dieter, > i amtrying to user extfile.I am using the following my python script:- > -----------python script------------------------- > context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addExtFile(self, id=t1, title=t2, > descr=t3, file=file, content_type='', permission_check=0, REQUEST='') > ---------------python script end------------------ "ExtFile" lives in its own product, not the "OFSP" (Object File System Product). I do not know its name precisely, but I would expect it is similar to "ExtFile". Then you would use: context.manage_addProduct['ExtFile'].manage_addExtFile(.....) I doubt that you should pass the "self". Almost surely, it is passed in implicitely. Dieter

Re: ZODB "Migration"

Hi Paula, Usually, we want to have such questions in the main mailing list. Then lots of people can try to help you and the archived replies can help others in the future when they have similar questions you have now. Therefore, my reply goes to zope(a)zope.org, too. Paula Mangas writes: > .... > But i am worried about the possible need of a future migration > from the old ZODB to new one. > > > How can i do that? Whether this is simple depends on what your objects are. If they are ZInstances, the problem is trivial. You simply add the new property to the ZClass' property sheet. All exisiting objects just see the default value define in the class, until they provide a value for their own. If they are instances of a Product class defined in Python, then it is similarly easy. You just define the new property as an attribute in the class (use only immutable types! --> Python language reference). The objects see this "class" property until they define their own value. Otherwise, you may fiddle with "__setstate__" (think about this only, if you already know what "__setstate__" is used for) or use Chris Withers' "update" script (--> mailing list archives). Dieter

RE: [Zope] Folder renaming

You probably need to setup a proxy role. Go to http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/Security.dtml#6-6 and scroll down until you find "Proxy roles". Zope and Content Management on High bandwidth sites
by Farrell, Troy 11 Sep '01

11 Sep '01

Just a thought for a feature for Zope or the CMF. Today, as many major news sites are overloaded, they are removing images or not serving images from the pages to decrease bandwidth usage. While this is by no means a common occurence, we might consider adding to either zope or the cmf, the ability to turn off serving of images. RE: [Zope] What's up with netcraft?
by Farrell, Troy 11 Sep '01

11 Sep '01

Unfortunately, Zope does not show up like mod_php, mod_perl, or java on an apache server. Netcraft really only notices the http server, so it will not accurately count zope run as a CGI. A site only counts as a zope site if it is running zserver, so that makes it difficult to track. Anyone want to write a mod_zope that merely puts the zope name in the server string for those of us using apache in front :) Troy > -----Original Message----- > From: Brendon Grunewald [mailto:brendon@70south.com] > Sent: Monday, September 10, 2001 4:02 PM > To: zope(a)zope.org > Subject: Re: [Zope] What's up with netcraft? > > > I tested it with my site that IS ZOPE based, but Apache front > ended, and got > the following result: > > "The site www.70south.com is running Apache/1.3.17 (Unix) (SuSE/Linux) > mod_fastcgi/2.2.2 mod_perl/1.24 on Linux." > > Hence it seems that even if you run Zope, if Apache is at the > front end Zope > is not counted :-(
