Anyone know the status of zopesite.com? www.zopesite.com doesn't resolve - for a couple of days. Do I have a browser problem, or are there DNS problems between my ISP and their ISP? --Mark

RE: [Zope] context,container,getParentNode()
by Karsten Kraus 23 Aug '01

23 Aug '01

Hi Horst, as I'm a newbie to zope, I'm not to sure, if I got it right... 'context' stands for the current namespace depending on the document/object a python script was called form. Example: document: /test/testdoc <dtml-var "doThis()"> // now context.getId() should return testdoc <dtml-in "objectValues"> <dtml-var "doThat"> // now context.getId() should return the Id of each child-object (or nothing, if its a doc) </dtml-in> container stands for the folder, the script is definied in. I had simliar problems when calling methods from an instance of a product, so I wrote a function which gets the parent-object and checks if it's a folder. Finally it returns the "nearest" folder. Here's the code: ------------------------------------- # gets the 'nearest' folder def get_nearest_folder(object): parent = object.getParentNode() if(parent.meta_type != 'Folder'): parent = get_nearest_folder(parent) return parent return get_nearest_folder(context) ------------------------------------- Hope that helps! context,container,getParentNode()
by Horst Wald 23 Aug '01

Hi! I never really understood the difference between context and container. Now please don't write "look it up in the documentation", because that's what I've been doing for the last days. What I'm trying to do is write a python-script that returns the parent-folder of the folder from where it has been called. Neither return context.getParentNode() nor return container.getParentNode() seem to work. uploading multiple files into zope
by Joe Gaffey 23 Aug '01

23 Aug '01

Hi all, I have my site all set up and ready to rock (I think :), so now I would like to upload my files from my old system. I was planning on ftp'ing them (mostly just html files) in but realised that thay are spread over a multitiude of subdirectories. Usually one would normally just tar the whole thing, ftp the tar and then untar at the other side, but of course I can't do this in zope (or can I?). Is there any easy way of moving (over 5,000 files in about 800 dirs) without doing each subdirectory individually? Maybe this is not a zope question? Any suggestions welcome......... Joe. Re: Cache-Control not working

So, I figured it out (it not a bad idea to sleep ones in a while). I was hiting the refresh button which makes the browser send a If-Modified-Since request. When I use a link to refresh the page it behaves correctly. Even for images, which was my initial target for browser caching. I have put my work on zope.org, for anyone interested: http://www.zope.org/Members/johanc/EasySystem/EasyImage/index_html Regards, Johan Carlsson > Hi all, > Has anyone be able to use Cache-Control from Zope? > I've tried both of the following headers (the later one for IE5.5) > but I a new DateTime each time. > Maybe it's just my browsers (IE5.5 and Netscape® Communicator 4.75) > > DTML-Method: > <dtml-call "RESPONSE.addHeader('Cache-Control','max-age=100000')"> > <dtml-call "RESPONSE.addHeader('Cache-Control','post-check=100000, pre-check=50000')"> > <html><body> > <pre> > <dtml-var "_.DateTime()"> > </pre> > </body></html> > > > Catched output from ZPublisher.Publish.py (publish): > > HTTP/1.0 200 OK > Server: Zope/Zope 2.3.3 (binary release, python 1.5.2, win32-x86) ZServer/1.1b1 > Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2001 23:06:15 GMT > Connection: Keep-Alive > Content-Type: text/html > Content-Length: 259 > Cache-Control: max-age=100000 > Cache-Control: post-check=100000, pre-check=50000 > <html><body> <pre> 2001/08/23 01:06:15.01 GMT+2 </pre> </body></html> Regards, Johan Carlsson

What the f... with bobobase_modification_time in a method of a ZClass ?
by Gilles Lenfant 23 Aug '01

23 Aug '01

Hi, I want to display the date of an object built from a ZClass from a DTML method with <dtml-var bobobase_modification_time> but I got the authentification box when running this method. OK, I give my usual Manager user/password... I got an "Unauthorized: bobobase_modification_time". OK, I put a Manager proxy to this method... Always the same ! When I can view any other property as anonymous ! Note : <dtml-var bobobase_modification_time> works without any permission in any usual DTML object !!! Someone understands ? TIA --Gilles

FieldIndex NOT
by Brian Brinegar 23 Aug '01

23 Aug '01

I'm probably overlooking this, but has a NOT usage been implemented in fieldIndexes. I would like to have something like catalog.searchResults({'state':'California','state_usage':'not'}) return a list of everything that did not have "California" as the value for state. --Brian

RE: [Zope] rendering image tags (corrected)
by Keith J. Farmer 23 Aug '01

This won't be a complete answer to your questions, but will get through some of the simpler parts as they pertain to Python. In [1] and [2], you're iterating over a sequence of strings, not objects; this is very important to realize. In [1], you use the getitem() method to retrieve the object whose id is provided by the string stored in sequence-item, which Zope then renders in the way you expect. In [2], you're simply retrieving the string. (Perhaps it may work as <dtml-in expr="[image1, image2, image3]">? That is, remove the inner quotes.) In [3], you're retrieving the object, and then trying to call an unnamed method (the method call is implied by the parentheses), passing a value to the argument 'name'. The __call__ method isn't set up to handle this situation. I don't think this behavior can be considered an error in the language. What I think you can do is create a new image subclass, and override the tag method to output a default name if none is given. Based on my admittedly scant knowledge of how Zope deals with Image objects, I believe it stands a good chance of working. Good Luck -- Keith -----Original Message----- From: hamish(a)allan.tc Sent: Wed 08/22/2001 10:51 [1] <dtml-in expr="['image1', 'image2', 'image3']"> <dtml-var expr="_.getitem(_['sequence-item'])"> </dtml-in> - why does the following not yield the same result? [2] <dtml-in expr="['image1', 'image2', 'image3']"> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> (yields: image1\nimage2\nimage3) [3] (using expr="_.getitem(_['sequence-item'])(name=_['sequence-item'])", i.e., dropping the '.tag', yields an AttributeError of value __call__).
