Problems with zclass and instances!!
by Edgardo Zulian 02 Aug '01

02 Aug '01

Hi there: I have created a product 'X' with a zclass call 'X1'. This X1 zclass in the propertysheet has a Common Instance Property Sheet called 'section' (/Control_Panel/Products/X/X1/propertysheets/common/section), with some properties with default values: ie. one of it's property is call ed 'section1' with the default value 'left side', the type of this property is 'string': section1 'left side' string Then in the views of the zclass I 've added a method "propertysheets/section/manage", so when I create an instance I can enter to this propertysheet. So the problem is here: When I create an instance of this 'X1' zclass an I enter to this propertysheet/section , I can change the default value of 'section1' which was 'left side' to 'center side' for example. But then if i change the original default value of my zclass 'X1' to 'right side' let say. The change will not be reflected in my instance, which is okey because i have change d the value to 'center side' before. Another case is when I create another instance of 'X1' zclass without making any change to the value of 'section1' and click on save changes, then if I change the default value in the zclass, the change will not be reflected in this instance. So the question is: There is a way to recognize when an instance will not take the changes that are make to the default values of a propertysheets (in this case thepropertysheet 'section' ) of a zclass from which they inheritance? I try with this lines in an external method, but nothing: self=self._getOb('instanceTest') # instanceTest is the name of the instance of the 'X1 Zclass' a=getattr(self,'meta_type') b=getattr(self.__class__,'meta_type') # in this example the answer was the same: X1 a=eval('self.__class__.propertysheets.section._propertyMap()') b=eval('self.propertysheets.section._propertyMap()') # the answer was again the same: {'id': 'section1', 'type': 'string','meta': {}, 'mode': 'w'} #I try acceding to the zclass to know if it was different from theinstance... a=eval('self.Control_Panel.Products.X.propertysheets.common.section.propertyMap()') # the answer not help: {'id': 'section1', 'type': 'string', 'meta': {}}, I cannot found any property or something that help me... I don't know where to look or what to try next....if anybody can help me with this....... Thanks in advance Edgardo

Passing parameters for Oracle Stored Procedures
by ricardo＠cnbe.mar.org.uk 02 Aug '01

Hi, I have created a package with a procedure name test_2 that has a OUT parameter type number. see code below... PACKAGE test_pkg IS FUNCTION conta_reg RETURN NUMBER; PRAGMA restrict_references(conta_reg,wnds,wnps,rnps); PROCEDURE test_2(tot OUT NUMBER); END; PACKAGE BODY TEST_PKG IS FUNCTION conta_reg RETURN NUMBER IS total NUMBER; BEGIN SELECT COUNT(*) INTO total FROM ASSUNTOS; RETURN total; END; PROCEDURE test_2(tot OUT NUMBER) IS total NUMBER; BEGIN SELECT COUNT(*) INTO total FROM ASSUNTOS; tot:= total; END; I have tried to call the test_2 procedure using this anonimous block: begin TEST_PKG.test_2(:outvar); end; and I received the following error: Error, dco2.DatabaseError: (1008, 'ORA-01008: not all variables bound') Does anybody knows what is wrong? Regards Ricardo

Copying properties
by Shai Berger 02 Aug '01

02 Aug '01

Hi Zopers, Just in case someone ever wants to copy a whole set of properties from one folder to another, here's what I just did. Put in the target folder this little python script: """ ## Script (Python) "copy_props" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace= ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters= ##title= ## source = context.path.to.source for prop in source.propertyMap(): # Every prop is a dict id = prop.get('id', '_no_id') type = prop.get('type','string') value = getattr(source, id, None) if type not in ('selection', 'multiple selection'): # Regular properties can just be set context.manage_addProperty(id, value, type) else: # Selections need first be added, then set select_variable = prop.get('select_variable','_no_select_variable') context.manage_addProperty(id, select_variable, type) context.manage_changeProperties({id:value}) REQUEST = context.REQUEST return context.manage_propertiesForm(context,REQUEST,manage_tabs_message="Properties copied") """ Now, testing the script will copy the properties and put you in the new and updated Properties tab of the target folder. Thought you might be interested, Shai.

Hello Richardo, I'm sorry; that's beyond my expertise. It may be possible in a ZSqlMethod; if not, you may end up having to learn python and write external methods. I had to write external methods in order to write long raws into the database. Regards, J. Cone. >From: ricardo(a)cnbe.mar.org.uk (Ricardo Seghizzi) >To: "J. Including HTML from another server's file into a dtml method or document
by Tommy Johnson 02 Aug '01

02 Aug '01

Hey all, Does anyone know how to include a file from another server into a dtml method or doc? The 'other' server can be the local file system, or (what I want) another server out there. I want to be able to grab the html from the file and display it in my dtml method. Something similiar to ColdFusion's <CFHTTP> tag. Maybe a simple syntax or a product could do this? Send me all ideas you have. I'd appreciate it. I tried searching the EGroups Zope archive, but to no avail. Thanks in advance, Tommy Innovation: The Best Way To Predict The Future ... Mail Host problem
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 02 Aug '01

02 Aug '01

I picked up the following code from runyaga via the ZopeLabs site: try: mailhost=getattr(context, context.SuperValues('Mail Host')[0].id) except: raise AttributeError, "Cannot find a Mail Host object." mMsg = 'A test e-mail message \n that contains a few line breaks. \n ~rlc' mTo = 'docket.clerk(a)bakerbotts.com' mFrom = 'docket.clerk(a)bakerbotts.com' mSubj = 'Mail Host Test' mailhost.send(mMsg, mTo, mFrom, mSubj) -------------- I put a Mail Host object in the same folder as the above python script. Tried it and got the exception. runyaga said to have the Mail Host object below the script, so I put it in a folder object lower in the hierarchy. Still got the exception. Then I put the Mail Host object in the root folder. Still got the exception. Clearly I am not the Hostess with the mostest. Does anyone know where I should place my Mail Host so that I don't throw the exception? Incidentally, I have the option to hardwire the mail host directly into the code (its not going anywhere). the id for the Mail Host in question is mailhost. TIA, Ron

External Methods to run ReportLab reports?
by Walter Miller 01 Aug '01

01 Aug '01

I've looked through the mailing lists on zope and reportlab-users and it seems that most people are calling reportlab to generate reports via external methods. Is this the prefered way to generate dynamic reports? And does anyone have some example code I can look at to get started? Ideally I would like to have the ablility to generate dynamic reports as well as cache the most often requested reports. Thanks, Walter
