Using Norton Internet Security with Zope

Hi, When you try to start Zope on a PC running Norton Internet Security, Windows crashes and the PC is rebooted automatically. Does anybody have a fix fort hat (other then un-installing Norton). Thanks - Henny

syntax of ExtImage

I have been unable to follow the syntax of ExtImage class When called in the same folder in which it exists <dtml-var mgscrdrbit.png> returns <ExtImage instance at 019D8AD0> but I am unable to get img html string result in the form: <img src="http://localhost:8080/04_es/mgscrdrbit.png" border="0" alt="descrip" height="99" width="100"> by using something like <img src=<dtml-var mgscrdrbit.png>> in addition, if called from lower down the tree, giving the absolute pathname <dtml-var /04_es/mgscrdrbit.png> or <dtml-var '/97_swi/bubardot.gif'> produces Error Type: KeyError Error Value: '/97_swi/bubardot.gif' and This resource may be trying to reference a nonexistent object or variable '/97_swi/bubardot.gif'. on the other hand <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues(['ExtImage'])"> produces all the information Grateful for any guidance as the help file covers alll the arguements, but no obvious (to me) dtml syntax.

Interesting discussion! Perhaps this is an area where the local Zope User Groups should take the initiative? (and then zope.org can just point to the LUGs' info?) One of the proposed functions of the fledgling UK Group is to post on our site a list of sites that are using Zope in the UK, and a list of companies/freelancers who offer services. Case-studies showing the "business case" rather than the "technical case" are another possibility. The resources and case studies provided by DC are a great start, but (particularly outside the US), you can't beat local examples! I like Oliver's idea of a downloadable skeleton-brochure too. Maybe the "marketing of Zope" should be approached in the same open-source fashion as the technical-development? I think more non-techies are joining the club, and this is one way they can feel like they have contributed something back to the community? A date type for ZSQLMethods?

Frequently, I need the following syntax in ZSQLMethods: <dtml-sqlvar LastModified type="date"> ^^^^ Where LastModified is a string suitable for conversion to a DateTime instance and #mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss# is returned. I am getting there by using: <dtml-var expr="_.DateTime(LastModified).strftime('#%m/%d/%y %H:%M:%S#')"> but it took forever to work that out (with loads of help from people on this list - thanks). Is this a sensible addition to the ZSQLMethod product, or is there a better way that I have missed? If so, would I patch the original (not my idea of fun:-) or subclass SQLVar? As a member of the Python illiterati - I've got the Programming Python book, but haven't fully grasped it yet - I wouldn't mind some clues on how to do this. Not urgent, of course. Regards Neil

Last week I asked on this list how to develop a folderish Python-based product, and how to use ZPT's in a product. To restrict the list of addable objects, in the folderish object I override all_meta_types inherited from ObjectManager. This method returns a tuple of dictionaries. Every dictionary contains the name of the object and the method the ZMI must invoke to create an instance. return ({'name':'Foo', 'action':'manage_addProduct/FolderishProductDemo/addFooForm'}, (Full source code on http://www.zope.org/Members/rpijlman/FolderishProduct/RestrictAvailableObjec ts) I've copied the idea from the Mailbag product. Macromedia Fireworks

Hello, I have created several buttons using macromedia fireworks, and have exported it correctly to zope. My problem is that, if I have the following setup: --Main_Folder --index_html --ButtonFolder --HomeButtonFolder (containing all the items for the home page button) home_dtml home.png home.gif hoem2.gif .... --SerachButtonFolder (ditto but for search button) etc etc Now in the Properties Tab from the Main_Folder I have assigned a simple values to the home_button object and search_button object, so that: Name Value Type title string home_button /HomeButtonFolder/home_dtml string search_button /SearchButtonFolder/search_dtml string everytime I try to call this object I only get the link displayed without the actual button showing. I call it from the Main_Folder, by creating a dtml method for example, navigation_bar: <dtml-var home_button> result /HomeButtonFolder/home_dtml How do I get to execute the home_dtml from the Main_Folder?
