Installing both 2.3.3 and 2.4b1 on one win2k machine?
by Jeff Kowalczyk 23 Jun '01

23 Jun '01

I would like to add an instance of Zope 2.4b1 to my development machine running Zope 2.3.3 under Windows 2000. The 2.3.3 installation directory is "C:\program files\Zope1", I'd like 2.4b1 to be "Zope2" Zope 2.3.3 is set to start as a service, so I presume the 2.4 Win32 auto-installer will cause a conflict or overwrite the 2.3.3 service if I chose it to be a service. I would prefer that the 2.4b1 ran on demand (non-service) for at least the beta releases; then when 2.4rc1 arrives, I'd revert to 2.3.3 as the on-demand copy for working with modules that haven't been upgraded to work with 2.4 yet. Again, this is very much a non-production machine, I'm just playing around with Zope at this point. What difficulties am I going to run into to get this set up?

Re: [Zope] How to add valuables into Property sheets from a form?
by J. Cameron Cooper 22 Jun '01

22 Jun '01

I'm replying to the list as well so that everybody can read and comment. I don't pretend to speak with any authority wrt Zope, and need peer review to keep from becoming a gigantic liar. I wish there were a builtin way to integrate builtin property sheets, both inherited and peer, because that would greatly simplify maintenance of ZClass management stuff. But there isn't, and here's the setup when you're making custom "property sheets": (I'm not claiming this is the best design, but here goes...) --You have a dtml method with the requisite HTML form for your properties in your product folder and in your ZClass. I don't think acquisition helps us here. --You have several property sheets, either inherited or defined, that you want in a unified interface. --You have a ZClass-made add method in your product folder (a constructor). --You have an edit method in your ZClass. In the add/edit form, the action for the Submit button should be the add or edit method, depending on where it is. The names of the form elements (HTML inputs) should be the names of the properties in your property sheets you want to add/change. When you submit this form, the method it is submitted to gets a REQUEST object with keys named for the form elements, each associated with the value in the element when the form was submitted. You can see these in the URL line when you submit with GET. So it comes to the add method, which creates a new object in the dtml-with, then works in its namespace. While in the new object's namespace you can: --set the properties of your property sheets. Call "propertysheets.PROPERTYSHEETNAME.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)" for each property sheet. You are handing the REQUEST that your form gave you to this method, which will then change all the attributes in its property sheet that match keys in the REQUEST to the values that those keys correspond to. Read the ZClass source to see exactly how. The edit method is little less kind, and DC folks have said that it's not meant for public consumption. --set it to be aware of a non-default Catalog: use dtml-call with manage_editCataloger to set it, and the call index to add it. (I think editCataloger should do this itself. Perhaps someone could tell me why I shouldn't patch it to index to a new catalog if the catalog actually changes.) This should be done after the properties are changed. Typically you then redirect to whatever page should come after clicking submit. The ZClass constructor does this for you. You will do the same thing in your edit method, except you will not make a new object, and you're already in the appropriate namespace. You can do this in a DTML method patterened after the ZClass constructor, but this is where PythonScripts are good. One might look something like: <pre> # Keep in mind I'm making this up off the top of my head. I'll verify it against my code later... context.propertysheets.PROPERTYSHEETNAME1.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST) context.propertysheets.PROPERTYSHEETNAME2.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST) return REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(location) </pre> Easy huh? So then you just go into the ZClass management interface and add your edit method to a tab, test it out, and you're done. Issues: --am I wrong? It seems to work for me. --is there a more maintainable design? Dunno, I'd have to experiment. --jcc (yay for objects!) [barring errors or severe criticism, I'll probably be making this a howto soon.] Oops Oops wrote: > Hello Cooper: > Thanks been so kind to respond my post. > > I still have few questions if you don't mind to answer > me? : ) > > "ropertysheets.PROPERTYSHEETNAME.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)" > I understand half part of it but got lost at (REQUEST) > Do I need to list all the valuables that I have in my > form in (here?) or I should list properties in there?? > I try both changeProperties and editProperties and > none of them work. ~_~ > > Also in my DTML form > <form method="POST" action=" "> > where I should call in the action? Payment Processors.
by Rick St Jean 22 Jun '01

22 Jun '01

I mentioned the other day that the company I work for makes a modular interface for payment processors. We are also integrating paypal, a few other sites that operate like it. I have python code that one of our developers wrote to integrate out solution into a python site. I am still fumbling my way though phython and ZOPE, but this can be code that will be useful to people wishing to have transactions through their sites. Would anyone be interested in helping me develop a zope module from the code. Basically I would like to see this available to all platforms. if you decide to change payment processors you simply drop in the new files get a new key and you are now up and running with a new processor. no coding or fiddling. I posted the python snippet if anyone is interested in starting ahead of me. Rick This is example code for implementing an oPAYc transaction using Python. (Python v1.5.2 on Linux-2.2-i386-glibc2.1). The code snippet should work on any version of Unix. The modules "DateTime" and "ODBC" must be installed. The ODBC.unixODBC module does not come within the ODBC package, and the existing ODBC.iODBC one must be modified to link to unixODBC's libraries. Also the include paths must be changed to those of unixODBC's include directory. Finally, "sql.h" and "sqlext.h" must be #included. #!/usr/bin/python import ODBC import ODBC.unixODBC import DateTime import random dsn = 'opayc-o19' user = 'opayc-user' passwd = 'opayc-password' account = '4111 1111 1111 1111' expiry = '0101' amount = '0.50' address1 = '612 Curry Avenue' postal = 'L2T2L7' country = 'Canada' city = 'St. Catharine' state = 'on' type = 'sale' trans = repr(random.randrange(9999)) firstname = 'Marsh' lastname = 'Melon' clientip = '205.210.228.203' email = 'nobody(a)cybersource.com' currency = 'usd' phone = '555-555-5555' query = "SELECT * FROM transactions WHERE account = '%s' AND expiry = '%s' AND amount = '%s' AND add1 = '%s' AND postal = '%s' AND country = '%s' AND city = '%s' AND state = '%s' AND type = '%s' AND trans = '%s' AND fname = '%s' AND lname = '%s' AND clientIP = '%s' AND email = '%s' AND Currency = '%s' AND phone = '%s'" % (account, amount, address1, postal, country, city, state, type, trans, firstname, lastname, clientip, email, currency, phone) db = ODBC.unixODBC.Connect(dsn, user, passwd) cur = db.cursor() cur.execute(query) result = cur.fetchall() if result: for data in result: print f cur.close() db.close() ########################################################## # Rick St Jean, # rstjean(a)internet.look.ca # President of Design Shark, # http://www.designshark.com/, http://www.phpmailer.com/ # Quick Contact: http://www.designshark.com/messaging.ihtml # Tel: 905-684-2952 ##########################################################

ZPT - equivalent of dtml-unless
by Phil Harris 22 Jun '01

22 Jun '01

Hi all, I have a ZPT page which can optionally get a parameter, dn, which gets used in a call to a Script (Python). If I was doing this with DTML, I would use something like, <dtml-unless dn> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('dn','o=cm')"> </dtml-unless> to set a default value for dn. However I can't quite figure out how to set default values for vars in a ZPT page. The best I've come up with so far is this: <span metal:fill-slot="userList_slot" tal:content="structure python:here.userList(dn=request.dn)" tal:on-error="structure python:here.userList(dn=None)">User List goes here</span> Which is fine if there is only one var but what if there are more? Any ideas? Phil phil.harris(a)zope.co.uk

From database to acl_users
by Gilles Lenfant 22 Jun '01

22 Jun '01

Hi, I know how to get users/passwords/roles in straight Python/mxOdbc from a corporate database. I want to give Zope permissons to those users in addition to those from the "acl_users" folder. Means that when a user logs for basic authentication, it's credentials must be compared with "natural" acl_user folder then with this database. Any idea or related product ? TIA. --Gilles

in/let not working as expected
by alan runyan 22 Jun '01

22 Jun '01

on Zope 2.3.3 binary on windows -- <dtml-in objectValues skip_unauthorized> <dtml-let obj=sequence-item> <dtml-var getId> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> try this in your / and it will error on the standard_error_message (thats what teh Error Type business is about). Q: if I do this with DTML Method it screws up. It appears that DTML Methods (when in objectValues) will call themselves on <dtml-let obj=sequence-item>, which is unexpected? I would expect that obj would *only* get a refernce to sequence-item is this the only gotcha using in/let together? am i diagnosing this correctly? thanks, ~runyaga

Re: [Zope] How to add valuables into Property sheets from a form?
by cooper, cameron 22 Jun '01

>>> I can't get those valuables to store into property sheets. Seems those valuables never been read by Zclass (or I should say constructor???) <<< What you need to do is call "propertysheets.PROPERTYSHEETNAME.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)" for every property sheet you want to update. (Note that it is not edit but change that you should use.) You would have five of these, one for each property sheet. All attibutes in the property sheet matching a key from the REQUEST will be updated with the value from the REQUEST associated with the key. I do this in a PythonScript, but it should work with dtml-call as well. Also, unless you're changing the default catalog of a (presumably) CatalogAware object, with manage_editCataloger, I don't think you need to reindex. And if you do, it should go after you change the properties. And it should probably be a plain index, since it never was in that catalog in the first place. At least that's what work for me. --jcc (yay objects!)
