Help: Return and render an object (DTML doc or method) from python script.
by Gilles Lenfant 30 May '01

30 May '01

Hi, My project uses inclusion of objects (DTML doc or methods) which relative path is computed by a python script. <calling script> ... <dtml-var "myscript(argument)"> ... </calling script> The python script "myscript" computes the relative path of the DTML object to include (no problem till there) The problem is : how to have this target DTML document/method rendered in place of the <dtml-var "myscript(argument)"> ? In python, the (supposed) classical "return contex.getitem(path)" raises an AttributeError (no "getitem" attribute) Any hint for this ? TIA --Gilles

Python 2.1 on Solaris 2.6 with gcc 2.8.1 ?
by Kai Hofmann 30 May '01

30 May '01

Has someone experience with making Python 2.1 on SOlaris 2.6 with gcc 2.8.1? Here it seems that it tries to create shared libraries which won't link, because its missing some standard references (liba, ...) like free, malloc etc. Has someone fixed this - before I invest hours to do so? Authorisation error handling
by Petr Knapek 30 May '01

30 May '01

Hi Zopists, I would like to ask you to give me some links on documentation connected with authorisation error handling in Zope. From John Chandler HOW-TO I know it is not possible to use standard_error_messagge DTML Method. This error is handled in other way. My problem is, I want to redirect user, who tries to authorize, to another page where anonymous access is possible and inform him about possible problems. There should be also possibility to try authenticate with new authorization. I would probably try to find the errant spot using PDB, e.g., I would drop the following line into the 'main()' function: import pdb; pdb.set_trace() Then, when you run the start script using '-D', the debugger will stop at that point, and you can single step, print variables, etc., using the "standard Python debugger", http://www.python.org/doc/1.5.2p2/lib/module-pdb.html If that doesn't help, or if you've found a bug, then I would ask for further help on the zodb-dev(a)zope.org list. The syntax is similar > to a link in stx: > > "Image alt tag contents":img:/path/to/image Here is how we added "embedded images" in the CMF (just recently): - Created a utility function, '_format_stx', with two supporting classes, 'CMFDocumentWithImages' and 'CMFHtmlWithImages':: # # StructuredText handling. # import StructuredText from StructuredText.HTMLWithImages import HTMLWithImages _STXDWI = StructuredText.DocumentWithImages.__class__ class CMFDocumentClass( StructuredText.DocumentWithImages.__class__ ): """ Override DWI to get '_' into links. """ def document(self, doc, level, output): """\ HTMLWithImages.document renders full HTML (head, title, body). For CMF Purposes, we don't want that. We just want those nice juicy body parts perfectly rendered. """ for c in doc.getChildNodes(): getattr(self, self.element_types[c.getNodeName()])(c, level, output) CMFHtmlWithImages = CMFHtmlWithImages() def _format_stx( text, level=1 ): """ Render STX to HTML. """ st = StructuredText.Basic( text ) # Creates the basic DOM if not st: # If it's an empty object return "" # return now or have errors! doc = CMFDocumentClass( st ) html = CMFHtmlWithImages( doc, level ) return html - Changed our Docuement class (as well as other STX clients) to call '_format_stx' whenever the content changes, capturing the result as the 'cooked' version. - We render the Document without using the 'fmt="strucutred-text"' bit, e.g.: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var getCookedHTML> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> The code for '_format_stx' whould package OK as an ExternalMethod, I think. Structured Text with Images in regular Zope?
by Mike Renfro 30 May '01

30 May '01

I'm getting tired of writing HTML for all my lab documentation, but I need screenshots, too. What do I need to do to get structured text working with inline images? I know I can just stick <img> tags in the file, but I'd rather not.
