Uh. Bummer. I use DTML to dynamically generate my list of database links. I add a dtml method for each link and away we go. http://www.zope.org/Members/tfarrell/database/view_source I suppose I could do it by hand, but I thought that was one of the niceties of zope. Could we move over to ZPT (which I haven't yet looked at)? SecurityGetUser and Python scripts

The DTML reference for the zope book has this tidbit: SecurityGetUser() Return the current user object. This is normally the same as the REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER object. However, the AUTHENTICATED_USER object is insecure since it can be replaced. Hi Fancois, if you open the object directly from web you arent using DAV. You are using your browsers standard HTTP GET which results in a read-only file (actually a copy of the object in your temp filesystem). If you want to edit, you have to use DAV explicitely either via "open as webfolder" (this can be attached to the explorer) or use to open fuction from Word. Erm.. if you dont get your users (and even administrators!) to be able to do such simple steps, they should probably keeped away from any computer ;)) HTH Tino --On Montag, 30. multiple zope instances on one ip address

I am trying to set up more than one zope instance and failing... I have configured two seperate installations (different versions, in fact) of zope, and lets say I try to run one on 192.168.0.1:2000 and the other on 192.168.0.1:8000. If the port 2000 one starts first, it will also answer requests for port 8000. If I then kill the port 2000 one, the port 8000 one will then be able to answer requests. I want both to run without interfering with each other. BTW, I start them with: firstinstance/z2.py -X -w192.168.0.1:2000 -u nobody secondinstance/z2.py -X -w192.168.0.1:8000 -u nobody If this just the way things are, or am I missing something? thanks!

Hi Chris, check freshmeat.NET for a Linux kernel module named "FTP File System". It's a module for mounting FTP volumes. In combination with SAMABA it might be possible to map ZOPE to a windows drive letter without any client software. Any report is welcome. When I try I get the file as read-only. And if I try to "save as" which is what pops up, it will add the .html or .htm to the file. Is there something you had to do to turn that off? Q: onLoad + onUnload...?

My prob: I want to make a variable in DTML which counts the user online.... I actually did do it, but in a crappy way: <body onLoad="addUser();" onUnload="subUser();"> and I had made to functions in javscript: function addUser() { self.open('addU', 'counting users'); } function subUser() { self.open('subU', 'counting users'); } and to DTML-methods ===== addU ===== <html><head> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set ('uc, uc+1)"> <script language="javascript"> </script> </head><body></body></html> ===== subU: ===== <html><head> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set ('uc, uc-1)"> <script language="javascript"> </script> </head><body></body></html> ===== and I added a porperty (integer) called uc... It worked fine, but it was very irritating for the users that a new window woukd open and then close every time the went from one place to another....
