The Doctor What writes: > <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.redirect('index_html?message=Link+added&url_id='+url_id)"> > > Zope complains about a builtin... Apparently "url_id" is not a string but something else. You may try "_.str(_.render(url_id))" instead of "url_id". "_.render" would call the object, if it were callable. "_.str" would turn it into a string. Of course, one of these operations may not be necessary. Dieter

'.' is there an operator, the attribute lookup operator. In the failing case, the '.' is not an operator but behaves identical to the letters. "_[...]" performs a name lookup for "...". You look for an object with literal name "Portal.Publications.Review". There is not such object, only one with name "Portal" which has an attribute with name "Publications" .... "restrictedTraverse" is your friend: Try: <dtml-with "restrictedTraverse(_.string.split(location,'.'))"> .... Dieter

This part of ZPublisher.HTTPRequest has not yet been adapted to the Zope 2.2 security policy. Something for the Collector.... It is very easy to fix. "FileUpload" objects must get an "__allow_access_to_unprotected_subobjects__=1". Dieter

Uploading Documents Bug
by Tom Scheidt 20 Apr '01

F.Y.I. In Zope 2.3.1, by hitting the "Upload" button in a dtml document edit page without browsing for a document first, you clear the dtml document. This can easily be fixed by hitting the back button and hitting "Save Changes", but there should probably be some sort of error message. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tom Scheidt tom(a)falsemirror.com www.falsemirror.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The documentation (Zope help -> API-Reference -> ObjectManager) speaks of a standard way to instantiate anything: <container>.manage_addProduct[<product_name>].<constructor>(....) Have you tried it? CatalogAware does not work?
by Milos Prudek 20 Apr '01

20 Apr '01

I followed Automatic Cataloging example in Zope Book, Chapter 9. Everything works fine except automatic cataloging of newly created fields ("author", "content"). When I change data in those fields it is not reflected in the catalog. When I add a new instance, it is not included in the catalog. This can be verified by clicking on the Catalog tab, and choosing the newly added instance (the page that says "the goal of this page is to provide basic debugging information about what is in the Catalog on a specific object."). Also, calling <dtml-in>Catalog</dtml-in> does not display new/modified data. The situation can be rectified by manually clicking Advanced/Update Catalog (for modified fields) or by Find Objects (for new instances). In other words, the catalog can only be updated manually. Strangely, the "date" field does not suffer this problem. I run Zope 2.3.1 source release. I use the latest Zope Book, dated March 13, 2001 Is the Zope Book text about Automatic Cataloging valid? What mistake I make? -- Milos Prudek

Hi all ! I have a zope site working with apache, and all works fine !! Still, making the exact same requests, the time to respond is mostly different ! sometimes a request is given like a bullet, but on the other side, it takes a lot of time ! (there are only two clients connected to the server) Is there any way of monitorize zope requests ? Has anyone had this kind of situation ? Best regards to you all Nuno

problem testing for a permission
by Jerome Alet 20 Apr '01

20 Apr '01

Hi, I've created a method whose View permission is not allowed to Anonymous users but allowed to the "Member" role. I want to put a link to this method at the bottom of each page, say in standard_html_footer, but only if the user is allowed to view it. I've done the following in standard_html_footer: <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_permission('View', mymethod)"> ... Some tests and text ... <A HREF="<dtml-var URL>/mymethod">Members only</A> ... Some tests and text ... </dtml-if> but if I access the pages as an anonymous user then I've got an Unauthorized exception instead of not having the "Members only" link. What do I have done wrong ? Thanks in advance. Jerome Alet

Orphan Object IDs
by Chris Shenefiel 20 Apr '01

20 Apr '01

I have an object (from the Radio Free Pete package) that appears to be an orphan. I have deleted the product, cleaned the database, cleaned the cache but a reference to RFP still exists. I know this because when I try to import the RFP.exp, I get an error stating that that object ID still exists and cannot be re-installed. Is there a way to get rid of this without reinstalling Zope? Thanks, Chris
