Passing a list through a url
by belen＠netcom.no 20 Apr '01

I need to pass a list through a url. Is there anyway to do it? I receive a list from a DTML document and I need to pass it again to a method. I have verified that the intermediate document receives a list but when the last method retrieves it the type is string. I can cast it to be a list by : <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('Destination?myList:list'+`myList`)"> but <dtml-var mylist> renders ["[x]"] where I have a list containing a string. Any ideas? Thanks Belen

Re: [Zope] Umlauts and Structured Text

Stefan Radke writes: > How would umlauts have to be entered to be interpreted correctly by the > structured text processor in Zope, e.g for a hyperlink ? > "F=FCssen":F=FCssen, or even "Füssen":Füssen don't work. I fear, "structured text" is currently essentially an english only tool. It is unaware that there are letters outside the US-ASCII range. It would need an overhaul: use Python's "re" module and locale aware patterns. Would not be too difficult. Probably volunteers wanted. But maybe, the "StructuredText-NG" already solves these problems.... Dieter

<dtml-let> syntax
by Sebal 20 Apr '01

20 Apr '01

I want to test in a sequence if sequence-index is multiple of 4 I think I can with fmod(sequence-index,4)=0 but I don't find the right syntax: I tried directly in the <dtml-if> tag and with a <dtml-let> tag like : (I tried with or without " [ _[ ' .... nothing works) <dtml-in SQLmotcle_query> <TD CELLPADDING="0" CELLSPACING="0" VALIGN=MIDDLE ALIGN=LEFT> <dtml-let x=fmod(sequence-index,4))> <dtml-if x> poipoi <dtml-else> pokpok </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in></TD></TR> What is the right syntax, or is there another way to test this. thanx. Zope on Python 2.1

Hello! I did a quick test on how Zope would run on Python 2.1. I didn't do extensive tests, but at first glance it works without a problem. can't connect to zope on freebsd/apache
by Kurt Yoder 20 Apr '01

Hello I'm trying to get Zope working on FreeBSD. I'm already using Apache on it for another web-based app (Request Tracker), so I have to leave it in place. I installed Zope using the FreeBSD port (version 2.2.2, I believe), and everything compiled, etc. I found the Zope startup script and started it; this also looks good, as I can see two Zope processes running. However, I can't connect to the Zope server on port 8080. I can still connect to the Apache site though. How do I get this last step working? Thanks! -Kurt

Permissions and Zope 2.3.x #2
by Ivan Raikov 20 Apr '01

20 Apr '01

Hello, I have another question about permissions in Zope: I am dynamically creating permissions (with AccessControl.Permission.registerPermissions) that are not associated with any methods, but as soon as I restart Zope, those permissions are gone. How can I make them persistent? Thanks, Ivan Raikov

Permissions and Zope 2.3.x
by Ivan Raikov 20 Apr '01

Hello, Is there any programmatic way to have a UserFolder-like object assign the 'View Management Screens' permission to a role different than Manager? Here's the code that I'm using in vain attempts to achieve that: class Practice (AccessControl.User.UserFolder, Acquisition.Implicit, Persistence.Persistent, AccessControl.Role.RoleManager, OFS.SimpleItem.Item): . . . manage_options=( ( {'label':'Contents', 'action':'manage_main',}, {'label':'Security', 'action':'manage_access',}, )) isPrincipiaFolderish = 1 isAUserFolder = 1 . . __ac_roles__ = ('Staff', 'Owner', 'Physician') . . manage_main = Globals.DTMLFile('dtml/mainUser', globals()) security = ClassSecurityInfo () # Specify how individual operations add up to "permissions": security.declareObjectProtected('Access practice') security.declareProtected ('View management screens', 'manage_main') security.declareProtected ('View management screens', 'manage_tabs') security.declareProtected ('View', 'index_html') security.setPermissionDefault ('View', ('Physician', 'Owner')) security.setPermissionDefault ('View management screens', ('Owner',)) Unfortunately, the user that has a local role of Owner cannot view the management screens, because the validate method is passed only the Manager role as a list of possible roles that have access to these methods. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ivan Raikov

by Stefan Mallepell 20 Apr '01

Hi I would like to delete HTML tags which may have been entred in to a form, before I store the value into a ZClass Instance .. My Idea was just to replace the '<' '>' characters with something less dangerous .. My code is: <dtml-let transtab="_.string.maketrans('><','**')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Message',_.string.translate(Message,transtab,'><'))"> </dtml-let> The problem is now, that it deletes the >< but it don't replace them with the * ... what is it, what am I doing wrong? Thanks for help Regards Stefan Mallepell

Re: [Zope] [newbie] Property with <dtml-var> in it's value
by Stefan Mallepell 20 Apr '01

20 Apr '01

Hi Dieter Thank you for your answer. I think I haven't explained my problem so clear - sorry. Let's say "A" is the object-instance with a property "l" which contains 'http://www.externalserver.org' and the id 'externalserver' "B" is another object-instance with a property "c" which contains 'This is text with some links. The links to the *externalserver* can be in the middle of the text.' In my index_html I show "c" an would like to generate a proper "a href" around *externalserver* ... And it looks like the problem is that properties don't get rendered after they have been inserted with dtml-var ... Is it the problem, that I don't see the forrest cause of to many trees - or is it really a problem? __basicnew__ errors
by seb bacon 20 Apr '01

20 Apr '01

Whenever I try to import an object from one Zope (2.3.0) to another (2.3.1) I get a Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: __basicnew__ and the top of the stack is one of those indecipherable pickled things, which I have no idea how to read or how they might be useful, i.e. -- File /usr/local/Zope/lib/python/ZODB/Connection.py, line 166, in __getitem__ (Info: ('\000\000\000\000\000\0001\030', '((U\036Pro <lots of junk snipped> 0tr\211\001\000\000Qu.')) AttributeError: (see above) I also get this error when I try to fire up the 2.3.1 with a copy of the Data.fs from 2.3.0. Why might this be? Can anyone shed any light onto what __basicnew__ does? And has anyone any pointers to understanding these pickled traceback things? Whenever they occur, I find it's usually due to inconsistencies between the pickled product-related info and the products loaded from the filesystem, but I don't know how to go about debugging it. Cheers, seb
