Z SQL method - how to get hold of the returning results
by Gitte Wange 06 Apr '01

06 Apr '01

Heloo, I have a small problem - I don't how to get hold of the results from a Z SQL method. I have a method that returns a number to be inserted in my database. The code looks like this: SELECT 1+max(ordernum) AS next_num FROM playlistclips WHERE playlistid=<dtml-var showid> I have tested the code and it works. Now I need to insert the next_num in another method and I tried the following: <dtml-call expr="sqlAddClipToList(slcShowClips=slcShowClips,showid=showid,ordernumber=next_num)"> but I get an NameError: Error Value: next_num I thought that the first method returned a variable named next_num. -- ************************ Gitte Wange Jensen System Squid Developer MMManager Aps +45 29 72 79 72 gitte(a)mmmanager.org ************************

Hi again... Please try to cc the list when replying... that way I won't feel so bad if I can't help solve the problem. ;-) Do you see this message in the event log? When do you see the message? In a typical Microsoft fashion, it may be worthwhile to uninstall and reinstall... ;-) this time, don't specify that you want the thing to be started as a service during the install... - C ----- Original Message ----- From: <gmadhavi(a)hss.hns.com> To: "Chris McDonough" <chrism(a)digicool.com> Sent: Friday, April 06, 2001 2:55 AM Subject: Re: [Zope] Zope on Win NT > > > fine.. > > i restart my pc and start all over again.. > > the error is "Z2 startup exception". > > do i need to uninstall and try.. > > - madhavi!! > > > > > "Chris McDonough" <chrism(a)digicool.com> on 04/06/2001 01:10:14 PM > > To: Madhavi Gauripeddi/HSSBLR, zope(a)zope.org > cc: > > Subject: Re: [Zope] Zope on Win NT > > > > > Hi... > > Usually (always?) this error occurs when Zope is started more than one > time. > > It's very possible that Zope has been started as a service, and by trying > to > start it via the start.bat command, you're attempting to run it again... > > I'd try getting to the management interface if you know the port number > it's > running on without using the start.bat command. > > HTH, > > - C > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <gmadhavi(a)hss.hns.com> > To: <zope(a)zope.org> > Sent: Friday, April 06, 2001 2:03 AM > Subject: [Zope] Zope on Win NT > > > > > > > > hi all zopists, > > > > i have seen how zope works on linux when one of my friend happened to > > install.. and it didn't take me any time to get a comfy feeling with it. > > > > now i am trying on win nt platform.. and face some problems.. > > > > the initial installation or the start.bat doesn't get executed properly > > stating errors like "could not lock the database file. there must be > > another process that has opened the file." when there's no process which > is > > using it. > > > > looking forward for some urgent assistance on the same. > > > > thanks and regards, > > madhavi. > > > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > > Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org > > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > > (Related lists - > > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > (Related lists - > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) > > > > >

Apache SubFolder to Zope root folder using VirtualHostMonster
by Lars Holmstrom 06 Apr '01

06 Apr '01

I am having trouble getting VirtualHostMonsters to work for my configuration (or at least to my liking). What I want to do is have a a URL with a specific subfolder that is sent to my Apache server passed to the root directory of my ZServer using ProxyPass. For example, I want to have my Apache server proxy www.foo.com/zope requests to the root folder of my Zope installation. The httpd.conf line in question is: ProxyPass /zope http://www.foo.com:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.foo.com:80/Vi rtualHostRoot/ This successfully lands me in the Zope root directory, but URLs generated by Zope are missing the /zope/ part of the path. The Virtual Host Monster documentation has an example for what I am trying to do that looks like this: ProxyPass /zope http://www.foo.com:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.foo.com:80/Vi rtualHostRoot/_vh_zope When I hit the URL www.foo.com/zope, however, I get an error indicating that the object _vh_zope could not be found. So it is not appending /zope/ to my host base URL like I thought it would. Am I trying to use this feature correctly? Does this feature exists? Searching these archives I found mention of someone trying to do this a couple months ago, and the response was that VirualHostPaths would be added in the future, so I thought that this might be that feature. I was using SiteRoots to accomplish this before, but some products, like ZWiki, didn't honor them, and I was starting to special case too many products in my ProxyPass configuration. I want a way to simply rewrite every incomming URL into the ZServer with a base of http://www.foo.com/zope. Any help would be appreciated! -Lars Holmstrom

Problem with PythonScript and embedded HTML
by Mayers, Philip J 06 Apr '01

06 Apr '01

Try this in a PythonScript: print """<TEXTAREA NAME="whatever">%s</TEXTAREA><H2>This text will appear outside the edit box</H2>""" Hit the save-changes and watch the sparks fly. I guess the contents of the *real* edit textarea should be HTML-quoted? zope anywhere near aol server?
by Jason Byron 06 Apr '01

06 Apr '01

Scenario: Let's say you've got an application that uses aol server and the razor extensions to it. Most of the code is done with TCL, some C. The app is fairly dynamic and is setup in a clustered environment behind a cisco content switch. Is there anyway to improve on, or match, the performance of a system like this but substituting Zope for aol server? Has anyone done any performance comparisons of Zope to aol server? Does Zope even come close? Would Zeo have a better chance? Do you think putting squid (or apache, or aol) in front of Zope would bring it closer to this setup, or would this be more of a hassle than it's worth in a clustered environment? What about mod_backhand? Could this be used in anyway to help improve zope's performance? Has anyone thought of dropping medusa and trying to integrate zope into a web server like aol/apache? Whew, Is this a lot of questions or what? I'd love to have some real world comparisons, but any thought on the subject would be great. thanks :) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Apache virtual host combined with Zope
by Ria Marinussen 06 Apr '01

06 Apr '01

I've found several How-To's and other documents on the use of Zope with Apache virtual hosts, but can't figure out what the state of the art at this moment is. We've got an apache webserver with several virtual host entries (version 1.3.9). I want to start using Zope for (part of) one of the virtual hosts. I'v downloaded version 2.3.1. of Zope. My question consist of these three parts: 1) Should I use Zope.cgi, PCGI, the virtual-host-monster or any other sollution? 2) Do I need additional software? 3) And where can I find documentation about this/these sollution(s). (Of course I want the best performance possible, with all the pro's of apache AND zope combined.) Thanks in advance, Ria Marinussen Webmaster University of Twente, Department of Computer Science
