RPM, python scripts, threads
by Philippe 24 Feb '01

24 Feb '01

I've got zope 2.3.0 running with python 1.5.2 on RedHat 6.2. I'm afraid the threads for python have not been compiled in. Is there an RPM that does it? (My system administrator will not let me install anything without an RPM. How difficult is it to write an RPM?) thanks a lot, -Philippe (Below, I'm including the page source of an error message trying the Guest_Book example of the Zope Book, which btw is an excellent book :-) <!-- Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 222, in publish_module File /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /usr/share/zope/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Traversable) File /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: addEntryAction) File /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: addEntryAction) File /usr/share/zope/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 189, in __call__ (Object: addEntryAction) File /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 538, in __call__ (Object: addEntryAction) File /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/DocumentTemplate/DT_Util.py, line 334, in eval (Object: addEntry(guest_name, comments)) (Info: guest_name) File <string>, line 0, in ? Xron question--why won't method work
by Chris Muldrow 24 Feb '01

24 Feb '01

Here's a clarified version of a question i asked earlier that is still stumping me. Why will this method work as a regular DTML Method but not as a Xron method: <dtml-in expr="objectValues('DTML Document')"> <dtml-let newname="'o13'"> <dtml-let nameadd=id> <dtml-let newname="nameadd+newname"> <dtml-let newtitle="'Chris'"> <dtml-let story=document_src> <dtml-let credate="ZopeTime()"> <dtml-with "PARENTS[0]"> <dtml-call expr="addFLSNews(newname, story, credate)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> And here's the external method that it's calling: def addFLSNews(self, newid, data, REQUEST=None): """ """ # Get the actual destination object, using the this() # method, to be sure we get it in the right context.. self=self.this() # Create the new instance newob=self.Control_Panel.Products.FLSNewsStory.FLSNewsStory(data) newob._setId(newid) self._setObject(newid, newob) newob.title=getTitle(data) varStoryName=getStoryName(data) varUser=getUser(data) varPicID=getPicID(data) varCategory=getCategory(data) varLocality=getLocality(data) varBasket=getBasket(data) varNwords=getNwords(data) varEditionInfo=getEditionInfo(data) varSummary=getSummary(data) self._setProperty('User', varUser, type='string') self._setProperty('StoryName', varStoryName, type='string') self._setProperty('PicID', varPicID, type='string') self._setProperty('Category', varCategory, type='string') self._setProperty('Locality', varLocality, type='string') self._setProperty('Basket', varBasket, type='string') self._setProperty('Nwords', varNwords, type='string') self._setProperty('EditionInfo', varEditionInfo, type='string') self._setProperty('Summary', varSummary, type='string') It's hitting a problem at the self.setObject line. This method works when I run it as a regular DTML Document, but it hits an "Attribute Error on self.setObject when I run it as an Xron. I'm using the trigger tab, but I've also tried letting it run as scheduled--neither works.

LocalFS
by Paul Zwarts 24 Feb '01

24 Feb '01

Hi, How do I store a file in LocalFS? Of about 8 emails I've posted for various questions in the last 4 months, 1 was answered. The rest ignored. Seemingly you get a response if you pretend to be stupid and ask for the whole answer without denoting that you actually have done some research or supply contraindications to your problem.... Cheers and excuse today's hangover moodiness, Paz

ZCatalog OR search problems
by Oliver Frommel 24 Feb '01

24 Feb '01

Hi, I've implemented an OR search for ZCatalog following the HowTos and mailing list postings. However I am still trying to solve the problem that a search result shows up twice when it matches two subsearch criteria. I tried a Python Method "uniq" to make the results of the search unique, but get an error "Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: __hash__". dtml: <dtml-let resa="Catalog(text_obj=begriff)" resb="Catalog(abstract_obj=begriff)" resc="Catalog(title=begriff)" res="resa[:_.len(resa)] + resb[:_.len(resb)] + resc[:_.len(resc)]"> <dtml-in "uniq(items=res)" size=50 start=query_start> ... python method (parameter "items"): d = {} for item in items: d.update( { item: 1 } ) return d.keys() stack trace: ... File /opt2/cvs/Zope2/lib/python/Products/PythonScripts/PythonScript.py, line 337, in _exec (Object: uniq) (Info: ({'script': <PythonScript instance at 8c73b88>, 'context': <Folder instance at 8c95b88>, 'container': <Folder instance at 8968e08>, 'traverse_subpath': []}, (), {'items': [<mybrains instance at 8b215d0>, <mybrains instance at 8c2e778>, ..... File Script (Python), line 5, in uniq .. why can't I iterate over the "items" search results as a normal list? Is there any way to make this work? thanks for your help --Oliver

eCommerce with Zope
by Ragnar Beer 24 Feb '01

24 Feb '01

Howdy! I wonder how on-the fly verification of e.g. credit cards or whatever else verification that could take some time can be done using Zope if Zope doesn't support multipart content. As a user I'd expect to get an immediate feedback like "verifying your credit card ... (please wait)" or "checking whether this domain name is available ..." and then after a while see the results without any further action. This is would be a typical job for multipart content-type, wouldn't it? Is there a workaround or so to get this done with Zope? Ragnar

side sorting
by Spinwing 24 Feb '01

24 Feb '01

Hello Oliver it worked perfectly for me but consider the following: - I have set an atribute different from the "sort" name, just to be sure to avoid conflicts, so I named it "sort_order" - my dtml statement looked like: <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')" sort=sort_oder> this way it works. Hope to be of help Rgds Stefano Message: 44 Date: Fri, 23 Feb 2001 17:22:27 +0100 From: Oliver Vecernik <vecernik(a)aon.at> Organization: VECERNIK Datenerfassungssysteme To: "zope(a)zope.org" <zope(a)zope.org> Subject: [Zope] side sorting Hi, I have following DTML method for a sidebar construction: <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')" sort="_.[sort]"> <li><a class="sidemenu" href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a><br></li> </dtml-in> </ul> I set a property named 'sort' to every folder, but my code doesn't work.
