2 more questions :-|

Hi! I have 2 more questions on DTML (sorry, but the reference isn't really comprehensive) (1) i want to list the contents of a folder and do more complex sorting than just sort=id: <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues(['DTML Document','Folder'])" sort="id, meta_type" > BUT: i want to sort meta_type in reverse order (to have the folders on top), and the id in "normal" order. is that possible? how? (2) i have a dtml-tree, but i don't want to list the contents of the current folder but of PARENTS[1]. but obviously i can't do anything like branches_expr="PARENTS[1].objectValues(['Folder', 'DTML Document'])"> how is this done? thanks in advance! regards, Klaus -- Klaus Herrmann <klaus.herrmann(a)goelz.com> Goelz & Schwarz GmbH, Munich www.goelz.com phone:+49 - (0)89 - 544 67 0 22 fax: +49 - (0)89 - 544 67 0 10

> Unfortunately this is not possible, because we mustn't use JavaScript > nor Java for the usual reasons. Pure HTML only. Are you saying that you shouldn't use Java / JavaScript with Zope at all? Forgive my ignorance; but why? The management screens might use a little JavaScript but I don't *think* this would cause any conflicts/probs. Cheers, Lee

RE: [Zope] ZCatalog and searching the external data
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 23 Feb '01

I suppose that you would set up a "proxy" object (just use a ZClass) instance somewhere in the ODB that has a method that represented external data scraped from the web via an external method and http client libraries in python. I assume this woulr work? Sean -----Original Message----- From: Dirksen [mailto:dirksen_lau@yahoo.com] Sent: Thursday, February 22, 2001 6:38 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] ZCatalog and searching the external data Hi, The beginning of Chapter 9 of Zope Book says 'You can also use it to search external data such as ... remote web pages.' But the chapter doesn't mention anymore on how to do that. Any clues are appreciated! Cheers Dirksen __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! sendmail policy enforcement
by Kyler B. Laird 23 Feb '01

23 Feb '01

I do not allow my users to create Mail Hosts, but I have a Mail Host object available in the root for everyone to use. Right now, I even allow Anonymous to use it (so that users don't need to turn on proxy roles anytime they want to send mail.) I wonder if this is a risk, though. Can non-users (authors) get to my system (via XML-RPC?) and send mail this way? I'm also concerned about setting sender information for the outgoing mail. I'd like to always use the ID of the owner of the calling method as the sender. Is this something I can do already with a standard Mail Host? Should/Could I do this by modifying Mail Host or is it likely that this functionality might be standard soon. Is there another way that I should consider? Thank you. --kyler

dtml problem
by Klaus Herrmann 23 Feb '01

23 Feb '01

Hi! I have a problem with dtml and the docs won't help me out: i want to call e.g. manage_edit on a dtml document. the document's id is stored in the variable doc_id (e.g.). how do i call the function? <dtml-call "_['doc_id'].manage_edit(_['doc_src'], _['doc_title'])"> doesn't work, as zope treats _['doc_id'] as a string and complains that it can't call manage_edit on a string. what's the correct code? thanks in advance! regards, Klaus -- Klaus Herrmann <klaus.herrmann(a)goelz.com> Goelz & Schwarz GmbH, Munich www.goelz.com phone:+49 - (0)89 - 544 67 0 22 fax: +49 - (0)89 - 544 67 0 10

by Oliver Vecernik 23 Feb '01

Hi, I have following DTML method for a sidebar construction: <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')" sort="_.[sort]"> <li><a class="sidemenu" href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a><br></li> </dtml-in> </ul> I set a property named 'sort' to every folder, but my code doesn't work. How can I achieve arbitrary sorting for the menu? Oliver

WG: [Zope] call by reference

-----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: Arenz, Ralph Gesendet: Freitag, 23. Februar 2001 16:24 An: 'Daniel Rusch' Betreff: AW: [Zope] call by reference They are non object related methods and in the same file. I think i found a way to solve the problem. Do I have to work with the 'global' statement , like this ? e.g: modul_foo: def foo2(): x,y=2,3 foo(x,y) def foo(foo1,foo2): global x,y x=foo1+1 y=foo2+1 Result in foo2: x=3 , y=4 ? ralph -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: Daniel Rusch [mailto:drusch@globalcrossing.com] Gesendet: Freitag, 23.
