Usually, the hierarchy is simply there, the tree tag just displays part of it. The table representing the tree is regenerated for each request from scratch. Thus, the "branches" method (or "branches_expr") is recalled for all visible tree nodes and not only for the expanded node. Dieter

curve ball with <form>
by Gary Lowder 12 Feb '01

I've got a small form imbedded within a much larger DTML Method. While coding along I stuck it in there. Test views of the page work great. As soon as I created the DTML Method that the FORM will POST to, I get this error (now this is only on viewing the Calling Page): Error Type: TypeError Error Value: argument 1: expected read-only character buffer, ImplicitAcquirerWrapper found My form is this: <form action="del_item" method="POST"> Input reason for deletion:<input type="text" name="reason:text" size="40"> <input name="delbutton" type="submit" value="Delete Item"> </form> When the method 'del_item' doesn't exist, the page displays correctly. As soon as I create the method 'del_item', I can't view this page anymore without the above error. Am I barking up the wrong tree? What would zope care if 'del_item' existed or not, it apparently doesn't care when it is yet to exist, but when I create it, the calling page isn't viewable, and I've not even pressed the 'submit' button. Thanks for your time and effort. Gary.

It's light-years ahead of what AOL releases as NS6.0 -- faster, ligher and _much_ more stable ... at least on Linux. I'm using 0.7 right now, although I think that my old MP18 nightly was actually a bit better. Plus the RPM I grabbed for RH7.0 has the SSL stuff built right in. (You have to grap it seperately for NS6.) I'm told (but haven't tried this out) that the Windows build is also much improved. Also, 0.8 is due out this week... > -- > Kit O'Connell > kito(a)clearcommerce.com > 'yes is a world & in this world of yes live (skilfully curled) all worlds' - > e.e. cummings //glw

Re: [Zope] Dates

Which version of Zope are you using? I tested my examples in Zope 2.3.0. This is the first version that uses the mx.DateTime module, which is more accurate than the original DateTime module from the Python 1.5.2 dist. Zoo guestbook example.
by Ignacio Valdes 12 Feb '01

12 Feb '01

Hello all, I'm working the Zoo guestbook example: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/SimpleExamples.html and have created all the documents which seem to work fine. The Python method addEntry that drives the actual update of the database I created by doing an add python script then putting the code in just like the example as follows: """ Create a guest book entry. """ # create a unique document id id='entry_%d' % len(context.objectIds()) # create the document context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addDTMLDocument(id, title="", file=comments) # add a guest_name string property doc=getattr(context, id) doc.manage_addProperty('guest_name', guest_name, 'string') Syntactically it looks good to Zope, but it has a problem with the 'context' variable and doesn't seem to know what it is. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? -- IV

Zope Book Example
by Leonardo Mota 12 Feb '01

Hi every one. Has anyone been able to make Chapter's 10 example "Acquiring Arguments from other Objects" to work? I've followed all the instructions, but my ZSQL Method can't acquire the value from the folder's property when I access it directly trough the URL: http://localhost:8080/Departments/Sales/requisitionSomethingForm I fill out the form and when posting it I get an exception. Using Zope 2.3 and Zserver it throws a: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: ['department_id']Dieter Maurer wrote: Thanks in advance.

I have the very same problem. And while this isn't a perfect solution, Zope does seem to get along with mozilla 0.7 quite well. Of course, on my PII 350, mozilla is a bit of a pig. If you're a gnome-ish sort, Galeon also seems to work well, and doesn't seem quite as sluggish as mozilla. > > Dieter > -- Geoffrey L. Possibly not the answer you were looking for, but I have had better luck with Netscape 6 under Linux -- it seems pretty stable when working with Zope, and better supports Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). OTOH, it seems to die whenever I visit an SSL page. :P -- Kit O'Connell kito(a)clearcommerce.com 'yes is a world & in this world of yes live (skilfully curled) all worlds' - e.e. cummings -----Original Message----- From: Dieter Maurer [mailto:dieter@handshake.de] Sent: Saturday, February 10, 2001 11:33 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Zope 2.3 kills Netscape 4.74 The new Zope 2.3 interface kills my Linux Netscape 4.74 almost always when I change the window size. RE: [Zope] Help: dtml-var expr -> DTML method -> ZSQL method
by Mayers, Philip J 12 Feb '01

Oops, my bad - REQUEST just contains the CGI/HTTP REQUEST variables, like form variables, cookies, AUTHENTICATED_USER and so on. '_' consists of "REQUEST" along with the Zope container hierarchy down to the given method. So REQUEST is not expected to work. It *is* still a namespace, just not one that contains the other DTML methods/folder/etc. Sorry for the confusion!
