newbie Q: <base href="">
by Andre Quintos 13 Feb '01

13 Feb '01

Greetings. I'm currently setting up Zope for this company I work for. Everything is going smoothly so far except for 1 thing: Zope adds a <base href=""> automatically to every page. It looks like this: <base href="http://wwwproto.ima.com//support/" /> This really messes up the URL whenever I use the navigation bar. It looks like this: http://wwwproto.ima.com//purchase/support Notice the 2 slashes after the .com. That won't look very good once we launch the site. Is there a way to "tell" zope to stop adding that <base href=""> tag? I'm running Zserver and Apache at the same time. Hope that extra info helps. Thank you in advance to anyone who helps. self-referencing URL behavioral change in 2.3.0?
by Bill Anderson 13 Feb '01

13 Feb '01

Sorry for the vague subject, couldn't think of a better one ATM. I've been a site on 2.2.4, ZEP (041), and use balance (http://balance.sourceforge.net) to take advantage of multiple processors. Balance runs on port 80, and acts as a port forwarder-type setup to balance between three or four ZEO clients on ports 6011,6012,6013,6014. (How to coming as soon as I can get this problem fixed ...). Under Z2.2.4, everything ran fine. under 2.3.0, zope is now outputting URLs that have the client port tacked into them. Example of different URLs: under 2.2.4: http://www.immortalitysystems.net/Documents under 2.3.0: http://www.immortalitysystems.net:6014/Documents I am running siteroots for some subdomains (http://zmc.immortalitysystems.net) and am taking advantage of some, undocumented features (I guess that's what you'd call them) (see above howto reference ;), so i would rather not create a siteroot in the root folder that rewrites everything to http://www.immortalitysystems.net. This is a pure zope solution, no other server available to do the rewriting. THis solution worked perectly in 2.2.x, what changed, and how can I get it back? Bill Anderson PS, for some reason, I am not receiving the list mail, so please cc me.

Classes in PythonScripts
by Gerald Gutierrez 13 Feb '01

13 Feb '01

Hi all. I just tried to write a class in PythonScripts, and came up against a problem. The class is: class Alpha: alpha = 0 def set(self, alpha): this.alpha = alpha It seems that PythonScripts does not like this. Am I not supposed to be able to define classes?

Fw: [Zope-Annce] Zope a finalist for Software Development "Jolt" Awards
by Chris McDonough 13 Feb '01

13 Feb '01

Folks, as he says, "let the lobbying begin!" ;-) ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry O'Brien To: zope-announce(a)zope.org Sent: Thursday, February 08, 2001 12:58 PM Subject: [Zope-Annce] Zope a finalist for Software Development "Jolt" Awards Zope is a finalist for best software product of the year in the "Language and Development Environments" category of this year's Software Development Jolt Awards. Other finalists are JBuilder, Perl Builder, PHP, WebGain Studio, and Weblogic EJB Server. The Jolt Awards were launched in 1999 by yours truly when I was editor of Computer Language Magazine and were the first awards for the software development tools industry. Philippe Kahn (once head of Borland) said that the can of Jolt Cola embedded in a block of lucite is the only award that matters in the programming industry. Anyhow, I'm one of the judges, as are Scott Ambler (scott(a)ambysoft.com) Andy Barnhart (arbarnhart(a)aol.com) Hugh Bawtree (bawtree(a)sunwave.net) Andrew Binstock (alb(a)pacificdataworks.com) Dana Cline (dana(a)logicsmith.com) Gary Evans (gkevans(a)evanetics.com) Warren Keuffel (wkeuffel(a)acm.org) Chris Minnick (cminnick(a)minnickweb.com) Guy Scharf (guy(a)guyscharf.com) and Alan Zeichick (zeichick(a)acm.org) Let the lobbying begin!

Membership Bug
by Edmund Goppelt 13 Feb '01

13 Feb '01

It is impossible to delete a member using the UI provided by the current Membership product (0.7.8). To resolve this problem, I had to make a number of changes to the delUserForm dtml method. Since not being able to delete users seriously compromises the usefulness of this product, I am posting this bug report to the Zope list. I'd be curious to hear what kind of problems others have run into with Membership. 1. change: <dtml-in "defaultRack.getPersistentItemIDs()" sort> to: <dtml-in "UserSource.getPersistentItemIDs()" sort> 2. change: <form action="deleteInstances" method="post"> to: <form action="manage_deleteUsers" method="post"> 3. change: <input type=submit name="manage_deleteUsers:method" value="Delete selected ToDos"> to: <input type=submit value="Delete selected Users"> Here is the original delUserForm method: ======================================================================== <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRole(this(),['Manager'])"> <dtml-let idList="[]"> <dtml-in "defaultRack.getPersistentItemIDs()" sort> <dtml-call "idList.append(getItem(_['sequence-item']))"> </dtml-in> <dtml-in idList sort=Importance reverse> <dtml-if sequence-start> <form action="deleteInstances" method="post"> <table cellspacing=0 cellpadding=3 border=1> <tr> <th>Name</th> <th>Select</th> </tr> </dtml-if> <tr <dtml-if sequence-even>BGCOLOR="#CCFFCC"</dtml-if>> <td><a href="<dtml-var id url_quote>"><dtml-var title_or_id></a></td> <td><input type=checkbox name="ids:list" value="&dtml-id;"></td> </tr> <dtml-if sequence-end> <tr><td colspan=6 align=center><input type=submit name="manage_deleteUsers:method" value="Delete selected ToDos"></td></tr> </form> </table> </dtml-if> <dtml-else> No ToDO Items present. <br> </dtml-in> </p> </dtml-let> <dtml-else> <h2> Access Denied </h2> <p> You do not have access to this function.</p> </dtml-if permission> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> -- Ed Goppelt

Possible 'Copy' Bug in 2.3.0

Attempting to copy objects within a login manager object produces the following error under 2.3.0. Copy works correctly inside a login manager object in 2.2.4. Membership Install & ZCatalog
by Edmund Goppelt 13 Feb '01

13 Feb '01

It appears that the Membership product will no longer install under 2.3.0 due to a ZCatalog bug. Specifically, attempting to paste (or manage_clone) a ZCatalog fails with the message "The object MemberCatalog does not support this operation." Since Membership include a ZCatalog, this bug prevents it from installing under 2.3.0. Now, I'm a bit new to all this, but I'm guessing that Digital Creations should be informed about this since ZCatalog is a core Zope product. How do I go about reporting a bug? -- Ed Goppelt
