Associating properties with users
by W. Robert Kellock 31 Jan '01

31 Jan '01

Does anyone have a simple (for a Zope newbie) way of associating properties with users? I don't care whether the property is stored in the ZODB or externally in a SQL database, but what I want to be able to do is track a user as they navigate through my site and do certain things based on a property that belongs to that user. Simply put: User: Whoever1 Property1: 123 Property2: ABC User: Whoever2 Property1: 987 Property2: ZYX etc etc for many users. I've looked at LoginManager using Zope release 2.3.0, but it seems overly complex for what I want and I can't get it to go anyway. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- W.Robert Kellock Ph: +64 3 326 6115 Sales Manager Fax: +64 3 326 6115 Credit Systems Control Ltd Web: www.creditscore.co.nz "making decisions easy" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

default page is zope_quick_start! - Zope 2.3 release for windows
by Ian Thomas 31 Jan '01

A little problem I'm having with the new Zope 2.3 - Windows version. I edited index_html and it works fine if I enter http://host.com/index_html but if I enter http://host.com it gives me the quick start page zope_quick_start! Does anybody know off hand where this page is stored so I can edit it directly? A workaround until 2.3.1 is released. or better where to fix this in the code! Ian Thomas

How to pass a dictionary object from PythonScript to DTML method?
by Dirksen 31 Jan '01

31 Jan '01

I have a Python Script 'test' to return a dictionary object, but these DTML statements can't retrieve that object: <dtml-let z="test()"> <dtml-var "z['b']"> </dtml-let> It reported a KeyError, Error value: 0. What goes wrong? Cheers Dirksen __________________________________________________ Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Mail - only $35 a year! http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/

Hi All Does anyone have info on how to use the new virtual hosting system with Zope 2.3.0, I had a little product that allowed me to quickly setup Virtual hosts under Zope 2.2.x using SiteAccess 2. But may product no longer works under Zope-2.3.0 Thanks ---------------------------------- E-Mail: Stephen Cimarelli <stephen(a)clari.net.au> Date: 31-Jan-01 Time: 12:50:28 ClariNet Internet Solutions +61 3 9486 0811 www.clari.net.au ----------------------------------

Hi all, The files found at http://www.zope.org/Members/sspickle/DumbZPatternsExample are not usable with Zope 2.3. Would it be possible to someone (Steve S. ;-) to update them ? Thanks a lot. -- Godefroid Chapelle BubbleNet 30, rue Victor Horta B-1348 Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) +32 (10) 45 06 46

How to display image returned from Catalog query
by Timothy Wilson 30 Jan '01

30 Jan '01

Hey everyone, I've got a PythonScript that returns a list of 'Photo' instances. I'm using <dtml-in returnPOTD size="1" orphan="0"> to grab the first instance off the list. What I can't figure out is how to display that image. I can use <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title></a> to make a link to the image, but I want this method to display the image directly. <dtml-var sequence-item> returns the instance itself and doesn't display anything. I'm sure there's something simple I'm missing here. Any suggestions? -Tim -- Tim Wilson | Visit Sibley online: | Check out: Henry Sibley HS | http://www.isd197.k12.mn.us/ | http://www.zope.org/ W. DTML difficulties
by Nolan Darilek 30 Jan '01

30 Jan '01

I'm working on my first zope product and, while everything has gone relatively smoothly so far, I'm having some issues. The product is a folderish object which contains 3 subfolders, each of which contains a specific type of object. The structure looks something like this: work/: Main folder, UI, etc jobs/: List of all jobs projects/: taskforces/: Each folder contains a job, project or taskforce object, as well as the UI to manage them. Projects and taskforces are simple objects with names, descriptions, etc. Logic will be attached to these classes so that, when instances are viewed, they will search for jobs which are assigned to them. Each job can be assigned to multiple projects/taskforces. Now, the difficulty. I'm working on the UI for the job add form, which is in work/jobs. The form needs to iterate over the contents of projects/ and taskforces/, and I can't figure out how. Here's what I've tried: <tr> <th align="LEFT" valign="TOP">Taskforces</th> <td align="LEFT" valign="TOP"> <select multiple name="taskforces:list"> <dtml-in "PARENTS[1].taskforces"> <option value="<dtml-var id>"><dtml-var title_or_id</option> </dtml-in> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <th align="LEFT" valign="TOP">Projects</th> <td align="LEFT" valign="TOP"> <select multiple name="projects:list"> <dtml-in "PARENTS[1].projects"> <option value="<dtml-var id>"><dtml-var title_or_id</option> </dtml-in> </select> </td> </tr> And the error I get is: | |Error Type: TypeError | | |Error Value: unsliceable object | Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 222, in publish_module File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: ESPWorkRequestAdd) File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: ESPWorkRequestAdd) File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/App/special_dtml.py, line 120, in __call__ (Object: ESPWorkRequestAdd) File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 528, in __call__ (Object: ESPWorkRequestAdd) File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_In.py, line 672, in renderwob (Object: PARENTS[1].taskforces) File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/OFS/ObjectManager.py, line 617, in __getitem__ (Object: RoleManager) File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/OFS/ObjectManager.py, line 257, in _getOb (Object: RoleManager) TypeError: (see above) Can anyone offer any advice?
