css not working in rewrite

Dear All, I am using python 2.3.5, zope 2.8 and plone 2.1. After writing the following rewrite rule in apache (compiled from source 1.3) the site is opening. <VirtualHost *> ServerAlias shakeelx.ekduniya.com RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:9673/VirtualHostBase/http/% {HTTP_HOST}:80/%{HTTP_HOST}/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [L,P] RewriteLog "/usr/local/apache/logs/rewrite.log" RewriteLogLevel 9 </VirtualHost> The problem I am facing is it is not picking the css as a reasult of which the site is only openig with the text with out any formating. Multiple CookieCrumblers

I am using CookieCrumbler as an authentication method on a Zope site. I am looking at the feasibility of putting multi CookieCrumbler objects (all with the same settings -- except for the cache setting) on a site in order to allow some parts of the site to be cached in an upstream proxy and forbidding others. Is this a reasonable thing to do? Will it achieve the result I am looking for?

newbie dtml-in question objectValues

Hello, I am trying to find how to get the relative path of an object. If i do: <dtml-in "objectValues('DTML Document')"> <dtml-var URLPATH0> </dtml-in> URLPATH0 does not give me the relative path of the objects interated, but rather the path of the object doing the iterating (my method). I want the path of every DTML Document the loop encounters. absolute_url works, but it puts in the undesired filename and "http://...." in front etc. Thanks in advance! I'm probably stating the obvious here, but a ZEO server + at least one ZEO client is generally advisable at the very least for debugging purposes, in which case dual CPUs/cores can be somewhat helpful (though the zeo server is not terribly processor intesive in my experience). Even with a non-ZEO setup, dual cores could obviously be helpful if you were running other cpu intensive processes like an RDBMS on the same system. Alec

Zope, Apache, REMOTE_USER

I'm using Apache 2.0, and I cannot find a solution to passing the value of REMOTE_USER from Apache to Zope when using a rewrite rule. I have Apache rewriting requests for Zope, and hooked into Tomcat with mod_jk. My users login through a servlet, and Apache has REMOTE_USER available to it. But any subsequent request to Zope loses this value. I used to have this all working when using FastCGI, but I'm hoping to use only mod_rewrite. Is it possible? Thanks, Rob

I believe that is an overly broad statement, not necessarily true in all cases. It really depends on the operating system's thread library that Python implements it's thread module on top of (as documented at http://docs.python.org/lib/module-thread.html) and how that system threading package schedules threads on the available CPUs. The real answer is "maybe; it depends". Jeff D

Problem with Zwiki mail-out

I am using Plone 2.1 and Zope 2.8.4-final, python 2.3.5, Zwiki 0.46.0 I am not having any luck getting mail-out working. The subscribe button won't appear on my zwiki and I am out of ideas as to why. I've uninstalled and reinstalled zwiki, deleted and remade the mail_replyto property, deleted and remade the MailHost object...people can get their passwords emailed to them when they sign up so I know MailHost is configured properly. I have read HowToSetUpMailOut on zwiki.org and it seems so simple. I successfully set this up once on a clients Zwiki but no longer have access to that system to look for differences. Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

Zope freeze issue

Hello Zope users ! We are deploying a Zope on a customer's server, but we have regular freeze (Zope stop to answer any requests). The Zope is running Plone 2.1 with some custom products. Here are all the informations I gathered on the issue: - Zope version 2.8.4 - Plone version 2.1.1 - Python version 2.3.5 - OS: Debian GNU/Linux, sarge, 2.6.8-smp kernel - Computer: dual Xeon with 4Gb of memory - Zope is behind Apache configured as reversed proxy Symptoms: - The Zope stops to answer incoming http request on regular intervals - When this happens, the CPU isn't used mch (about 2% used), and the memory isn't full (1Gb used on the 4Gb total) - Inspecting the Python process with gdb shows a normal operation: a running thread, and others waiting in, and then after a while (dettaching gdb, waiting a bit, and reattaching gdb) another thread running. The other threads are in: #0 0x40026d0b in sem_wait(a)GLIBC_2.0 () from /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 #1 0x00000004 in ?? () #2 0x080d29de in PyThread_acquire_lock (lock=0x87b1e70, waitflag=1) at thread_pthread.h:406 - Looking at netstat shows a few established connections to the Zope process, but not much (2-3 on avergae) What we tried: - We tried using ZEO, didn't change anything - We tried with the default 4 threads, with 10 threads, and with up to 40 threads, nothing changed I'm currently out of ideas to investigate this issue. Does any of you have an idea of why could this happen ? Or an idea of what I could try to undersatnd what's happening ? Any idea is dearly welcomed. I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG V 3.1.4. TextIndexNG V 3 is a complete new implementation based on Zope 3 technologies and can be used both in Zope 2.8 or in Zope 3. What's new? - multi-field indexing and query support - multi-lingual support - configurable converters (through ZCML) - new indexing API (allowing you to hook your custom content types with TextIndexNG through Zope 3 adapters). installing zope in a "web" hosted environment

Hello, I am using a linux web hosting service, who has recently installed python into apache. Usually i install web products via ftp. After reading how to install zope (and plone), I couldnt find a reference how to install zope using ftp only. Is there a way to do so, also, so that zope does not use its built in web server but the apache server of the web host. appreciating your response, Daniel
