RE:[Zope] Product integration - please help!
by IDEA WS 13 May '00

Hi Phil! Please don't send HTML formatted mail to the list. Some people on the list use mailers that don't take too well to it. Sorry for that. I was simply inattentive. :-| >You need to put the files you talk about into a directory under your zope >directory: > ><zopedir>/lib/python/Products/Boring. > >Create this and then put the files in there > >Then you'll have to restart Zope to get it to recognize them. > I have done it and Zope recognized the product. However there are 3 DTML files in the source and I'm not sure what to do with them. Could you give me a hint? About ZEXPs: I was trying to find a technic that would allow me to transfer my product between different Zope installations. What i did was copying "VAR" folder and exporting product with the help of Zope's Import/Export menu. But when I tried to the reverse procedure to import the product into a different Zope installation performing the same steps (copied "VAR" and tried to import .ZEXP file), I failed. I can't figure out what was wrong. Do you have any suggestions? > HTH Thanx, it really did :) Lena

Could anybody explain me how to integrate it into Zope?? Also, where could I find out about troubleshooting for importing products? When I try to import a .ZEXP file I constantly get this "The object MyProduct does not support this operation" Hope to hear from you.... Lena

Manila anyone?
by Jason Cunliffe 13 May '00

Hello Zopisti I have been looking with a lot of respect at Manila lately... http://manila.userland.com/ I really like the web sites people are making with it. - good *clean* design - interesting content - obviously a tool which encourages people to use it on daily basis I refer to the weblogs / editthispage idea http://www.weblogs.com/about The most famous around here is of course http://weblogs.userland.com/zopeNewbies/ Q1. What are the lessons and inspirations for Zope community ? Q2. How do you see the two platforms working together ? Q3. Why does DC not hire a decent graphic designer ? <flame-retardant-socks+glasses:ON> Zope is potent intelligent cutting-edge software, but it 'looks and feels' [literally/visually] like it came from from the Alfred.E.Newman-School-of 'What-me-worry-about-Design?-that's-just-for-pretty-boys! - we'll fix later'. Wake up folks - please = Later is now.. </flame-retardant-socks+glasses:OFF> - Jason ________________________________________________________________ Jason CUNLIFFE = NOMADICS.(Interactive Art and Technology).Design Director

ZopeLDAP & LDAPAdapter, same problem?!?
by julio dinis 13 May '00

13 May '00

Hi Zopers. I just cant authenticate user with this two products, even tested with m$ldap and openldap. The problem is the same. The Products can see the users can validate pair login+password but after this something goes wrong, and the not authorized pops up. I created the atributes roles and domains. I give the user role Manager and the domain (tested different options: *, myip, none). I guess the problem is with this mapping of roles and domain to zope. Any further debug I can make? Any help? by ed colmar 13 May '00

13 May '00

Hi! After registering my domain name, and reconfiguring my server, my Zserver will not start. I tried intalling a fresh zope, but I get the same error. I am new to linux, so I could be missing something obvious. Thanks for any suggestions. I have a x86 red-hat 6.1 system. The error I get: [root@linux zope]# Traceback (innermost last): File "/usr/local/zope/z2.py", line 493, in ? logger_object=lg) File "/usr/local/zope/ZServer/medusa/http_server.py", line 560, in __init__ ip = socket.gethostbyname (socket.gethostname()) socket.error: host not found

*REALLY* newbie question...
by Howard Jones 13 May '00

13 May '00

I've being playing on and off with Zope for a little while, and as a pet project to try stuff, I'm moving my own site to Zope. One of the things I wanted was a couple of sections on a page randomly pulled from a "pool" of possibles. I used this recipe from the "random content" howto: <dtml-var expr="_.whrandom.choice(Quotes.objectValues())"> and made a folder called Quotes with some DTML documents in it. However, when they are selected, the HTML is apparently escaped (I see the tags, not their effect). I can find an option for dtml-var to make it htmlescape stuff, but how do I make it NOT do that? why is it happening? Thanks in advance for any clues, Howard (the next section is picking/searching CD&Movie reviews from a MediaThings ZClass - erk!)

behavior of __setstate__ for version updates
by Scott Parish 13 May '00

13 May '00

I would like to use setstate to update my new product version; i can't however seem to figure out how to get it to work as i would like. Here is what i am trying. In my product, i have defined setstate as follows: def __setstate__(self, state): Persistent.__setstate__(self, state) if not hasattr(self, 'blah'): self.blah = "This is a test" I also have added: def change_blah(self): """ docstring """ self.blah = "That was a test" return "blah changed" I restart zope, and visit a page that uses a dtml-var tag to print blah. It prints "This is a test" as expected. I then visit the changed_blah page, and go back to the dtml-var page at which point it displays "That was a test", also as i would have expected. Now if i restart and go back to the page, it states "This is a test". Why wasn't the thing stored in the ZODB? Also, if i comment out my two lines in __setstate__, restart, and try to access blah, it doesn't exist? Why isn't it getting written to the ZODB at all? After grepping about, i found that Xen does a get_transaction().commit() after their setstate stuff, but doing that doesn't seem to do me any good either. Am i incorrect to think that this should opperate differently then this? thanks sRp -- Scott Parish http://srparish.net

Saving a rendered DTML document with LocalFS
by Jim Sanford 13 May '00

13 May '00

Any suggestions on an easy way to save a rendedred DTML document to a file with LocalFS? We have a DTML document that is a report that can be rendered on command showing the current status of orders. We send out a daily summary to an email list. The summary has a link to the archived detail report. Currently the detail report is brought up in the browser and we do a "Save as.." to save the renderd copy. I would like to automate the saving of the rendered copy. Any suggestions? Jim Sanford
