Proxy roles
by Katrin 07 May '00

07 May '00

Hi folks, I've been trying to find out how exactly proxy roles work. >From the explanation on the proxy-tab view, I assumed that if I give a DTML Document or Method the proxy role 'Manager', it wouldn't matter who is accessing that DTML Document or Method because they would have the same permissions as a 'Manager'. That is obviously wrong because it didn't work that way. Does anyone here know how these proxy roles really work? I appreciate any help. Katrin

by Danae and Andy 07 May '00

Is there a way to evaluate the DTML in a property.... for example I have <dmtl-var example> in a property of a class, but it shows up as dtml source in my web page. Is there a way to "evaluate" that code? TIA

<znewb101> How to assign and pass a variable as object ? </znewb101>
by Jason Cunliffe 07 May '00

07 May '00

Hello I have an object I want to pass variables to, for example: <dtml-call "bsdtest002.set('nom','test of bsd object')"> <dtml-var "bsdtest002.get('nom')"><br> <dtml-call "bsdtest002.set('purpose','Allow persistent access to a bsddb dictionary object just like a COM object')"> <dtml-var "bsdtest002.get('purpose')"><br> etc.. works ok :-) Now I want to abstract the code to allow fast duplication <dtml-let bsdobj = bsdtest002> or any other name <dtml-call "bsdobj .set('nom','test of bsd object')"> <dtml-var "bsdobj .get('nom')"><br> <dtml-call "bsdobj .set('purpose','Allow persistent access to a bsddb dictionary object just like a COM object')"> <dtml-var "bsdobj .get('purpose')"><br> </dtml-let> This does not work. Please can someone help me understand how to pass object names as variables.. thanks again - Jason ________________________________________________________________ Jason CUNLIFFE = NOMADICS.(Interactive Art and Technology).Design Director

Re: [Zope] streaming (video/audio)

FWIW, when I had a look at this not too long ago, there wasn't a lot there. On the other hand, writing one from scratch is a doable task - there's a fair amount to write, but it's not all that bad. (No, I can't release the one I've written - not mine to give away.) Bolting RTSP support into Zope could be done, but I'm not all that convinced it would be worth it - better would be to use a Zope based system to manage the stream configuration and files, and use a seperate system to manage the client connections. ymmv, imho, &c, Anthony >>> "Hung Jung Lu" wrote > Hi, > > Are there any open-source streaming technology available for Python/C++? Zope as an entry in inittab.
by Felipe E. Barousse 07 May '00

In one of my servers, Zope suddenly dies. The Zope processes are gone from the "ps aux" process table and no clue whatsoever is left in any log, including Z2.log My question is, has onyone included Zope (the "start" zope procedure, that is) as an entry in the /etc/inittab in order for the process to reinitiate (respawn) automatically in case it dies. I wm wondering if this is a good idea or not in relation to Zope.....? Of course, the ideal situation would be to solve the crashing factors / issues rather than "patching" the crashing with the inittab respawning. Any comments are welcome, thanks in advance. Re: index_html
by Danae and Andy 07 May '00

Alright so I fixed this one by creating an index_html method. That makes sense. So I was reading an article by Amos which said http://www.zope.org/Documentation/How-To/changeIndex that you can make a method that calls an object, so that you can change to a different object for index_html. For example: <dtml-var Default> When I call this I get <MyObject instance at 017CB800>. However when I call it directly it works fine. Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: Danae and Andy To: zope(a)zope.org Sent: Saturday, May 06, 2000 5:52 PM Subject: index_html I have a custom ZClass as my index_html in a folder. It seems though Zope doesnt choose this as the default page. Any idea how I can make it do that, is that adding a method to my Class? Thanks.
