CatalogAware and multiple meta_types

I have started down the path of trying to convert my squishdot based product to use the Catalog instead of the "old" Squishdot indexing system. I have set up the _searchable_result_columns, and _searchable_arguments methods for 4 of the variables I am interested in. I have placed the self.reindex_object() call in the manage_edit method. I commented out the old search interface. Now, all seememd good until I tried to add variables that belonged to a different meta_type. Which results in an AttributeError value: 0 Within my base class I have four different meta_types that can be added. People Promoters Events Hosts Each of these objects contain different variables. People objects contain "name", and promoter objects contain "promotername". How do I set it up so that all of these values can be cataloged and searched? Do I have to standardize naming conventions so that all objects share common variable names? Or, can I define searchable paramaters within these objects? Thanks for any ideas or suggestions! -ed-

Ah, OK -- the "community supported" ZPattern product is contributed and maintained by Phillip Eby and Ty Sarna, whose praises I cannot sing too highly here. They seem to have been "future-proofing" their release notes (the improved help system is one of the best features of the upcoming 2.2 release). Sorry for coming off so snooty -- I didn't want any of the "core" Zope product to be "jumping the gun." BUG: weird acquisition problem with <dtml-if>

Hi, I think I have found a bug in Zope 2.1.6. I have the following code which is <dtml-var Code> included into every document on my server. If the document (docid) is *acquired* then the code below works as expected. If the document is *not acquired* then the <dtml-if "id == compare_inner"> line needs to be changed to: <dtml-if "id() == compare_inner()"> for the compare to work. If I display the values using:  I get the appropiate values for both document types If I display the values using:  I get the incorrect behaviour described above. standard_error_message

Quick question about error messages under Zope 2.1.0 under Linux: Is it possible to overload the standard_error_message document, or do all errors essentially come from the root of the tree? I'd like to be able to create customized error messages for SiteAccess'd sites, or just different parts of the tree, for that matter.

Cascading Style Sheets and Zope

Hello All, In my experimenting with my first Zope website, I'm finding that I am spending a lot of time getting the different portions of the site to look the same. I've set up a few DTML methods like <dtml-var font_14pt> and <dtml-var table_format> that I use, but I bet there's a better way. I don't know anything about CSS, other than the concept, and am wondering if something like a DTML method that holds all the style sheet info is a good idea. That way, each page could simply reference that style sheet method. If the look of the site needed to be changed, the change would only have to happen in one location. I'm interested in hearing what others are doing to achieve this same goal. Should I go down the CSS road or is there a better way? TIA, Eric.

Zope Tutorial trouble

Hi, I`m trying to install the Zope Tutorial under a Debian system with Zope 2.1.6-1 installed. I'm able to select and read every item of the navigation of the Tutorial except *all* lessions. 8-( I also managed to get a view of the examples through the management view. So I knew that the tutorial is exact the think I really need! Now the error I get is: Lesson 1. "Elvis Lives" Home Page Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: KeyError Error Value: tutorialExamplesURL What can I do to further investigate the error??? "free" personal web sites that use Zope?

Sorry to ask such an elementary question, but... My nephew asked me over the weekend if I knew of any services that allowed people to make their own web sites. Instead of just sending him to Geocities or something similar, I thought I'd check first to see if there are any sites that use Zope to help users create free personal web sites. I didn't see any promising links on the Zope web site.
