"free" personal web sites that use Zope?
by Skip Montanaro 01 May '00

01 May '00

Sorry to ask such an elementary question, but... My nephew asked me over the weekend if I knew of any services that allowed people to make their own web sites. Instead of just sending him to Geocities or something similar, I thought I'd check first to see if there are any sites that use Zope to help users create free personal web sites. I didn't see any promising links on the Zope web site. zcatalog
by Jonathan Park 01 May '00

01 May '00

hello, I want to have a search only with one input using zcatalog that would do both searches on title and 'raw' instead of having two separate input area. don't laugh :) but I tried using <dtml-if title> and <dtml-else> but that didn't work... so I am going to use a switch statement, but I was curious how I would implement the above. Thank you! -jon Have a great day!

Error Packing Data.fs
by Eric L. Walstad 01 May '00

01 May '00

Hi, I am getting a permission denied error when I try to pack the Data.fs file I found one answer to this in the archives, but I need a little more explanation. Here's the answer from the archive: > That is the point - when Zope is run under root, it automatically drops > to nobody, and nobody doesn't have permissions to your Data.fs. > > Error Type: IOError > Error Value: [Errno 13] Permission denied: > '/usr/local/Zope/var/Data.fs' > >Oleg. (All opinions are mine and not of my employer) My question is: Do I change the ownership of Data.fs to "nobody" or do I change the user Zope is run as? I guess I don't understand the consequenses of each option so I don't know which is the best way to go. Thanks, Eric.

ZOPE and Slackware
by jiva＠devware.com 01 May '00

01 May '00

This is SLIGHTLY off-topic, but I'm trying to get Zope installed on Slackware Linux 4.0 In order to do this, I need to compile python 1.5.2 and get it running on there. I've done this, and I start up zope and it croaks on the time.daylight attribute. (it doesn't exist) Here's the stack dump: File "/usr/local/Zope-2.1.6-src/ZServer/medusa/http_server.py", line 746, in ? tz_for_log = compute_timezone_for_log() File "/usr/local/Zope-2.1.6-src/ZServer/medusa/http_server.py", line 729, in compute_timezone_for_log if time.daylight: AttributeError: daylight And checking this just using python, I get: >>> import time >>> time.daylight Traceback (innermost last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? AttributeError: daylight >>> This does NOT occur under RedHat (which I am more familiar with, but I have to use slackware in this case). Can anyone tell me what parameters I have to compile python with to get the time.daylight module to work? Jiva -- If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. -- W.E. Hickson

manage_clone issue
by Marco Mariani 01 May '00

I've got a nice (!) ArtClass, subclassed from ObjectManager. I'd like to create an instance of ArtClass that contains a few Images, then (eventually) delete the Images. I get the following: ! The object MVC-009F.JPG does not support this operation [...] File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/OFS/CopySupport.py, line 284, in manage_clone (Object: art_1) File /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/OFS/CopySupport.py, line 374, in _verifyObjectPaste (Object: art_1) Copy Error: (see above) This is the code: def NuovoArticolo(self,REQUEST,RESPONSE): r='' group = REQUEST.form.get('group') # list of images to be added next_art = self['next_articolo'] # next article ID: property of this folder upload = self.upload.this() # upload folder contains the images id = 'art_%s'%next_art newob=upload.Control_Panel.Products.MArticolo.ArtClass(id) newob.id=id upload._setObject(id,newob) r=r+ 'Articolo %s aggiunto.' % next_art next_art = next_art + 1 next_foto = self['next_foto'] # next image ID for i in group: newob.manage_clone(upload[i],'foto_%s'%next_foto) newob[next_foto].manage_changeProperties({'filename': i}) # store old filename next_foto = next_foto + 1 self.manage_changeProperties({'next_articolo': next_art}) self.manage_changeProperties({'next_foto': next_foto}) return r What am I doing wrong?

IE Auth failures, NS works fine
by JB 01 May '00

01 May '00

Please excuse my ignorance in this matter. I know nothing about Windows. I have posted this before but have had no luck with a solution. I thought one more try here and then I guess I migrate to Enhydra or something. Anyway, I have a site with about 300+ users running on Redhat 6.1 with Apache serving Zope. Auth is handled by GUF, but I don't think GUF is an issue. I've been fielding problems authenticating with Internet Explorer for about a month now. The solution? Use Netscape. It works perfectly. I don't think this is very acceptable, however. Can't anyone help me track this down? I have no idea where to start looking in Windows to figure this out. I have no idea what questions to ask. Why is a browser not a browser? TIA jim

RE: RE: [Zope] Acquisition problem
by Andreas Wacknitz 01 May '00

01 May '00

Hi, the problem I originally mentioned is more simple: Root = Zeilenfarbe | + - index_html | + - Folder1 = Zeilenfarbe | | | + - index_html | + - Folder2 | + - index_html Within index_html I use Zeilenfarbe to set the backgraound color of odd table rows: ... BGCOLOR="<dtml-var Zeilenfarbe>" ... What I expect is: - Root's index_html renders Root's Zeilenfarbe - Folder1's index_html renders Folder1's Zeilenfarbe - Folder2's index_html renders Root's Zeilenfarbe BUT: Folder1's index_html renders Root's Zeilenfarbe. If I drop Root's Zeilenfarbe Folder1's index_html will render it's own Zeilenfarbe (and Root's and Folder2's index_html will raise errors). Andreas

Acquisition problem
by a.wacknitz＠francotyp.com 01 May '00

01 May '00

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am a little bit confused as acquisition does not work as I expected it would. I have assigned a property named Zeilenfarbe (to the top level folder). Zeilenfarbe is used to set the background color of odd rows in tables. When I assign a property with the same name (and other content) to a subfolder the rows are colored with the color defined at top level. If I remove the property at top level I will get the expected row colors. So what is wrong here? Re: [Zope] tree-tag & SQL - works not properly with zope2.1.6
by Andrew Williams 01 May '00

Philipp: I am running Zope 2.1.6; here is how I have my tree stuff setup (now that I'm in the office and can look at my code): Database: ---------- Objectid as String, Primary Key Parentid as String --------- SQL Method: ------------ Name: q_associativeprimary Arguments: parentid Query parameter: select objectid from t_associativeprimary where <dtml-sqltest parentid type=string> ------------- DTML Method: -------------- <dtml-let objectid=platformadmin> ...html stuff... <dtml-call "FSSession.set('pa',platformadmin)"> <dtml-tree id=objectid branches_expr="q_associativeprimary(parentid=objectid)" leaves=q_results_dtml urlparam="pavar=1"> <B><dtml-var objectid></B> </dtml-tree> ...more html stuff.. </dtml-let> --------------- q_results_dtml simply uses the objectid to lookup some values in the database and display them. Everything works good for me. The tree is displayed and expand_all and collapse_all works (I patched treetag.py). The only thing which doesn't happen is expand_all doesn't expand the leaves. When I get a chance, I'm going to look into that part. Hope that helps...
