No module names _mysql
by Pierre-Julien GRIZEL 14 Mar '00

Chris, I had exactly the same problem as you. I eventually found it was a bad idea to use the precompiled python version shipped with the binary package. In fact when I do : $ python >>> import _mysql it works. However, when I do : $ $ZOPEHOME/bin/python >>> import _mysql It doesn't. So, I think the best thing to do is to bypass the binary python shipped with the tarball. I'm dowloading the source version to check if it is ok. // -----Original Message----- // From: Chris Best [mailto:chris.best@bluesky-technologies.com] // Sent: Wednesday, March 08, 2000 9:04 AM // To: ewalstad(a)energywright.com // Subject: Zope MySQL // // // Eric // // I'm having almost exactly the same problem except build.py crashes with: // // ImportError: No module named _mysql // // If you get an answer before me could you let me know and I'll do // the same. // // Cheers // // Chris // Pierre-Julien

Re: ZClass Base Class (QUEST)
by Alexandre Ratti 14 Mar '00

Hello, there used to be a way to change the base classes for a ZClass. It's documented here: <http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope-dev/1999-August/001288.html> I haven't used it recently. It worked for me several time in Zope 2.1.1. Make sure you backup your database before trying it. Oracle 8i on Linux
by Evan Gibson 14 Mar '00

14 Mar '00

Mourning... I've been trying to compile DCOracle for 8i under Linux and I'm _really_ not cut out for messing about with C libraries. I know Anthony Baxter has done it, but I have a strange feeling he's probably not near a computer right now. Has anyone else got this working? If so could you send me your Setup file? (Better yet would be to get it added to the ones already in the DCOracle package.) Thanks for your time, Evan Gibson -- Evan ~ThunderFoot~ Gibson ~ nihil mutatem, omni deletum ~ May the machines watch over you with loving grace.

I would like to open discussion on Version access over FTP. Few weeks ago I have posted some suggestion on this to Jim Fulton, but no reaction. I know he is very busy and so maybe here I get any response. Below, plaese see copy of what I have posted to Jim. Hi Jim, I have a problem with versions with FTP. I already read your comment in mail-list and also made little of traffic on the Zope and Zope-dev mail-lists. After this, maybe I have a suggestion how to solve the versioning also over FTP and not only HTTP. This problem arised for me, when I tried to work with versions edditing my DTML code in Emacs. I suggest to be version object a container object. The access to the version over FTP could be determined in URL. (The ID of version object, to which I want to make changes, must be a part of URL. Additioanaly, commands for join/leave, commit .. should be also in URL, just after the ID version.) This mechanism could allow to work with versions also over FTP. The classical version management over web interface in collaboratin with cookies will not be changed, the mechanism to work with versions also over FTP will be an addition. In addition, in this way, the other people could see the version ('functionality of version') also over HTTP if they know the version ID and put it in the URL. What do you think about this? If there is any other possibility to solve my problem, could you inform me? Thanks in advance, Could anybody response to this, please. It's funny, I have seen quite a few postings mentioning about GUF and Generic User Folder before, (never understood what it was, though,) and I even mentioned in my own message that I wanted to create a "Generic User." But somehow I just never made the connection. :) Hung Jung ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

passing attributes to images

and to other objects <dtml-var imagename> gives me <image src=imagename" width="123" height="456"> How can I get other attributes in there (such as BORDER=0). If I do the <image src=imagename explicitly I have to fill in the dimensions by hand (they are not the default ones). Also, is there a general mechanism for doing this sort of thing? DTMLTemplate product 0.2.0 released
by Michael Halle 14 Mar '00

14 Mar '00

I've just released my first development version of DTMLTemplates. You can find the distribution at: http://www.zope.org/Members/halazar/Products/DTMLTemplate DTML Templates are documents that allow blocks of text to be named and made available to other documents. The basic building block of templates is the DTML "block" tag, which can also be used with other DTML document types. Templates export their blocks. Another new tag, the "suppress" tag, allows block definition without rendering. Here are several nice features of blocks and templates that I believe will greatly benefit the Zope community (several of these items have come up recently in Zope email discussions): * defines libraries of methods in one file, * allows structured text formatting in a DTML document, * allows pieces of multiple documents to be combined, * allows complex web designs created with HTML editors to be used as templates, * provides template elements that encourage proper nesting of markup tags. In short, I think that Templates offer great promise for the Zope and Zope developers. This release is a very early one, though. A construct as fundamental as this one may need both syntactic and structural tweaks to function in the most useful way, and only with discussion can we figure that way out. Please don't count on this product being stable for at least a couple of releases. I appreciate your interest and feedback. Michael Halle mhalle(a)media.mit.edu
