Zope lockups...
by jiva＠devware.com 09 Mar '00

09 Mar '00

I have seen a couple of people mention zope lockups on here before and I haven't seen any myself until just recently. (I have zope on about 5-6 machines and this is the first time I've seen this happen) Anyway, how can I diagnose this problem? So far I have only seen it happen twice, but it was twice in the last 24 hours, and I'm getting ready to roll out this app to some users. I'm concerned! Anyone have any suggestions? Symptoms are basically that it just stops responding. The web browser seems to connect, but it never completes the connection. Right now I have it running in debug mode to see if I can catch whatever it is with some console logging. This works perfectly. Thanks a bunch. lateral aquisition

2 folders are next to each other, one is called test1 the other test2. They are within the same Home folder, but one is not within the other. Can an index_html document in test1 grab a dtml-var from test2? How is this done? In html i would simply write ../test2/dtml-var. This does not work in Zope. ************************* Tom Scheidt www.falsemirror.com tom(a)falsemirror.com *************************

Is this a known bug? manage interface/tree view
by Nils Jeppe 09 Mar '00

09 Mar '00

Hi Folks, I sometimes et the strange and quite inconvenient problem that the treeview of the manage interface gets spacing of a few cm's between the (+) sign and the folders on any folder below the 2nd level. The result is that the tree is quite wide. Does anybody else have this problem? It seems to be happening if more than one or two branches are expanded, but I haven't pinned the exact problem down yet. I use 2.1.4, debian-packaged zope. Is this a known bug, can I help in some way in tracking it down? Nils -- "Fool me seven times, shame on you. Fool me eight or more times, shame on me." -- Amy

Hi, Is it possible to use catalog to index ordinary html pages intelligent ? If I have a html(dtml) file like: <HTML> <p id=title> Are you Intelligent ? </p> <p id=author> A. Einstein </p> </HTML> I would like to index the title and the author id's, for which I could search. Is it possible ?? I'm sure this is simpler than I'm making it out to be, but here goes... I'm looking at using SquishDot as a 'home page' for our Intranet, but can't seem to make its index_html show up as the default document. What I'd like is for a user to be able to point his or her browser at "http://www.mysite.com" and get SquishDot, outisde of setting up a redirect. What's the easiest way to do this? RE: [Zope] RE: [newbie] MySQLDA Installation error at MySQLdb build.

Hi Andy, In my MySQLdb directory, the Setup.in file contains the following: _mysql _mysqlmodule.c -L/usr/local/lib/mysql -I/usr/local/include/mysql -lmysqlclie nt Note that this does NOT point to the location of the Python.h file, as you suggested it should (below) I've just finished recompiling and installing Python, Python-devel, MySQL, MySQL-devel; after each step, I tried to run the build.py script and each time I get the following error: Traceback (innermost last): File "build.py", line 14, in ? import MySQLdb File "MySQLdb.py", line 19, in ? from _mysql inport * ImportError: ./_mysqlmodule.so: undefined symbol: Py_InitModule3 I even tried installing just MySQLDA and that failed, too. <EXTREME FRUSTRATION>All I want is to be able to connect to a MySQL DB from Zope.</EXTREME FRUSTRATION> Any assistance is greatly appreciated! what defines the absolute_url() prefix?
by Daryl Tester 09 Mar '00

09 Mar '00

G'day, I'm having a blast using (technically: playing with :-) Zope 2.1.4 on a RedHat 6.1 box, and mod_pcgi2 (1.0.1). For my first efforts, I've built a set of DTML methods which emulates www.python.org's style of website, with an index_html method that "includes" Banner, Sidebar, Body etc methods, which can be over-ridden in lower-down folders. All funky stuff, works well. In the Sidebar, I have links to folders within the site using absolute_url() (because of issues with BASE HREF giving me multiple folder syndrome). I can access the folder with the URL http://localhost/cws/Help (and the logfile shows "GET /cws/Help"), but the absolute_url() method on cws.Help is actually returning "http://localhost/cws/cws/Help" (which is also accessible - kinda odd, but not what I want). I kinda suspect I've screwed the mod_pcgi2 config, mainly because its the area I'm the most confused about :-) I have the following config in Apache: <Location /zope> SetHandler pcgi-handler PCGI_ROOT / PCGI_SetEnv SiteRootPATH / </Location> <Location /cws> SetHandler pcgi-handler PCGI_ROOT /cws PCGI_SetEnv SiteRootPATH /cws </Location> (Oh, and I've just added a <dtml-var REQUEST> to the Help page, and it's returning URL http://localhost/cws/cws/Help/index_html for accesses to http://localhost/cws/Help, so it's awfully consistent in its behaviour. How does zope determine what the prefix is, and better yet, how do I fix it to mesh with reality? Regards, Daryl Tester
