DTML Methods and Acquisition...
by Curtis Maloney 25 Feb '00

25 Feb '00

Greetings again.... I'm starting to wonder why I took so long in signing onto this list.. (o8 Anyway... Firstly, thanks to all those who helped with my GUF / SiteAccess problem... all is settled in the land, the peasants are pleased. However, there seems to be a problem with DTML methods and Acquisition. As I understood it, a DTML method should be able to use all the same objects available to it's caller. This, however, is NOT the case. The symptoms of this drove me to use GUF in my last adventure, where i couldn't access the "FSSession" from a DTML method. This time, i couldn't use an SQL method. What am I missing? Curtis.

DTML method arguments?
by John-Paul Gignac 25 Feb '00

25 Feb '00

Hello. I am very new to Zope. I am wondering if DTML provides a brief argument-passing syntax which is equivalent to the following: <dtml-let name="'John'" age="'18'"> <dtml-var describe_person> </dtml-let> For example, it might look something like this: <dtml-var describe_person(name="'John'" age="'18'")> Thanks in advance, John-Paul Gignac

if comparsion problem
by Oliver Wrede 25 Feb '00

I am using this simple code to make a little navigation bar <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('localid',id)"> <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues(['DTML Document'])"> <dtml-unless "title == ''"> <dtml-if "localid == id"> <dtml-var title_or_id> <dtml-else> <a href="<dtml-var id>"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-if> </dtml-unless> </dtml-in> It is intended that the title of the current page is bolded instead of linked. Unfortuneatly the <dtml-if "localid == id"> does never seem to match! When I insert a control output like this: '<dtml-var id>':'<dtml-var localid>' I can _see_ that there should be a match! I get two identical strings. So what did I miss? Oliver .. Oliver Wrede .. owrede(a)khm.de .. Academy of Media Arts, Cologne .. Peter-Welter-Platz 2 . 50676 Koeln, Germany .. http://www.khm.de .. Either you explicitly set LS> the content-type in RESPONSE, or there's some kind of junk you can put at LS> the top of the doc that will tip off the scanner. I have the following code in standard_html_header to force the content type explicitly, and <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('content-type', 'text/html')"> when a GET request comes to the URL, the content-type header in the HTTP response appears correctly. However, when a HEAD request comes, the response always appears as application/octet-stream. Does anybody know how to correct this? including other objects from other folders
by Kevin Meinert 25 Feb '00

25 Feb '00

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Maybe this is in a faq somewhere (if so please point me to it!) but all the ones i've seen don't describe any way to do this: I want to include dhtml using a <#var > statement. That's easy... but I want to include it from a different folder than the one i'm currently in. For example... In index_html in my Squishdot folder, I want to "include" a "Poll" module in the page. Here's the hierarchy... + root - index_html + Squishdot - index_html + Poll - index_html So in my root/Squishdot/index_html, I want a statement like <#var Poll/index_html> but this of course gives a server error... it apparently doesn't understand the / I gave it. Is there some other #include statement that I should be using? Or is there some trick to using #var? The documentation is so random, I can't find such a basic description of how to do what I need! (plus Im really new to zope, so that may have something to do with it) Please email me a reply at KevinMeinert(a)BigFoot.com Thanks!! call SQL method
by Pedro Silva 25 Feb '00

25 Feb '00

Hi, for me to call a SQL Method from a DTML all I have to do is: <dtml-call "sqlmethodname"> or I have to tell the parameteres of that sqlmethod? The SQL Method that I'm trying to call insert information in a table. The code that I have in that SQL Method is: INSERT INTO Registos (nome, apelido, morada, localidade, casa, telemovel, data_nasc) VALUES ('<dtml-var fname>', '<dtml-var lname>', '<dtml-var address> <dtml-var fzip>-<dtml-var restzip>', '<dtml-var localzip>', <dtml-var home_phone>, <dtml-var cel_phone>, '<dtml-var data_nasc>' ) The arguments are: nome apelido morada localidade casa telemovel data_nasc This arguments are the columns of the table. The variables fname, lname, address, and so on, are the variables of a form in a DTML document. If in a DTML Method I call the sql method this way: <dtml-call "sqlInsert('<dtml-var fname>','<dtml-var lname>','<dtml-var address>','<dtml-var fzip>','<dtml-var restzip>','<dtml-var localzip>','<dtml-var home_phone>','<dtml-var cel_phone>','<dtml-var year_date>','<dtml-var mes_date>','<dtml-var dia_date>')"> Is correct this way? please send your answers to: psilva(a)ruido-visual.pt Pedro

Re: Zope Documentation Plan

Re: Zope Documentation Plan : two words......great news !! A minor suggestion .... docs for contributed products...having used many of the user-contributed products, I have encountered variable quality of docs (i.e. "ranging from here it is, you're on your own now" to some very nice docs). Maybe a set of guidelines or a template for docs for user-contributed products would also be useful. hope this helps. Darcy

"Ibañez Palomar Juan David" wrote: > It's not zope, it's the browser who adds "<html><head></head>". Hmm not sure about that, lynx -source gives the same result as netscape. my top level object has the following getXML-method (not useable for other than my own small application): def getXML(self): """ """ r = '<?xml version="1.0"?>\n<project id="%s">' % self.id for i in self.objectValues(): if(i.id != 'acl_users'): r = r + i.getXML() return r + '</project>\n' Do I have to somehow change the content-type for my method, or what goes wrong? Best, Jacob
