I am allowing the user to generate properties consisting of lines for a folder. I don't know the id of these properties at design time, but I can get them at run time. For example, a the name of a property called comps, is set into listVar by iterating through a master list. <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('listVar', _['sequence-item'])"> Note that I now have listVar = 'comps'. However, the user will actually have created a comps property previously and I want to iterate through it. <dtml-in comps> How can I do this if I have the name stored as a string in listVar. Stupid User Access Question

I have some confusion over how to build a web site in Zope which allows people to access the site either as a "normal" web site, or to access it for the purpose of maintenance. An example of this might be something like zope.org. I can visit www.zope.org and never be prompted for a password. I can visit all "public" sections without seeing a prompt. Yet I know that there is a management interface underneath. How is this handled? Another thing I would like to do (I think) is establish a "registered" user type. A registered user would be able to see more content than just the home page. When an attempt is made to access a "registered user" page by an unregistered user, I want to display a login page rather than a basic auth dialog. Ok, I'm posting followup to my one posting :) What I did, I finally decided to write external method. Here follows the code: [ http_fetch.py ] def fetch_file(uri): from httplib import HTTP from urlparse import urlparse parsed_uri=urlparse(uri) h = HTTP(parsed_uri[1]) h.putrequest('GET', parsed_uri[2]) h.putheader('Accept', 'text/html') h.putheader('Accept', 'text/plain') h.endheaders() errcode, errmsg, headers = h.getreply() if errcode == 200: f = h.getfile() return f.read() [EOF] While calling you need to pass argument(uri) taht points to document you want to fetch. zserver 1 session default?

Trying to access zserver/zope pages: 1. At home I dialed up up my ISP to connect to internet 2. I launched zserver and recorded my ip address 3. I went to work 4. I successfully accessed/browsed my zope pages from my work PC(neat!), but... 5. I attempted to have others access zope from their pc's and NOCANDO? I could continue to access but they could not. Why only 1 incoming ip address for zserver at a time? Using vers 2.1.1 on Redhat Thanks.

About all I can say is that I'm using Debian's Zope packages on my Alpha box, with no trouble. Your problem does not appear to be alpha-specific. ZDiscussions 0.2.0 setup questions

Alright, I have reverse-exported zdiscussions 0.2.0 after 0.1.0. I didn't find that the README.txt files told me what to do next. I created a ZDiscussions instance in my ZCatalog. What do I type next to browse my (currently empty) discussions list? Applying xml tricks to dynamic sources?

Hi, I'd like to somehow use the xml product with xml that I retrieve via http. The examples I saw so far, though, assume that the is saved in Zope as an xml object. I guess I could get what I want by: 1) Fetch my xml via http 2) Save it in a temp folder 3) Apply whatever methods I want 4) Delete the temp folder ...Doesn't sound too great, if this'll be happening on every page request. Any other way? ( I think that this is an important issue - Factoring network services into xml data sources is the Big Thing, and systems that can filter/manipulate xml and then pass it on are in high demand. Right now, I'm deciding whether to do this in Zope or in Java servlets...) Thanks, Robb
