Pedro, Please keep responding to the list. Sorry, I can't help you with the code here as I'm pretty swamped (and as I don't know exactly what you're trying to do). If you keep posting to the list, it's possible someone will be able to help you. Thanks! Peculiar effects with SQL tree
by Stephen Harrison 08 Feb '00

08 Feb '00

I have a dtml-tree which is getting its tree data from an sql method: <dtml-let oid="0"> <dtml-tree id='oid' branches_expr="sqlSelect_treeParent(parent_id=oid)"> <B><dtml-var name></B> <dtml-var oid> </dtml-tree> </dtml-let> However, with only a small amount of data in the tree table this is behaving in a very strange way, where clicking on expand/collapse links will have random effects, either doing nothing expanding/collapsing a random part of the tree or, occasionall, doing what it should do. Is this a problem anyone else has come across? Cheers, Stephen -- Stephen Harrison - stephen(a)nipltd.com New Information Paradigms - www.nipltd.com

can't log in to manage
by Barry Smoke 08 Feb '00

08 Feb '00

I am using RedHat 6.0. I first installed the Zope 1.10.3 rpm package for python 1.5.1. I found that the server ran....the example site popped up, and the quickstart works just fine....but I can not log in to manage zope. I checked the /var/local/zope/access file, and edited it correctly, then restarted /etc/rc.d/init.d/zope. I checked permissions on it. Everything looked like it should......but i could not log in to the /manage I decided to go ahead and update python to 1.5.2.....then I removed the Zope rpm package, and installed Zope 2.1.2 thinking that should fix it......wrong!!!! Same thing....... I did find the zpasswd ....it edited the /var/zoipe/access(yes, I did figure out it had moved :-)) and it encrypted my new password....this is a nice new feature. I still can't log in though. I left the domain completely off.....I put in a :*, I've tried everything. I've now tried removing that rpm, and downloading the source rpm for 2.1.2 I did a rpm --rebuild.... then installed every rpm but the Zope-pcgi......(I'm wanting to run it on 8080) I still get the same thing.........] Now my hair is gray...and coming out. Someone please shed some light on this... Thanks, Barry Smoke

creating new role in DTML
by Oliver Frommel 08 Feb '00

08 Feb '00

Hello, I am trying to create a new role with a DTML document like this: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('role', 'myrole')"> <dtml-call "manage_defined_roles( 'Add Role', REQUEST )"> unfortunately this doesn't seem to create a new role, nor does it produce an error message. What am I doing wrong? --Oliver

Acqusition
by Jacob Gorm Hansen 08 Feb '00

Hi, Say I've got two objects: class MyFolder(OFS.Folder.Folder,ExtensionClass.Base): def __init__(self,language): self.id = language self.language = language and below that one in the zope hierachy, a: class MyText(Acquisition.Implicit, OFS.SimpleItem.Item, Persistent, AccessControl.Role.RoleManager): def foo(self): return self.language howcome foo() fails to return the language-value? If I use the property sheet in zope to add a "language" property, it works fine. best regards, Jacob

RE: [Zope] Problem with Oracle DA on Solaris / Sparc
by Spicklemire, Jerry 08 Feb '00

That did the trick, thanks! > ImportError: No module named oci_ The oci code is built into a shared library named oci_.so. The Makefile leaves the file in the src directory, which is where the test script is located. Since the two files are in the same place the test script works fine. For production, though, you need to copy/move *.so from the src directory to the DCOracle directory so that it will be found when ZOracleDA imports DCOracle. I think from discussions with Chris Petrilli at IPC8 that DC has a solution to this one on the "near term" track (it is a show-stopper for many uses of Versions). The core of the idea is to reify the individual nodes within the Catalog, so that a change to a CatalogAware object within a Version locks only that node, rather than the whole catalog. -- ========================================================= Tres Seaver tseaver(a)palladion.com 713-523-6582 Palladion Software http://www.palladion.com

Problem with Oracle DA on Solaris / Sparc
by Spicklemire, Jerry 08 Feb '00

Hi Folks, We're getting this traceback from the "ZOracleDA (Broken product ZOracleDA)" item under the Product Management folder of the Zope Control Panel. ZOracleDA Import Traceback Traceback (innermost last): File "/i01/Zope-2.1.3-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/OFS/Application.py", line 387, in import_products product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "/i01/Zope-2.1.3-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/Products/ZOracleDA/__init__.py ", line 103, in ? import DA File "/i01/Zope-2.1.3-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/Products/ZOracleDA/DA.py", line 103, in ? from db import DB File "/i01/Zope-2.1.3-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/Products/ZOracleDA/db.py", line 101, in ? import DCOracle, DateTime File "/i01/Zope-2.1.3-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/Products/ZOracleDA/DCOracle/__ init__.py", line 66, in ? from ocidb import Connect, error File "/i01/Zope-2.1.3-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/Products/ZOracleDA/DCOracle/oc idb.py", line 50, in ? import oci_, ociCurs, ociProc ImportError: No module named oci_ The Oracle DA test script seemed to work fine, connecting with no error message. Since the test script also calls oci_ it seems that linking and compiling have been successful. Still, Zope that fails to find the module on startup. I did notice that there are lots of mudules, both .py files and source code that start with "oci_", but none that I could find named just "oci_". Thanks for any suggestions, Jerry S.
