Hello...:) I was just wondering if it's possible to use External methods (Py of course) on zope.org and in case of yes, how? I know how to use external methods on my own distribution, but not on Zope.org Best regards Ulf ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Creating folders based on a skeleton, programatically?
by Phil Harris 24 Jan '00

24 Jan '00

Hi all, I'm trying to create a user's folder programatically. This is quite easy, but I want to then create the contents based on the contents of another folder ('skel'). Once the user folder is created I'm trying to use manage_copyObjects and then manage_pasteObjects to accomplish this. The Folder structure is like this: Root +-World +-skel addUserForm looks like: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <P>To add a new user, enter the name, password, confirmation and roles for the new user and click "Add". <br> <EM>Domains</EM> is an optional list of domains from which the user is allowed to login. </P> <FORM ACTION="addUser" METHOD="POST"> <TABLE> <TR><Th align="right">Name:</Th><TD VALIGN="TOP"><INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="name" SIZE="20"></TD></TR> <TR><Th align="right">Password:</TD><TD VALIGN="TOP"><INPUT TYPE="PASSWORD" NAME="password" SIZE="40"></TD></TR> <TR><Th align="right">(Confirm):</Th><TD VALIGN="TOP"><INPUT TYPE="PASSWORD" NAME="confirm" SIZE="40"></TD></TR> <TR><TD VALIGN="TOP"></TD><TD VALIGN="TOP"><INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" NAME="submit" VALUE="Add"></TD></TR> </TABLE> </FORM> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> There is then an external method ('addUser') that creates the user (works ok), creates the user's folder (works ok) and then attempts to create the content based on the contents of 'skel'. This external method has these lines in (amongst others): self.manage_addFolder(id=username,title='',createPublic=0,createUserF=0) o=getattr(self, username) o.manage_pasteObjects(o.skel.manage_copyObjects(o.skel.objectIds())) So calling the addUserForm like http://localhost:8080/World/addUserForm calls addUser with the relevant details in the REQUEST. However when the line above doing the copy tries to execute I get this error message: One or more items referred to in the clipboard data was not found. The item may have been moved or deleted after you copied it. with this traceback in the source of the error page: Traceback (innermost last): File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 214, in publish_module File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 179, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 202, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: ElementWithAttributes) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 165, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: addUser) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 102, in call_object (Object: addUser) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\Products\ExternalMethod\ExternalMethod.py, line 248, in __call__ (Object: addUser) (Info: ((<Folder instance at 08B10700>, <h3>form</h3><table><tr valign="top" </tr> <snip lot's of request detail you don't really need to see> </table>, ZServerHTTPResponse('')), {}, (None, None))) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\Extensions\add_User.py, line 42, in add_User (Object: ElementWithAttributes) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\OFS\CopySupport.py, line 198, in manage_pasteObjects (Object: ElementWithAttributes) Copy Error: (see above) Any body got any ideas? Hi, Is there a way to tell the "sort" attribute of <dtml-in> to sort the key in descending order? (I'm sorting by "id" of documents in a folder) Thanks, Chris

Tracking a DTML tree branch
by J C Lawrence 24 Jan '00

24 Jan '00

Given a DTML tree, and a particular branch of that tree having been selected (leaf or mid-way), is there a way to determine the "path" from the root to the point selected? ie Given the tree: +-+--A | | | +--E | | | +--F | | | | | +--H | | | | | | | +--J | | | | | +--I | | | +--G | +--B And the user clicks on "H". Is there a way to determine that the path to "H" is /A/F/H? -- J C Lawrence Home: claw(a)kanga.nu ----------(*) Other: coder(a)kanga.nu --=| A man is as sane as he is dangerous to his environment |=--

Renaming ID errors
by Thomas 24 Jan '00

24 Jan '00

Dear Zope Folks, I have a ZCLASS named article. When creating an 'article', an external method is called which translated the id value so as to avoid any character which Zope does not like For example, if I input: "http://www.zope.org/helpmeplease.html" as the article id, the constructor translates this into: http%3a%2f%2fwww.zope.org%2fhelpmeplease.htm I have already created a few dozen of these articles and now realize that it is a very bad idea to namethings this way. Renaming these is normally not a problem. Now I also have a 'Catalog' which keeps track of all these new articles. I cleared the catalog, find all again within the catalog, and now try to rename and I get the following error message: Error Type: ValueError Error Value: Uncatalog of absent id '51go/Games/Bible/http%253a%252f%252fbob.com' It looks like the internal id is different from the external id that Zope presents me... ie it ran the script twice and decoded the url twice. I don't care anymore about that script and just want to rename these objects. Its strange... I can update and change the objects properties, but cannot change the article's name. Has anyone else seen this error message before? Any help or ideas on how to get around this error message would be very much appreciated. Tom

Answering my own question: _.int(ZopeTime) You appear to be able to pick whether that is in localtime: _.int(ZopeTime) or GMT terms: _.int(ZopeTime ('GMT') Perhaps the maintainer of the dateTime HOW-TO would add this data to the HOW-TO? -- J C Lawrence Home: claw(a)kanga.nu ----------(*) Other: coder(a)kanga.nu --=| A man is as sane as he is dangerous to his environment |=--
