The 'Find' machinery will not find the sub-sub-attr if the sub-attr is not traversable. Create an index called 'raw'. <dtml-with "mySQLMethod"> <dtml-call "Catalog.index_object(template, absolute_url())"> </dtml-with> or something like that... -Michel

Hi, I would like to use ZCatalog to catalog my ZSQL methods, in particular, I am interested in search ZSQL methods with templates containing a given table or row name. Give a ZSQL method "mySqlMethod", the raw template is in the attribute "mySqlMethod.template.raw". You can see my trouble, now. How can I catalog an index that is a subattribute of an attribute? Zope and WebDAV

Can someone explain in a little more detail how exactly you would utilize Zope with a WebDAV enabled client? For example, I found out yesterday by reading messages on this list, that IE5 adds "Web Folders" to a Windows Desktop. I had noticed this change in my explorer interface, but I wasn't at all sure what good it was. If Zope supports WebDAV, how can I make use of the Web Folder approach to manage Zope content. What can and can't I do with this facility? If I'm running a Zope server, how can I connect my Web Folder to my Zope platform? If anyone can provide some specifics on how to utilize WebDAV (particularly from an Explorer Web Folder) with a Zope server I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks. James W. If you're on the PythonMac-SIG you may have seen that GUSI 2 support is in CVS now for MacPython. We'd very much like to see Zope run on the MacOS, but it might be something best left for MacOS X which has a BSD layer and is easier to build for. Zope in Darwin, anybody? ;)

* I've modified the entry submission to allow selection of 'Structured Text', 'Plain Text', or 'HTML' as the text format for a question/reply/review. Zope and ODBC Test

Apparently the Test tab page of the ZODBC connection object does not work properly. Zope 2.1 always raises an "unpack sequence" error, no matter which platform (NT, Win98) or database backend (Oracle, Access, InterBase) you use. On the other hand there seems to be no trouble when you Test a ZSQL object, so for normal use there is no real issue once you know that. It is very frustating, however, when you're a Zope newbie (like me) and think it doesn't work at all because you cannot even make it work on the ZODBC connection test page, preventing you from trying it with a ZSQL object. I hope this is useful for other people who experienced the same thing, or are about to. ZopePacks: A Proposal for a new Zope Product...

Hi all, I've created a proposal for a new Zope product which I'm in the process of building. Q: How are interactive web apps done?

Hi, I've done lots of servlet programming, and am finally checking Zope out. It looks -very- interesting. I'd like to use it but I'm still trying to figure out how I'd use Zope in all the ways I use servlets. For example: A typical servlet-based web app uses the servlet API to automatically generate a session object for each user. (The API maintains the session by either a cookie or url rewriting.) A small inheritance framework can easily be written to make some servlets do authentication in their base classes before allowing the user to continue. The subclasses then can get the session object, which is a hash table of objects. One might then define a User java object that gets put into the session after authentication in the base class. Now all of the user's attributes can be accessed by the servlets. What is the equivalent way of doing things in Zope? I've read about the various user permissions, but I'm not sure how that'd be used in a web application. For example, how would an interactive banking application be implemented in Zope? Where would you define what info you want to save about each user? How is the ODB used in a more database-like way, as opposed to a transparent web document source way? Or, is there no difference? Thanks for any info. I think that it'd be great to see someone make a howto like "Zope for Servlet programmers". - Robb
