The DDL and query were really nothing special. The database I connected to is an Oracle 8.0.5 installation. I created the table with SQL*Plus: create table zopetest( id number(9), name varchar2(255)); followed by a few inserts (and checked with a select). Then I typed the following on the Test tab page: select * from zopetest and clicked on the Submit Query button. The Browse Option in Zope works fine. Any other queries I tried, with different attributes, tables and even other ZODBC database connections failed exactly the same way. >On 1/20/00 12:29 PM, Roland Reumerman at zope_ddi(a)hotmail.com wrote: > > > Some time ago I asked a question about some error I received when trying >to > > do a SQL SELECT query. WebDAV, Zope object locking
by Hung Jung Lu 20 Jan '00

Hi, When several people are working on the same site, what is the current approach in preventing two people modifying the same object? --------------------------------------------- I have seen the buzzword WebDAV here and there. I have visited the http://www.webdav.org/ site, but I am still clueless as what it is. It WebDAV still under intense development? Does Zope support WebDAV now? Is WebDAV just a protocol extension to HTTP, so people are still talking to each other on how to shape up this protocol? For developers and content managers, what software do we need to install to use WebDAV? When the Zope people talk about a "Zope WebDAV Test Server", are they referring to (1) A downloadable software package, or (2) A physical server machine, much like a website where you can create accounts for people so they can help to develop the eventual server software? --------------------------------------------- I ask these questions because neither the WebDav homepage http://www.webdav.org/ nor the Zope WebDav homepage http://webdav.zope.org:2518/ seem to provide adequate concise information for people to understand quickly what WebDAV is. This message, when archived, would help other newbies like myself. (Oh, I just found this in one of the E-group messages: "The Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) protocol is a set of extensions to the HTTP protocol for collaborative editing on the Web. Microsoft was first to market with WebDAV authoring software in Internet Explorer 5 and Office 2000, while Zope was the first application server to provide WebDAV support. Digital Creations is working with Microsoft to ensure interoperability with the upgraded WebDAV support in Windows 2000." Putting this kind of brief info in the homepages would help. It's important for user to know two things: (1) That WebDAV is not a software package, it's a protocol, much like Telnet, FTP or HTTP. (2) That things are still under development and no WebDAV-enabled Zope server is available at this moment. ) ------------------------------------------------------ Info on any other current method of locking zope objects for editing would be appreciated. regards, Hung Jung ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

As you requested I just tried the same thing with Access2000, and the results are similar (i.e., no results, only that particular error). >On 1/20/00 1:00 PM, Roland Reumerman at zope_ddi(a)hotmail.com wrote: > > > The DDL and query were really nothing special. Re: [Zope-dev] [Petition] Kludge for Splitter.c (long)
by LEE, Kwan Soo 20 Jan '00

Thanks Lalo. I summed up what I've guessed into "Voodoo Kludge Splitter.py" announced yesterday in the Zope main list and available at http://www.zope.org/Members/kslee/VoodooKludgeSplitter. Going beyond for me seems quite hard. I'll be gladly waiting comments. > On Mon, Jan 17, 2000 at 11:14:45AM +0900, LEE, Kwan Soo wrote: > > > > Hi, I've been try to (mis)understand why ZCatalog does not > > support Full Text Search for Non-Latin character text. I am just a beginner and I find very difficult to find how works some "stupid" functionality. What I would like is a structurated book (not 5 small documents one independent from the other) with a lot of example running on the web and the possibility to see (without any modification) the configuration of that demos as I see my application here in my office. Zope and ODBC
by Roland Reumerman 20 Jan '00

Some time ago I asked a question about some error I received when trying to do a SQL SELECT query. I didn't receive any reaction on that, and I couldn't find any mention of it on the Zope.org site, so I'll just ask it again.. I was running it on Windows NT 4 SP5, using the ZODBC product on Zope 2.1.2. It returned the following error message: ErrorType: ValueError Error Value: unpack sequence of wrong size I had a look at Results.py, but couldn't detect anything out of the ordinary [with my limited knowledge of Zope and Python]. -------------- The trace was: Traceback (innermost last): File D:\Program Files\WebSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 214, in publish_module File D:\Program Files\WebSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 179, in publish File D:\Program Files\WebSite\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 202, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: RoleManager) File D:\Program Files\WebSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 165, in publish File D:\Program Files\WebSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: manage_test) File D:\Program Files\WebSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 102, in call_object (Object: manage_test) File D:\Program Files\WebSite\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\Connection.py, line 177, in manage_test (Object: RoleManager) File D:\Program Files\WebSite\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\Results.py, line 104, in __init__ ValueError: (see above) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
