Zope won't give up WebDAV Lock

I have a regularly occuring WebDAV problem: A file edited via ExternalEditor gets a WebDAV lock. Upon closing (Textpad in this case) occasionally the lock is not released. The lock is not listed in Control Panel > WebDAV Lock Manager, therefore cannot be released there. Restarting Zope does not release the lock. This is getting to be a terrible problem. Once a lock is in place, the file cannot be changed, renamed, or deleted at all subsequently. ZPT with Zope 3 queries - repeat over contained items; accessing adapters

Hello, I'm building an application in Zope 3. I have a container object called a PropertyFolder, which holds Property objects. * Repeating over contained items. I'm trying to create a view which displays a list of all the Property objects in a property folder. I've tried doing this as described in the ZPT chapter of the Zope Book (2.6 edition), using a tal:repeat statement, but I can't seem to get it working. Has something changed in Zope 3? I've tried looking in the Zope 3 book, but none of the references to tal:repeat in there seem to be used for this type of thing. * Accessing adapters in ZPT I've created an adapter that provides a method called getStars that can be used on Property objects. Can I access this directly from my ZPT, as I can any other attribute of a property object? At the moment I've got it implemented via a Python view class, so my ZPT accesses it like: <div class="field" tal:content="view/stars" /> but other attributes can be accessed like: <div class="field" tal:content="context/description" /> so I guess I want to be able to do: <div class="field" tal:content="context/getStars" /> and negate the need for the Python View Class, which only says: def stars(self): """Get the stars for the property""" rate = IPropertyRate(self.context) stars = rate.getStars() return stars Thanks in advance for any tips. LDAPUserFolder OLD and Zope 2.5.1 migration to LDAPUserFolder 2.5 and Zope 2.8

I believe it was Jens that gave me the how-to on how to migrate an existing Zope 2.5.1 install using LDAPUserFolder for authentication to Zope 2.8. Below is his response with some of my questions: - Get the latest released LDAPUserFolder version and install it into your new Zope 2.8-based instance I have done this. - Make a backup copy of your old ZODB If you mean the Data.fs, then this is done also. - Log into a 2.5.1-based instance as the emergency user (-> see doc/ SECURITY.txt in your 2.5.1 Zope installation about how to create one) I can't do this part because I was left with no info in regards to what the credentials are as the emergency user. I have located the access file though. Can I delete this file and create a new one documented in SECURITY.txt? - if you don't have a LDAPUserFolder in the Zope root you can skip that and log in as a Manager user from the root user folder The LDAPUserFolder is in the root of the Zope instance and that is the only place it is located. The original acl_user folder is gone leaving only the acl_user folder with the LDAPUserFolder code. - Delete every single LDAPUserFolder instance you have I can do that as long as I am guaranteed that I will be able to log in as the emergency user and as long as when I restore the backed up Data.fs, I will be back to where I started after the migration. - Stop Zope - Copy the Data.fs into your Zope 2.8-based sandbox I am assuming you mean the cleaned up version with no instances of the old LDAPUserFolder. - If you had a LDAPUserFolder at the root, make sure you're set up for an emergency user - Start Zope and log in either as an emergency user or a root user folder manager - Recreate all LDAPUserFolder instances. Just need one, at the root. From there, upon logging in, if you are in our LDAP with the right credentials, then you can manage Zope. Tim

Hi, I just finished upgrading our production servers to Zope 2.8.0 (from Zope 2.7.6) Today I noticed that Zope 2.7.7 is under development... and it contains some interesting bug fixes (the one concerning if modified since header handling for example). I guess that these fixes will be included in Zope 2.8.1 right ? Any idea when 2.8.1 may be available ? Thanks. OK, compressing text/html is that mostly matters, so you are right, I don't care and will use that. But it's funny... if it is possible to compress text/html only, then how is this not possible with any MIME-types I choose... Is there some way to pass an object from template A to template B via HTML forms? A <form name="a" action="b" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="obj" tal:attributes="value here" /> <input type="submit" value="Press" /> </form> B <b tal:content="structure here/REQUEST"></b> Template B prints: form obj '<OrderedFolder instance at 42d9aec0>' I need the object itself, not the string representing the object! I already searched the archive and found a similar request (http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2003-November/143487.html) but I have not solved the problem. Can you suggest something to try? Thanks
