problem creating ZClasses inside ZClasses
by Andy Pahne 18 Jan '00

18 Jan '00

Hi there, I know we had this thread already a few weeks ago - and a possible solution to my problem: When I try to create a ZClass inside another existing ZClass, the inner ZClass does not show up in the global product add-list. And also the inner ZClass does not appear in the list of possible subobjects. (The Zope developers guide tells me it should automatically). I searched the mailing list at eGroups, but I was not able to find the thread. Does anybody remember this discussion or he name of the thread? Thanks in advance, Andy Pahne ap(a)net22.net

mod_pcgi2 version 1.0.0
by Oleg Broytmann 18 Jan '00

18 Jan '00

Hello! After some period of testing, after getting few success stories I changed the module version to 1.0.0! Welcome here: http://www.zope.org/Members/phd/mod_pcgi2 Almost nothing have changed since version 0.4.0. I made some cosmetic changes, but there are few of them. If you are running 0.4.0, you don't need to upgrade. I've tested the module on pentium linux and sparc solaris, in DSO (shared apache) and non-DSO (static, all apache modules compiled in). The only test I didnt tried is uploading huge binary file via PCGI. I am freezing my work on the module for some period (or until I got a bug report). It seems I don't need new features, entire PCGI protocol is implemented, and the module is well tested, debugged and now is used on a few sites (I have no URLs of other sites, only my URLs). The next thing to implement will be autoconf/configure to make installation simpler; after some period I hope to return to work on it. Logging under Apache/pcgi?
by Darran Edmundson 18 Jan '00

18 Jan '00

Enabling logging under ZServer is simple enough and fully documented in the doc/LOGGING.txt file. Where does one set the STUPID_FILE_LOGGER environment variable when running with pcgi under Apache? Do you simply set it in the Zope.cgi script? Cheers, Darran.

Is it an error?
by Oleg Broytmann 18 Jan '00

18 Jan '00

Hi! Every time I am logging in, I got a page http://www.zope.org/logged_in.html with "Tip of the day" on the right. There are links in these tips, but I've never saw these links working. Is it problem with Zope? my browser (different versions of netscape)? What sort of thing is it that you want to catalog? What do you want to do with it once it's cataloged? I think it's safe to say that many people have implemented various online catalogs in Zope (heck, http://www.zope.org/Products/ could be considered a catalog, and that's probably implemented in Zope :) You might like to look at http://www.zope.org/Members/anthony/sql_vs_ZODB to start you thinking about where you want to store your data. RE: [Zope] re: SQL Unions.

MySQL does not currently support UNION; it is on their to do list. You'll have to "fake" it somehow, maybe by doing a select on both tables and putting the result into a master list, or by settling for selecting the two in separate columns (select tableofitemsoftype1.brand AS brand1, tableofitemsoftype2.brand AS brand2 ...) and then put the results into a master list. Or, if the data is static, just make a master table containing the data from tableofitemsoftype1 and tableofitemsoftype2. -- Marcus > -----Original Message----- > From: Brenton Bills [mailto:fud@mail.theinternet.com.au] > Sent: 17 January 2000 23:47 > To: zope(a)zope.org > Subject: [Zope] re: SQL Unions. > > > > Hi people, > I have been attempting to do an SQL union from an ZSQL > Method with > MysqlDA as my back end database. How to set the login prompt?
by Jim Rowan 18 Jan '00

18 Jan '00

(This is on Zserver standalone.) I'm using the LDAPAdapter product to do authentication in a particular folder in my tree. (I'm using EtcUser above, for a different purpose.) I'd like to change the prompt that's offered to the users when they're challenged for a password. IIRC, right now it says "Enter Password for Zope". I think this is the http realm, right? Can I change it in the context of my subfolder? (Without changing it for the entire server?)

FastCGI compile failure under RH 6.1
by Patrick Phalen 18 Jan '00

18 Jan '00

I've successfully installed FastCGI behind Apache/Zope on a RH 6.1 server. Now, on another server, also RH 6.1 and with the bug fix for apxs, I get the following when I try to compile: [root@stage2 mod_fastcgi_SNAP_Oct06]# apxs -o mod_fastcgi.so -c *.c gcc -02 -m486 -fno-strength-reduce -DLINUX=2 -DUSE_EXPAT -I../lib/expat-lite -fpic -DSHARED_MODULE -I/usr/include/apache -c fcgi_buf.c apsx:Break: Command failed with rc=16711680 I'm guessing that

RE: [Zope] SQL7 connector?
by Jay, Dylan 18 Jan '00

Has anyone got a binary for the Sybase connector for NT? I want a connector to my SQL server DB that doesn't have the stupid serialize thunk in. Its lowering the performance of my web site way too much. > -----Original Message----- > From: ozric [mailto:ozric@tampabay.rr.com] > Sent: Sunday, January 16, 2000 2:48 AM > To: Stephen Pitts > Cc: Zope List > Subject: Re: [Zope] SQL7 connector? > > > It think that is correct for MS SQL 6.5 but 7 uses a different method. > I would Like to use Linux instead of NT for the Zope server, > just because I > have no Zope on NT experience or python for that matter. > This does not rule out NT.
