Hello! After some period of testing, after getting few success stories I changed the module version to 1.0.0! Welcome here: http://www.zope.org/Members/phd/mod_pcgi2 Almost nothing have changed since version 0.4.0. I made some cosmetic changes, but there are few of them. If you are running 0.4.0, you don't need to upgrade. I've tested the module on pentium linux and sparc solaris, in DSO (shared apache) and non-DSO (static, all apache modules compiled in). The only test I didnt tried is uploading huge binary file via PCGI. I am freezing my work on the module for some period (or until I got a bug report). It seems I don't need new features, entire PCGI protocol is implemented, and the module is well tested, debugged and now is used on a few sites (I have no URLs of other sites, only my URLs). The next thing to implement will be autoconf/configure to make installation simpler; after some period I hope to return to work on it. Logging under Apache/pcgi?

Enabling logging under ZServer is simple enough and fully documented in the doc/LOGGING.txt file. Where does one set the STUPID_FILE_LOGGER environment variable when running with pcgi under Apache? Do you simply set it in the Zope.cgi script? Cheers, Darran.

Is it an error?

Hi! Every time I am logging in, I got a page http://www.zope.org/logged_in.html with "Tip of the day" on the right. There are links in these tips, but I've never saw these links working. Is it problem with Zope? my browser (different versions of netscape)? What sort of thing is it that you want to catalog? What do you want to do with it once it's cataloged? I think it's safe to say that many people have implemented various online catalogs in Zope (heck, http://www.zope.org/Products/ could be considered a catalog, and that's probably implemented in Zope :) You might like to look at http://www.zope.org/Members/anthony/sql_vs_ZODB to start you thinking about where you want to store your data. MySQL does not currently support UNION; it is on their to do list. You'll have to "fake" it somehow, maybe by doing a select on both tables and putting the result into a master list, or by settling for selecting the two in separate columns (select tableofitemsoftype1.brand AS brand1, tableofitemsoftype2.brand AS brand2 ...) and then put the results into a master list. How to set the login prompt?

(This is on Zserver standalone.) I'm using the LDAPAdapter product to do authentication in a particular folder in my tree. (I'm using EtcUser above, for a different purpose.) I'd like to change the prompt that's offered to the users when they're challenged for a password. IIRC, right now it says "Enter Password for Zope". I think this is the http realm, right? Can I change it in the context of my subfolder? (Without changing it for the entire server?)

FastCGI compile failure under RH 6.1

I've successfully installed FastCGI behind Apache/Zope on a RH 6.1 server. Now, on another server, also RH 6.1 and with the bug fix for apxs, I get the following when I try to compile: [root@stage2 mod_fastcgi_SNAP_Oct06]# apxs -o mod_fastcgi.so -c *.c gcc -02 -m486 -fno-strength-reduce -DLINUX=2 -DUSE_EXPAT -I../lib/expat-lite -fpic -DSHARED_MODULE -I/usr/include/apache -c fcgi_buf.c apsx:Break: Command failed with rc=16711680 I'm guessing that

Has anyone got a binary for the Sybase connector for NT? I want a connector to my SQL server DB that doesn't have the stupid serialize thunk in. Making a Folderish ZClass 'callable'

In various DTML Documents of my site, I have a table that contains links relevant to the content of that page. A method called "linklist" is acquired, and code like this is used to generate a table of links: <dtml-with Folder_Containing_Links> <dtml-var linklist> </dtml-with> I'm contemplating replacing the above with a more elegant solution: create a ZClass called LinkContainer that derives from Folder that holds the Links and make the linklist DTML method the index_html method of that folder. Then, ideally, I could get a list of links like so: <dtml-var LinkContainer_Containing_Links> Unfortunately, the above returns something akin to: <LinkContainer instance at 86b61a0> and I have to resort to <dtml-var LinkContainer_Containing_Links><dtml-with index_html></dtml-var> I think I could fix this if I could adjust the __call__ method of the ZClass, but, alas, I can't create a method that begins with an underscore. If I had implemented LinkContainer in Python, I could have, though.
