I've been playing around a little bit with ZClasses. I've created a ZClass with a small number of properties. When I create an instance of my ZClass I can edit properties via a standard property editing page. If I don't like the look of this page, how easy is it to develop a custom property page for my ZClass? What and where would I need to make changes? Thanks. James W. Where does zope store temporary files?

When I do a file upload to a Zope method where is the temp file stored on the server? /tmp, /var/tmp, or the directory containing Data.fs? I need to know this because the system we're setting up will receive large file uploads and I need to dimension the partitions correctly. dtml-return question

I want to add a DTMLMethod to a folder which will be used to return a subset of the items in the folder. I've written a method called allNewsArticles which looks like this: <dtml-return "objectValues('NewsArticle')"> I have a method in another folder which references the result of this method and it looks like this: <dtml-in allNewsArticles> <... do stuff here...> </dtml-in> When I execute the DTMLMethod containing the code above, I get no output for the dtml-in. However, if I do the following in the method above (instead of using the allNewsArticles method), I do get output: <dtml-in "PARENTS[1].objectValues('NewsArticle')"> <... do stuff here ...> </dtml-in> I don't want to use the PARENTS approach because I don't know for sure that the immediate predecessor will have the news articles. Is there a way for a DTMLMethod to return a collection of items which are usable by a dtml-in tag? Thanks. James W. caching problem.

Hi there, I'm just beginning to use Zope, and I'm making some tests with it since yesterday only. unfortunately I'm facing a caching problem which doesn't seem to stop if I stop then relaunch Zope (standalone) or if I try to flush cache with the Zope menu. Here's what I do, maybe I'm wrong: I define a dtml method, let's call it my_method this way: ------- my_method ------- <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var my_logo> <p> Here's some HTML text, but if you want you can view the <a href="my_method_pdf">PDF version</a> </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ------- my_method ------- and I define a Zpdfdocument this way: ------- my_method_pdf -------  and <dtml-var> ? I've tried to repeat the database example contained in QuickStart and it didn't work until I replaced all  with <dtml-var> . thanks for your time. My URL is something like this: /RootTop/NewsSite/20001001/CurrentIssue Both 20001001 and CurrentIssue are folder objects. The 20001001 contains news articles. The CurrentIssue contains information on how to format news articles. What I wanted to have happen is I wanted my code in CurrentIssue to be able to dynamically get a collection of NewsArticle objects which it could then format into a table of contents. I wanted to invoke a method which I new would be implemented by an object higher in the acquisition tree, but I wanted the invoked method (allNewsArticles) to generate a list of articles contained in the folder which defined the allNewsArticles method itself. What seems to be happening, based on my limited knowledge of Zope plus your comments above, is that my CurrentIssue is acquiring the allNewsArticles method and then executing it over the CurrentIssue contents, rather than the 20001001 contents. Since CurrentIssue has no NewsArticles, there is nothing to loop over. Does this sound correct? What I want to be able to do is ask an object to answer some results from the perspective of the object being asked. However, I don't know (or want to know) where in the acquisition hierarchy this object resides. I want to be able to send a message out into the acquisition ether, as it were, and if an object responds to the message I want that object to execute it and return its results. Of course, I'm open to other solutions as long as I can keep the knowledge of how to format an object separate from the knowledge of the content. Thanks James W. My problem went away when I wrapped the dtml-in in a dtml-let. i.e. <dtml-let foo=allNewsArticles> <dtml-in foo> <... do stuff here...> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> ...sorted my problem, but YMMV. importing Site Summaries

Hi everyone, I've got a problem using Site Summary because of a problem with a URL I'm trying to retrieve, not directly because of the Site Summary product. New Roles and New ZClasses...

Hi, I have a Document Repository 'Product' that looks like this: (Made from ZClasses...) DRBase (ZObject, _ZClass_for_CatalogAware, ZObjectManager, _ZClass_for_Folder) DRDoc (ZObject, _ZClass_for_CatalogAware, _ZClass_for_File) The DRBase subobjects include 'file' and 'Document' Note, Document is a DRDoc. - I create a folder called 'test' under the root folder. - In test, I create a Document Repository called docs. - In the folder test, I remove 'acquire permissions' for everything. - In the folder test, I have a user folder (the default acl_users). - In that user folder I create a new role called Project Manager. - I give the Project manager every possible permission. - I create a user (dboyd) in the User Folder, and make dboyd a project manager. I now suspect dboyd should be able to do everything. However, dboyd cannot do the following: - add a new document repository to the folder test. - add a DRDoc to the Document Repository called docs. dboyd can add a file to the Document Repository called docs. Passwd doesn't take

I seem to have zope running on my Debian/Linux workstation as follows: 1 3502 3502 3502 ? -1 S 0 0:00 python /usr/sbin/zope-z2 3502 3503 3502 3502 ? -1 S 33 0:14 /usr/bin/python /usr/sbin/zope-z2 and I get prompted for the password when I give the following URI to netscape: http://localhost:8080/manage but I give my name and password (which I think is correct because after it failed the first time I changed it with:asp:/usr/lib/zope# ./zpasswd.py ~zopepasswdfile Username [superuser]: Xeno Password: Verify password: Please choose a format from: SHA - SHA-1 hashed password CRYPT - UNIX-style crypt password CLEARTEXT - no protection. Encoding [SHA]: Allowed domains [enter=all]: ...and after it rejected the password and I hit cancel, it said: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access this resource. Troubleshooting Suggestions The URL may be incorrect. The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. For more detailed information about the error, please refer to the HTML source for this page. I think I have a valid install, as I went through all the standard dpkg -i install packages to get there, and the thing runs and stayed in memory for about a day now. I'm hoping this is a simple problem with the way I'm setting the password, or the way I'm specifying the URI to netscape. Can somebody make a suggestion or tell me where to read? Thanks.
