If my stuff does not work, you have to play with C code. I had fixed up a couple of problems in ctsybase, and was still getting seg-faults. I also needed to have bulkcopy capability, and realised that it would not be too hard to start again from the example code that Sybase provide. - Dave

Can't import KnowledgeKit example
by Chris Allen 17 Jan '00

Hi, I am trying to import the KnowledgeKit (1.6.7) example via the Product Import/Export screen and get the error shown below. Any ideas? Importing the actual KnowledgeKit product worked OK. Thanks, Chris The object KnowledgeKit_Example does not support this operation Traceback (innermost last): File /export/Zope-2.1.2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 214, in publish_module File /export/Zope-2.1.2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 179, in publish File /export/Zope-2.1.2/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 202, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: ElementWithAttributes) File /export/Zope-2.1.2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 165, in publish File /export/Zope-2.1.2/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: manage_importObject) File /export/Zope-2.1.2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 102, in call_object (Object: manage_importObject) File /export/Zope-2.1.2/lib/python/OFS/ObjectManager.py, line 479, in manage_importObject (Object: ElementWithAttributes) File /export/Zope-2.1.2/lib/python/OFS/CopySupport.py, line 374, in _verifyObjectPaste (Object: ElementWithAttributes) Copy Error: (see above)

Re: [Zope] Zserver logs

>>> Graham Chiu wrote > Is it possible to configure Zserver to produce logs with domains rather > than just IP addresses? Most systems nowadays log IP addresses rather than names - to do names, you have to do a reverse lookup of the address. Given the fairly woeful state of the in-addr.arpa. space, this can take some time, and this will have a _major_ performance impact on your system. The best way to do what you want is probably to post-process the logs using something like logresolve (http://www.aceldama.com/~tomr/progs/logresolve/) or similar. There's a bunch listed at http://ntua.linuxberg.com/conhtml/adm_log.html and also at http://www.freshmeat.net/appindex/console/log%20analyzers.html Perhaps someone looking for a small project could put together a how-to listing log analysers that work on the Z2.log format... new dtml syntax
by Jeff Bauer 17 Jan '00

17 Jan '00

Hi all. I'm attempting to use the new dtml syntax convention, documented in Pamela's fine Document Template Markup Language reference. The server complains if I use syntax, but works okay for . I assume the possible problem might be: 1. The new syntax is not supported in the latest stable Zope 2.1.2 release. 2. My server is loading an older version of DocumentTemplate.HTMLFile. (I've already checked this.) The individual Zope components used to be available for separate download, but I can't find them anymore. If downloading a more recent DocumentTemplate from a beta version will allow me to play with the new dtml syntax, I'll be happy to try that. Thanks. Jeff Bauer Rubicon Research

16/01/2000 19:43:04 thanks. the point is, is it worth doing it? does it work better than with the standar zope webserver or apache? Quick Permissions Question
by Alexander Limi 16 Jan '00

16 Jan '00

Zopistas, Just a quick question here - the Owner role; does it inherit permissions from Manager, Anonymous or nobody? The problem is this: I want to give the users of my site limited permissions in their own directory, they should only be able to do a select few things. Is the Owner role the preferred way of doing this, or is it better to create a new role with just a few permissions? In other words, can I limit what the Owner can do in his own folder, or does he automatically have Manager-like permissions in his own folder? A pretty basic question, but I couldn't find a straight answer, and I don't want to make any security holes in the site. Thanks in advance. Alexander Limi http://mp3.no
