adding instance w/o management access

Hi everyone, I've got a certain role assigned to people who I want to be able to create an instance of a ZClass. I don't want them to have access to the management screen however. I'm having trouble figuring out what combination of permissions will do it. Does anyone have a suggestion? Currently I have a link that points to the 'NewsArticle_factory' for creating instances of my News ZClass. I'm not even sure if that's the proper way to do it. Using a tree in the header?

I would like to use the dtml-tree to allow users to puruse the object hierarchy (DTML Docs and Folders) starting from the root folder (/). I would like it displayed in the left hand column of a table that I set up in the standard_header. What is the object id for the root folder? ( '/' ?) I would like to functionality of the /manage screens, in terms of file browsing, without the use of frames. Is this possible? Photo Product fix/question/suggestion

Question: I have a class "FoobarInfo" that has an "image" property. This property holds the ID of an image to be rendered in FoobarInfo's index_html method. Therefore, in the index_html I was doing this: <img class="fooimage" alt="[Image for <dtml-var name>]" src=<dtml-var image> > And this works just spiffy. However, I want to use the Photo Product instead of the Image class. The code above works for Photo, too, but it does not take advantage of Photo's features. Now, normally you would insert the following into a document to render the image and use the feature I want (specifically, a user's preferred display size): <dtml-var "blah(REQUEST, pdcookie='1')"> Where "blah" is the ID of the Photo instance you want to insert. My problem is that I'm not sure how to say "blah should be the object referred to by my image property", and I'm also not sure how to set the class and alt text in this usage (putting them after pdcookie didn't work). I've tried all sorts of weird stuff with _, getitem, dtml-with, dtml-let, but to no avail. Alternately, figuring out how to use this "pdcookie" feature from a normal <img> tag would work too. (I also tried deriving my class from Image or Photo and adding my extra Info properties, but that was even harder to figure out. At least this way it sort-of works.) Fixing the default Image Formats: The __init__.py file that the Photo Product supplies for PIL only supports the GIF image type by default, which is weird behavior these days. I thought it was a bug at first. ;-) To enable other formats, open the __init__.py that you put in PIL's directory, and add the desired Image plugins onto the import list. Mine looks like so, now: import Image, ImageFile, ImageDraw, _imaging, GifImagePlugin, JpegImagePlugin, PngImagePlugin This seems to work fine. All of the plugins are in PIL's directory, so look there to figure out whether one is available for a given format. (I plan to remove GifImagePlugin, because frankly I never use GIF if I can avoid it). Suggestion: As far as the Photo Product itself is concerned, I think that the default size for thumbnails is way too huge. 128x128 seems more alike a preview size than a thumbnail (I would put the latter at more like 32x32 or 64x64). Hmm... might be a bug in the v1-v2 conversion script. Can you copy and paste this folder to another location? Does it still bug out if it does let you copy/paste? Do you get any errors in your log like "Cannot load state for object 0F0000.... etc... " -Michel

Dbase error

Hola everyone! I have been having a problem with my zope database ever since I converted it from the old zope to the new one. The problem that I keep having is: When I am in the management area of zope, and it shows me the list of folders, methods, etc. that are in my zope database, a funny thing keeps happening. About 3 folders deep, there is a folder, that when I click on it, instead of showing me the contents of the folder, it loads up the standard header that is _inside_ the folder. I say: "what the heck?!?!" I've tried exporting from the old db, importing into the new db, with on luck. I've tried renaming the subfolder... no luck. I've tried logging in as different users... no luck. I've tried some really weird stuff that I was just hoping would work, no luck. For the life of me I can't figure out what is going on. I click on the subfolder, and it gives me a web page instead of an index of what's actually _in_ the folder. Under the old version of zope, it works fine. The problem only started when I implemented the new ver. In short; People are yelling at me, and I haven't a clue as to how to fix this. If ANYONE has seen this before... PleAsE HElP!!! Yall have been a great help in the past... I'm hoping yall can be a great help to me now too! If people keep helping me, maybe someday I will know enough to actually be able to help others, ya know? ZODBC and MSSQL: "Invalid cursor state" bug

Not being an expert on ODBC, I'm at a loss dealing with this bug. Using ZODBC 3.1.0b2 (MSSQL 6.5, NT 4.0 SP4), multiple queries -- especially combining calls to select-type SQL methods with inserts/delete-type methods -- eventually prompt the following error: ('24000', 0, '[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid cursor state') Example traceback: File c:\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 214, in publish_module File c:\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 179, in publish File c:\zope\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 201, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: ElementWithAttributes) File c:\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 165, in publish [...] File c:\zope\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\DA.py, line 401, in __call__ (Object: DeleteFilters) File c:\zope\lib\python\Products\ZODBCDA\db.py, line 199, in query sql.error: (see above) I can easily reproduce this error, but only in my real-world apps. It occurs *very easily*. Anyone using Zope Mail Host with MS Exchange ?

I have a client reporting that mail sent from Zope using a MS Exchange box as their Zope Mail Host never arrives. The forms themselves are known not to be at fault since we have previously tested them using a Zope Mail Host defined on a unix box (running QMail). I can test the forms from remote as an end user and they seem to submit properly - so the mail host is accepting the messages - but they never arrive anywhere (not even in their postmaster a/c) Since they are doing this from behind a firewall and refuse to open it for ssh access, I thought I'd first check if this is a known issue before I take a flight there to sort it out.
