Anyone using Zope Mail Host with MS Exchange ?
by chas 10 Jan '00

10 Jan '00

I have a client reporting that mail sent from Zope using a MS Exchange box as their Zope Mail Host never arrives. The forms themselves are known not to be at fault since we have previously tested them using a Zope Mail Host defined on a unix box (running QMail). I can test the forms from remote as an end user and they seem to submit properly - so the mail host is accepting the messages - but they never arrive anywhere (not even in their postmaster a/c) Since they are doing this from behind a firewall and refuse to open it for ssh access, I thought I'd first check if this is a known issue before I take a flight there to sort it out. Thanks in advance, chas

Adding another base class to an existing ZClass
by Steve Jibson 10 Jan '00

10 Jan '00

I've spent many hours working on a ZClass (with multiple sub-zclasses, etc.), and now I've decided that I should have inherited from Folder as well as ObjectManager when I created the ZClass. Is there a way to add a base class to the base class list of an existing ZClass, or do I need to start all over? Thanks, Steve

I've set up a form that calls a dtml method to input the form data into a database table, then it calls another dtml method to take the form data and sends via e-mail. I'm having problems with referencing the form data in my method that sends the e-mail. Any suggestions? Thanks. Scott

Zope and Data Entry
by darryl＠igor.penguinpowered.com 10 Jan '00

10 Jan '00

I am designing a site which will be used for a lot of data entry. I have zope 2.1.2 and mysql talking nicely. Now my problem is design. I want the user to be able to fill in a form using some HTML select fields, these fields should then be translated into their respective item IDs for input into my table. So even though the user chooses: cat dog mouse the sql final method should be: insert into table animals (cID, dID, mID) values (12, 14, 18) In a CGI, I would use a python dictionary or perl hash to translate the keys into their values before makeing. But I'm a little stumped with zope? Should I handle this with an external method or can I do it with straight sql methods and built-ins?

You can't have it both ways. Either Zope controls the top level namespace or Apache does.
