A while back I sent the following information to Scott Robertson but haven't heard anything either way. It looks like a problem with Zope/FCGI as opposed to mod_fcgi or Apache. #2 looks like some important information, but I'm new to Zope and Python, so what do I know. :-) ================================== After further research, I have the following info from the FastCGI mailing list and from a debug output from Zope. 1) The FastCGI mailing list has this to offer: "Errors about an invalid version usually means the app printed something to stdout (or maybe even stderr) when it shouldn't, and/or without the FCGI wrapper functions in place. setting Title vars automatically on ftp uploaded html docs

I am migrating a clients static html site to zope to utilize the management features of zope. I'm indexing and searching the site with a ZCatalog and have manually set the Title vars on each dtml document so I can display it on the search results page. My question is how to go through their folder and search dtml documents for the <title></title> tags not containing <dtml-var> tags and update the Title var for that document. I was thinking of using an external method run periodically but I'm not sure if I can access a folder and all it's objects and set those variables externally. -- Chris McClimans chris-zope(a)mcclimans.net

Sorry about that first post, I had a stupid attack. Basically, can we call Natural programs with Zope? I searched zope.org and while ADABAS support was mentioned, I didn't see anything about Natural. ADABAS/Natural question

This is for the ADABAS folks out there. We're a ADABAS/Natural shop and we're looking at going to the web. We've been looking at SAGA's EntireX/iExpress solution for doing this because it allows us to keep and utilize a single codebase. We have about 15 years of custom development in Natural, and dumping that investment is not an option. Note: We aren't a mainframe shop. Your version and database should still be intact, it just didn't let you make the change you tried to make on the locked object. Zope puts a little lock icon next to objects that are locked in a version. The workaround for this is to commit or abort your versions before modifying locked objects. -Michel

The current strategy is to create a branch when an x.y release goes into beta - changes leading up to the x.y final and subsequent changes leading to x.y.z releases are added to the branch (as well as the main line, of course). Starting with the next x.y release, you will be able to use the tag: Zope-x_y-release to get that branch. I say "starting with the next release" because we just recently decided on this convention - you can get the branch that 2.1.1 was generated from now, but you'll need to do: cvs co -r Zope-2_1_0 ... Testing for the existence of a unique key

Hi gang, I have a PostgreSQL database that I'm connected to. It has a unique key If I use and INSERT to insert a new record all works as expected. If I attempt to insert a non-unique key, I get NO exception, NO error, just Netscape popping up a "Response contained no data" dialogue box. Am I correct in my assumption that the DA for PostgreSQL does not throw exceptions of this nature, and that I will have to run a SELECT to see if the record exists, then selectively run the INSERT based on the results of the SELECT? I have gone wading through the DA code in an attempt to figure this out, but it exceeds my understanding of what's going on. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. -- Stand Fast, tjg.
