Storing files externally

Zopistas, I'm trying to store files that are submitted from a form on the local filesystem, and not in the ZODB. First, I thought I could use the LocalFS product, but this is read only, so no dice. Then I tried to implement the things I found in the "Howto store files externally"-howto. I'm almost there (after some fiddling around, the howto is a bit lacking) but I get errors. When I try to add an object of the class "myFileClass", I get the following: "Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: NameError Error Value: cookId" The external method "cookId" is located in the ZClass. Traceback below. Shouldn't it be easy to store files outside the ZODB? I find these methods a bit cumbersome. Authentication with IIS

Hello, This question has been asked several times already, and the answer is always the same: Q: How to to interface Zope with IIS A: turn off challenge/response authentication and turn on basic authentication for Zope to handle authentication *BUT* I want IIS to handle authentication, and give Zope the user's name through REMOTE_USER. It seems not to be possible. Has anyone managed to do that? Here, everyone who is logged on the NT Domain is already authenticated when they browse the intranet. How to turn off the base href?

Hi, Zope currently tweaks all HTML documents before delivering it. It inserts a <base href="..."> line in all HTML documents delivered. ok, now I have questions. 1. If methodX writes new values to these properties, which object gets modified? 2. Since everything is off of [one] can't I get everything through proper structuring of the url? 3. Isn't security (permissions) acquired? (see previous post about structuring large projects) 4. Can I circumvent security by structuring my url to acquire methodX from another object? Acquisition problem - please help

If I have a folder structure like this: first second third fourth fifth and first defines a property X and third defines a property X (and nothing else defines proprty X) an first defines a method M And I do http://host/first/second/third/fourth/fifth What value of X would a method M see? The value first set or the value third set? What I'm seeing is this: with http://host/first/second/third, M sees the value that third set with http://host/first/second/third/fourth/fifth, M sees the value that first set I am using "Zope version: Zope 2.0.1 (source release, python 1.5.1, linux2) " Is this what is supposed to happen, or is this a bug that was fixed? I *think* I had it working such that M saw third's value at one point, then I changed the name of the property in question (and all the methods that reference it to reflect that). Now I see what I described above. If this is a bug, is there a work around? Desperate!

ZOracleDA periodically drops connections, please help

Hello. We are about to go live with a new Zope based site but we are having a frustrating problem. Periodically, we lose all of our oracle connections. Our queries start to return oci errors stating that the zsql method is not connected to a database. Sometimes this causes ZServer/python to crash, other times they are still running. In all cases restarting zserver fixes the problem. We have ZServer configured to run pcgi only. Apache also runs and delivers content via pcgi. Our Zope server runs on a redhat 6.2 machine. We have the Oracle DA installed on that machine. Our Oracle server runs on a Sun box. When ZOracleDA loses all of its connections, we can still communicate with the oracle server fine via sqlplus. Any help is greatly appreciated. ^Roman
