It is not necesary to add a Zope user at all, if this is what you need to do to get it to work, then that's a bug. I'm still working on getting NotMail functional for 2.0, then I wash my hands of it. I realize I'm lagging behind my promised date... sigh... It would be *really* cool if someone could do this for me, then I can spend more time on the Portal TK. -Michel

Zope's path is not the same as your system's python path. Try either copying your .so.1 file into the etcUserFolder product directory or hack z2.py to add where it exists on your system to the zope path. -Michel

REQUEST[] problem
by Oliver Frommel 22 Oct '99

Hello, after i figured out most of the namespace issues (thanks again) there's still a problem left. I want to use my DTML method as a backend to a form input page, where I can enter the destination folder(s), i.e. I want to make the destination of the cloned object dependent on a (REQUEST) variable. when i have a structure like this: / /templ/link (DTML doc) /m945/process (DTML meth.) /sendung/x/ /y/ the following works (in /m945/process) and clones the "link" object to the folder "/sendung/y" as expected: <dtml-with sendung> <dtml-with y> <dtml-with "manage_clone(templ.link, ZopeTime().Time(), REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties( title = REQUEST['url'], text = REQUEST['text'], url = REQUEST['url'] )"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> When I replace the variable in the second dtml-if tag I get the object cloned in the wrong folder ("sendung") although the value if REQUEST['sdg'] is "y": <dtml-with sendung> DEBUG: REQUEST['sdg'] = <dtml-var "REQUEST['sdg']"><br> <dtml-with "REQUEST['sdg']"> <dtml-with "manage_clone(templ.link, ZopeTime().Time(), REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties( title = REQUEST['url'], text = REQUEST['text'], url = REQUEST['url'] )"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> what am I doing wrong this time? etcuserfolder?
by Kaleissin 22 Oct '99

Anyone got etcuserfolder to work? The product breaks with from crypt import crypt ImportError: Shared object "libcrypt.so.1" not found and this on a vanilla FreeBSD 3.2 box... the crypt-module works fine in an ordinary python program or interactively... Puzzled, t.

RE: [Zope] Bad use of XML Document??
by dale w lance 22 Oct '99

Thanks for the pointer - I have two problems with this. The first is that I don't have a SQL database. Not much of a problem to test your stuff, I can always get one! The other problem iis one that has been discussed multiple times around here on the Zope list. I want to give the the user some editing abilities which include changing the styles of some of the objects. Any hints, clues, advice? Yeah, but try deploying that newly-compiled application to thousands of users all over the world in nineteen seconds. You catch up on Zope mail -- what else? :) FWIW, it takes my (almost empty) ZServer about 3.5 seconds to restart on Linux. Proved wrong again! ;) Here is a pretty good use case for the catalog being more intelligent with DTML Methods, anyone want to put this in the Collector? > You can do it with an External Method: This is probably the best idea. -Michel

Using French date format
by Alexandre Ratti 22 Oct '99

22 Oct '99

Hello, I want to use French date formats. Here is what I have understood so far about international date formats. If anything is wrong, please say so. I use Zope 2.0.1. I'll write up an howto to summarize the story. 1) OK, if I want to enter the edit time for an objet, I just enter <dtml-var bobobase_modification_time> The result is a long time stamp in GMT format. Eg. : 1999/10/22 13:01:33.059 GMT+1 2) If I want another format, I can use C-style format strings. Eg. : <dtml-var bobobase_modification_time fmt="%d/%m/%Y - %H:%M"> I get the following results : "22/10/1999 - 11:01". Fine, but it's two hours off because it is GMT based. I can also use : <dtml-var "bobobase_modification_time().strftime('%d/%m/%Y - %H:%M')"> Same result. 3) Someone suggested using the "toZone('myTimeZone')" method. Eg.: <dtml-var "bobobase_modification_time().toZone('US/Indiana-Starke').strftime('%d/%m/%Y - %H:%M')">
