Zope,Python,Corba - which way to go

Hello Zopers, I'm currently working on a project, which requires to have access to a Corba ORB (currently Fnorb is used). Does anyone played a little bit with Corba, Python and Zope? My following Questions are not completely answered for me yet: a) How to handle the Corbaclient in a multi threaded environment. b) I think it's a bad Idea to use an Extension Method. Thus every Clientrequest leads to the same process of getting the ref and than getting an object handle throughout a factory. If I understand right ZClasses and Products are initialized at Zope server start time. Then I think is best to use them for doing the initial Job (getting references) and presenting them through a well defined Interface. c) How exactly is the life circle of: - Product Objects - External Method Objects - ZClasses Maybe you have some hints or links for me, or could something tell about your own experiences. Inheritance glitches?

Hi, I'm trying to write an external ZClass base class which inherits from CatalogAware and another external ZClass base I've written. I'm trying to call CatalogAware's manage_afterAdd function from within my new class's manage_afterAdd function, but whenever I try it, I get Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unbound method must be called with class instance 1st argument My code looks like this: class BasicGroup(CatalogAware, LogAware): meta_type = 'BasicGroup' def manage_afterAdd(self, item, container): CatalogAware.manage_afterAdd(self, item, container) ... How can I get properties from a folder object???

Hello I am very new to Zope and I have a problem: I want to create a DTML file that is able to manipulate the properties of an objekt (folder).(like the manage_propertiesForm) I found out how I can change the properties but I want to know how I can get the properties from the object, because I need them to create a dynamic form. I try it with  and  but I need a function that can be used in an " in-tag" like: <dtml-in propertyItem>  //Id of the property  //Value of the property </dtml-in> I know that this is nonsens but maybe it exlain my needs. Getting an object from its name

Hi, I have Folder showImage FolderA index_html figure1 figure2 ... figure3 FolderB index_html figure1 figure2 ... figure3 FolderC ... ... The DTML method showImage contains: ----------------- <div align="center"> <table cellpading="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"> <tr><td><img src="<dtml-var img>" width="400"></td> <tr><td><p>**********</p></td> </table> </div> ----------------- and the DTML document contains: ------------------- <dtml-var "showImage(img = 'figure1')"> ------------------- What should I put in "************" to get the title of the figure? MessageDialog

Is there any way to create a MessageDialog from inside DTML? I'm doing some <dtml-calls> in a DTML method, and when they're finished I'd like to bring up a MessageDialog, instead of printing out a HTML page manually.

I'm running Zope at home on a dual-celeron 500 with a RAID array and a large data.fs (approaching 1.5gb). Whenever I need to stop or restart Zope it takes between 5 and 10 minutes to finish. Imagine embedding Microsoft XLS, Word, Visio, or any other form of native file within a ZODB objectstore (for an Intranet application)... How big can your data.fs store grow before it takes *hours* to roll forward transactions to quiesce Zope into a running state? How much pain are you willing to put up with before you drop versions and undo's to eliminate the need for transactions? It's beginning to look like the DBM store may be my best option. How much effort would it really take to store Zope pickles into LDAP space? :) - Ian C.
