Time to contribute something back to the Zope community. Thanks to everyone on the mailing list, I've saved hours putting together a rudimentary navigation system for my site. To save the next poor bastard even more time, I'm putting together a HowTo on zope.org that explains how it's all done: http://www.zope.org/Members/gtk/navbars Some of the code is still a little messy, but I'm fairly sure the basic principles are good. If any of you would like to take a look and send me some tips, critiques or commentary, that'd be much appreciated. Is there an easy way?..

I have a form that has 12 checkboxes on it. On the action URL, I have an in tag, which iterates over the ?list? of checkboxes. Problem is, when one or none are checked, zope complains about the stuff being a string, and refuses to do anything. trying to install zope 2.0.1.on solaris...

Hi, .I have a question.....can u help me...with this well. the problem is I have downloaded zope 2.0.1and tried to install it with my login(on solaris 5.5.1)....then it gave following error... creating default access file Traceback (innermost last): File "inst/binary_install.py", line 151, in ? if __name__=='__main__': main(sys.argv) File "inst/binary_install.py", line 142, in main import zpasswd; zpasswd.write_access(home, user, group) File "/home/zope2.0.1/zpasswd.py", line 125, in write_access acfile=open(ac_path, 'w') IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/home/zope2.0.1/access'.... this obviously is because i forgot to notice that i downloaded it as root.....and i didnot have write permission to the directory to which i downloaded ** then i tried to install it as root and it gave me the following error ............ Deleting objects from DTML

Hello fellow Zopers, I tried to find an object reference manual, but had no success, so here is my question: Can anybody give me a hint how to delete/destroy/kill a Zope object from within a DTML method? The background is that I try to have a link on a web page which deletes an object from the Zope DB when klicked. Turn static HTML dynamic?

Hi! We´re thinking about using Zope for our University website. Now we face following problem: We need a simple solution for people who don´t want to care about DTML to publish their documents using Composer or similar WYSIWYG tools. These documents should be rendered with some standard HTML-code (navigation and the like). Is there any possibility to do this without having to teach everyone <dtml-var> etc.? We tested various things (access rules) but in the best case we end up with nested <html> tags. Unfortunately, we have no python experts here and we´re not learning fast enough to present a solution within time. Some background info: we have to ensure that virtually erveryone here has a simple way to put information on the net. Most of these people have little or no HTML knowledge but use Composer, HotMetal or even word to create their documents. So it seems unacceptable to our bosses to bother anyone with manipulating sources. We would really like to use Zope because of its great management features, user management and expandibility (and its price ;-), so any hints would be highly appreciated. I can't view my Zope server without authenticating, despite checking the "Access contents information", "View" and "View management screens" permissions for Anonymous in my root folder's security tab, plus making sure that Acquire Permission Settings is checked for all DTML methods referred to by my index_html method. My traceback on the access denied is: File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_In.py, line 682, in renderwob (Object: PARENTS[0].objectValues(['Folder'])) Unauthorized: 0 Anyone? I'm kinda lost on this one.

Security + XMLRPC

Using Zope for B2B. Partner websites take orders from their staff or clientel and relay those orders to us. So, the actual communications between these participating companies' servers and our own server are totally automated. Security exists at 3 layers : a) Host/IP - we've already filtered hosts that can connect to us based on IP. But, since IPs can be spoofed, we may buy hardware VPN solutions. (problem : hardware vpn can be expensive for our partners or even impossible if they are colocating) b) Protocol. At the moment I've got a prototype running with XMLRPC which was damned easy to create. However, there is no security mechanism built into XMLRPC (or at not that I can see). So, all data is transfered in the clear. c) The data/information itself. Since there is no authentication with XMLRPC, the data itself is encoded (using rotor and other simple python encryption modules) with a unique key that we will provide to each participating company/site. I really like using XMLRPC but is the above simply a disaster waiting to happen ? Would CORBA, HTTPS (ie using SSLeay), or SSH be better suited ? And is anyone already doing anything like this ?
