Can anyone point be to a public domain archive of icons suitable for use with Zope? Help! - Zope import

Hi *, I'm am trying to Import a Zope1 Export into Zope2. I get an "ExportError" msg when trying to do this. Is there any way to get around this? Thanks in advance, - Fox

Paul, Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, there are some very interesting things with ColdFusion that people really need to know. These are things, such as the Win32 emulation under Solaris, that might affect peoples decision. I report, you decide. Anyway, as for Spectra, I'm under an NDA, but I can discuss the major parts of it that are public. First of all, as I said before, they have attempted to make an object publishing environment out of a non-object oriented programming language/application server. To answer your question, I do think that Spectra is limited by having CF as a foundation. I think that Spectra is *going to be* slow and clunky given it's CF architecture... try taking a procedural language and trying to write an application like you would in an object oriented language... it's simply going to be a bunch of work-arounds and quick fixes... it's not going to be clean code, it's not going to be elegant... it *might* work, but it will be clunky and slow... see what I mean? The one thing I must give Allaire credit for is the way that they have marketed Spectra... What they have done is taken a clunky, slow, hard to use product and marketed the hell out of it. The one thing missing from Zope is that kind of hardcore marketing. Zope can do everything Spectra will do, and it can do it NOW. And it can do it faster and better and is easier to use, is more extensible, etc. But, like I have seen from other posts on this list, at least Allaire tells you what you can do with Spectra. And, no offense to ColdFusion developers, but the majority of them are not that technically skilled so telling them what they can do and how easy it will be to implement is *just* what they want to hear. What's funny, is the exact same things would be much easier to implement in Zope. Hope that I answered your questions in a round about way. I like ColdFusion, but you have to take if for what it is...a procedural development environment... if you want to work with objects (and enjoy the benefits of doing so) then Zope is the obvious choice. I'd also like to see see enhanced management of versions that includes the ability to list all the objects in a version, who and when they were edited. Undo changes of these objects from within the version. Why does this work index_html =HTMLFile('my_dtml_doc', globals()) while this doesn't def index_html(self,REQUEST,RESPONSE): " " return HTMLFile('my_dtml_doc', globals())(self, REQUEST, RESPONSE) where my dtml-var calls fail.

Anybody know the status of the Calendar tag? I spent time working on a newer version of the tag to do some other formats so I know it was there this morning. ODBC Setup

I did unzip the ODBC file into the root directory of my ZOPE installation, which is e:\rpa and the file it dumped was sql.pyd. However how do I now setup the connection in ZOPE. The drop-down list of objects doesn't show an ODBC setup thanks Sunit

BTW: Mozilla currently has the same problem with <base> and non-standard ports. What document should I refer to when reporting the bug? Hmm.... that would indeed be the cause of the misbehaving BASE tag. HTTPRequest constructs the BASE either from HTTP_HOST, or, if omitted, from SERVER_NAME and SERVER_PORT. You can confirm this by opening http://servername:serverport/path/to/Zope/REQUEST in w3m (in your case http://bespin:9090/REQUEST) and then look for the HTTP_HOST and SERVER_URL environment variables. If they read bespin, and not bespin:9090, then w3m is to blame and a bug report should be filed with its creator.

Do you mean info and tutorials for SQL (Structured Query Language) or for ZSQL (Zope's SQL support)? If the former, I recommend _The Pratcical SQL Handbook_, 3rd edition, by Bowman/Emerson/Darnovsky, Addison-Wesley 1996, ISBN 0-201-44787-8. This is a good book detailing most aspects of ANSI SQL, and with a good perspective on the diverging "standards" of vendors such as Sybase/Microsoft ("Transact SQL").
